Attempted to have a family gathering at the Arlington location! The manager "Chelsea" was rude, unprofessional and bordering provocative! Apparently you need to know exactly how many people will be in your party even during slow times! The food was ok, the service is SOOO much better at Uptown location! Ambivalent. Not quite what I expected, but the food was good. Simple. Certainly NOT in the Cajun practice of delivering with potatoes, corn, etc. On top of that we got completely skimped on the amount of crab we should have received, and when we spoke to the manager (Gaime Gonzales) he certainly seemed more interested in starting a confrontation in front of the restaurant than he was about our concerns. Horrible manager! The saving grace, and only reason I give 3 stars, was our server Greg, who was more than willing to go above and beyond to make our experience as pleasurable as can be. this particular resturant is a total disgrace!!!.. i ate there sat night 1-20-18 around 7pm ish.. i came along with my sister who attended a party that was hosted there .. when we were walked to the back room it was a long table in the middle that was set up fpr the party guest.. my son and i sat away from the table to the side .. after a few mins an employee came to us and asked if we could sit at the table with the party ,because he said he had more ppl coming and needed room .. without hesitations or questions i sat at the party table.. ordered my food ..which was calamari and , catfish and fries... the food was never the appropriate temperature for the time we waited.. although i ate the calamari..because i hadnt eaten &my blood sugar was very low so i had to put something in my body ..i continue to eat it with no problem .. it was satisfactory, .. so i waited almost 30 min for my order of catfish ..& when it came it was undercooked & the fries were room temperature, i figured if i waited 30 plus for my food it should hot .. i told my waiter which was a average height black guy with a mustache, that my fries were cold and id like another order.. he said ok & went off,some other guy came out with a side of fries apparently for another person ,but i told him that i asked my waiter i needed another fry..so he gave me those fries which were cold ..i walked to find the manager &told him about the situation..the man i 1st spoke to was a white male with spiky salt and pepper colored hair.. he took care of the situation accordingly along with 4 other people problems about their food at the table i was sitting at.. 2 young ladies never received their meals and it was approaching an hr . after he brought me back my adjusted receipt i noticed there was a 4$ service charge, i got up to go find the manager again but bump into another manager ,didnt catch her name but she was a white woman with dark framed glasses & was a nose ring.. she tild me because there was a party & i was apart of it that ,thats the reason i was charged,i tipd her i was apart of the party and that it was just me & my son.. ,she told me i sat woth the party and that she cant do anything about it .. i told her that one of the employees told me to sit at the table.. & that ive never experienced anything as such before elsewhere,i never have at that resturant or any shell shack.. she was very insensitive to my ignorance and pretty much told me th at thats the policy & she sticking with it.. i told her id like to talk to another manager.. she then walked away.. so. a few seconds later i went to the front to find the other manager, but bumped into her again..and asked her can she get the other manger..she bumped into him right in front of the kitchen window and said a few words i didnt catch & he walked off, so her and i began discussing the situation. all over again i told her i couldn't afford the service fee and she said i have to pay it the conversation went on for like 20 min or less & she ended up going to the back to give me corporates contact number.. a man tapped on the shoulder and offered to pay partial of my bill.after reject he kindly insisted.i then accepted and told the manager . she said 2 pay the waiter.. i walkd away it was like 8 waitresses hanging around the same spot where me & the manager were talking ..not working but eavesdropping on our conversation.. read more

A friend and I went over the weekend. We both had the Bierdi crab with 'kitchen sink' seasoning. We both agreed that our food was delicious. The meal was VERY messy since the seasoning is in a type of sauce vs. dry rub. This wasn't a big problem, just a slight inconvenience. I recommend that you wear very casual clothes when you go (i.e. t-shirt, shorts/jeans etc.) because like I mentioned before, the seasoning on the crab is wet and messy.Our server, Jasmine was awesome! She carefully answered our questions regarding some of the items on the menu. Her demeanor was genuinely cheerful; she managed to have the perfect service level. Jasmine was attentive without being intrusive. It was evident that she was committed to ensuring we enjoyed our experience at Shell Shack. Mission accomplished. read more

Some bullshit... Tab $49... A quarter of food. Wasn't spicy like i asked. Ghetto as hell. Got a tito's on the rocks so they charged an extra dollar for ice. Wtf! Never again, ever again. Visited the Arlington location 4 times since it opened. The service and food seem to get better each time we visit. Ordered a pound of king crab and a pound of shrimp with the kitchen sink flavoring and medium level of spicy. Plenty of food for two and oh so flavorful. Try the calamari appetizer, it has a unique flavor because it comes on top of a delicious pepper medley. Despite some initial kinks this restaurant is off and running. On top of great food, my husband and I love great service. We had the pleasure of having a wonderful server, Jose. Jose made sure our every need was met and checked on us several times throughout our visit. It's so nice to see people who really love what they do. His passion to serve was refreshing and definitely added to our dining experience. Even the manager, Jaime, came around to ensure our visit was nothing less than great. Last time dining at this location. First time, the crab legs were not seasoned right. This time, crab legs seasoned right but ordered a drink and it came in a tall glass. Ordered second drink, the same drink, and it was in a short glass. When asked why, I was told they did not have any clean tall glasses. When asked would I be charged the same for this drink, I was told , yes because there was the same shot in the tall or short glass. Was I given a choice, no. Just tacky. Take your money elsewhere. Amazing restaurant!! The food is amazing, been to this location and the Dallas location and both were great. The servers at both locations were amazing! My only complaint is that the Arlington location servers had on very tiny shorts, which can be a little bit of a turn off. read more

Great food depending on the server it can be good or bad. This Friday night I came tried to sit by myself no "open spots" at the bar but between the bar area and inside seating there were 12 open tables ready with paper on them yet they had 5 groups waiting due to kitchen backup. Fried shrimp was good. $25 crab was mushy and salty. Had to pay extra for extra tartar sauce with the shrimp. Spent $60 and had to ask for silverware-got a fork- and paper napkins out of a dispenser. We don't mind paying for good food but it wasn't overall and won't be back. read more

My family and I had a disappointing experience which was heartbreaking since it seemed so busy with people. Our wait was not too long to be sat at a table but I promise you we were there for 2 1/2 hours and we only ate about 20-30 of those minutes. Our food is not arrive all together first a house salad simple salad nothing special. Next my husband's fried shrimp they were so cold and the fries were the end bits. The fries had no seasoning. When we told the waitress about the cold shrimp she said she'd have them make it fresh. Instead they dunked the same shrimp and fries in the fryer making it double greased. Another hour later the boiled shrimp came which by then we were so hungry it didn't matter if it was bad. It was more grease and oil then seasoning. Another 30 minutes later the oysters came I didn't try these but my father in law said they looked good. For a 92 dollar tab and a 2 1/2 hour wait to not even get to eat together not worth it. My friend really hype this place up but when I walked in I already knew it was a no when I saw a table full of servers just sitting at the table and we weren't greeted...the bar tender was busy but yet he tried to provide service but the energy was dead in that place the drinks taste water downed and I'm still stuck on the fact that we had no service for about 10 minutes and yet the servers were still sitting down...so continue to sit ladies because I will not be back!! read more

Yesterday was my first visit to Shell Shack in Arlington and I had the most amazing experience. The food was good but the service we received from our server Jose was like none other!! His personality & attitude was so upbeat & positive. I told Jose that he should teach a class on how to give great customer service. I will always call before I go visit to make sure he's working because he was just that good!! I hope his manager Howard understand what a great employee he has working for him! I have been craving snow crabs for a month so when I heard about this place I knew immediately that I wanted to eat here for my birthday. My hubs obliged and we ate here last night. It definitely lived up to the hype. Our server Lydia was excellent. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. She helped make my birthday special. Most people recommended getting the kitchen sink flavor for the boil. I'm glad I did. The flavor is amazing. Hubs got the shrimp boil with the kitchen sink flavor and medium heat and he loved it as well. We will definitely be returning throughout the summer for our shrimp snow crab fix. If you love seafood, you will enjoy this place. read more

I love the food, the crab, shrimp and crawfish, but... with the money I pay I get the worst service in history! the is a ghetto fab restaurant! when I go its after 7pm.. I always call in my order and still have to wait 30min more for my order, I get mild kitchen sink flavor.. and it's always to hot.. now I have been a time i got the mild flavor and it was perfect, but you don't always get that, they give what they want.. I also think this location weight the shrimp and potatoes all together, bc it looks very skimpy each time, and if you ask a question you see bad attitude all the way! they just take your money and go, no smiling faces, no how are you doing, no is everything ok, no, nothing... I wish the other locations was not so far away but I just might make that drive, to get the food and service that all customer should receive.! please get new management and staff! customer service is everything! Most of these reviews are on point - Our forks too where held hostage. For some reason this place does not feel that napkins, spoons and forks should be on the table until absolutely necessary. Bathrooms were - ahhhh - not that clean. I should know I was onsite for 2 hours. Floor could have used a good sweeping but the highlight was how well the management staff was able to hide very well under the wait staff. I am reading these reviews and I wish the manager at the Arlington store last night was as responsive as the manager is on here to say "I'm so sorry". We waited last night for - no kidding - 120 minutes, 7 pm to 9 pm to be seated. That kick in the balls was then followed up with a "hey" since you have 11 people you will NOW have to pay a 20% fee. Wow. But wait. Do you remember that old saying......it could be worse.... It is. I asked to speak to the manager and said hey give us a break we have been here for 120 minutes. Maybe as a gesture of good will we get rid of that 20% fee, we will still tip our waitress but this feels like we are being punished for choosing to eat at this restaurant. A young lady with glasses and a few tats showed up and said - "Im so sorry - I'm so sorry" but we will charge you 20% company policy. END OF STORY. "I'm so sorry - I'm so sorry". At that point I felt like i was dealing with an offshore support team that was unable to really help me and provide any positive customer server but was continuously trained to say "Im so sorry, I'm so sorry". Well you are correct - This place is sorry. Now the food. Its seasoned and boiled in a bag and then dumped into a tray table side. I sort of felt like I was watching someone slop hogs. So in closing my experience was negative. I've been to several of these types of seafood places in the area but Shell Shack is by far the best and most consistent.. We showed up around 730 and only waited 15minutes because the place was busy "always a good sign". once seated we ordered our drinks and a calamari appetizer.. The calamari was great and good sized easily feeding the 3 of us. We ordered the snow,king,dungenous crabs along with a few pounds of shrimp and crawfish... The "kitchen sink" seasoning was great and some of us varied our heat/spice level from mild-hot.. The food came out quickly and hot... Even with the wait we were in and out in just over an hour. The manager came by making sure everything came out right and let us know about their awesome hand washing machine.. First time I've ever left this type of place without my hands smelling like the ocean lol. Looking forward to going back and if its th-sun might call and make a reservation :) read more

Came here on a Thursday night with my girl and loved it. We ordered 4 lbs of the hot Cajun style crawfish with sausage, potatoes, and corn. The seasoning was perfect and the "hot" wasn't too spicy. They throw the crawfish in a bag along with whatever sides you choose and they season it after instead of the usual before they boil it. Adding the seasoning after worked incredible and the crawfish was packed with flavor. They throw a bib on you, line the table with a long sheet of paper, and dump the crawfish into a big tray. When you're finished the server comes over and unclamps the paper, and wraps up everything in one shot making for an easy clean up. We ordered the raspberry cheesecake after and it comes with a side of raspberry sorbet which was delicious. Our server was named Kyle, and was extremely informative and helpful after we explained it was our first time there. I recommend asking for his service, especially if it's your first time there and you have questions. The layout of the menu is somewhat unorthodox, so you may have some questions as to how the whole process works. Kyle explained everything from start to finish and made it much easier to select what we wanted after hearing how to properly order. I would have ordered 2 lbs of crawfish, had he not explained to me what portion size was for two people. I will definitely be back here. Ask for Kyle! Extremely nice guy, and very timely. read more

What a great addition to Arlington! Always have been a fan of Shell Shack and now that it's closer to home, you better believe I will be there regularly. On my first visit to the Arlington location I was greeted promptly and with a smile, that is always refreshing. I chose to sit at the bar and catch a game on one of the TV's situated above the bar area. The bar staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested different things, which is always great because when it comes to seafood there are a lot of differences. I ended up getting the crawfish, because it's that time of the year and it blew me out of the water! They have tons of different seasonings to choose from and the kitchen sink was the way to go for me. I can't even begin to describe the different flavors and slight kick it had, just amazing. To sum it all up, great service, outrageously good food and fun atmosphere, it's a must do! read more

Went here last night to celebrate my grandson's 11th birthday. He loves seafood. He was a little disappointed lobster was not on the menu, but he feasted on the snow crab legs. Since there were 11 of us, we had gumbo, wings, calamari, 5lbs of snow crab legs w/sausage, 2lb of shrimp, potatoes, and corn, My 7 yr old had fried shrimp and fries and 5 year old wanted a burger. All I can say is we enjoyed EVERYTHING! The food was delicious and seasoned to perfection.The shrimp and crab clusters were huge. The servings were enough for all of us to eat and be satisfied and full. The bibs were so great and cute to the kids. They seated us in a room with just our group so that was nice.The servers were courteous and personable, the manager came in greeted us and turned on some music. We even enjoyed the whirlpool hand washing station. If there had been a lobster choice on the menu, I would have rated it a 5 but I will definitely go back again and highly recommend this restaurant.
