Feels like a small mom and pop shop with a roaster in the store. Reasonable coffee prices with a bunch of locals who "hang out". I had a iced coffee (really good) and bought some green coffee beans since I roast at home. All in all, why not. read more

I absolutely Love this place! What a pleasant surprise! Polly's has changed my coffee game lol I am a Starbucks fanatic and after dinner I stumbled across this place. The baristas were very knowledgeable and very helpful!! I had the best cup of coffee ever! I get the Estate Java roast and so the days of buying Starbucks coffee beans are over! I'm come here for my coffee beans because once you taste great coffee you will not be able to go back to that mediocre coffee served at a higher price and drowned in milk and syrup. This is a must try for those of you who appreciate good coffee :-) read more

Bad quality coffee and muffin was bad - full of sugar and butter. All end up in trash

For the basic cup of coffee - and not your standard chain - Polly's satisfied. It tasted good and had a very nice body to it. The barista was nice and helpful with recommending a blend. I did enjoy the outside seating area, but it would be a little nicer to have a little bit nicer seating than standard patio furniture. read more

Ordered Cafe mocha-delicious. Store vibe is oldie (i love it). They grind their beans in store which is cool.

Love this little joint. They roast their own beans which is my favorite thing about here. The smell as you walk in, is intoxicating. Good drinks too! read more

Polly's is a regular weekend haunt, and I like the atmosphere here. It looks like an old-timey general store and totally has a neighborhood feel. Everyone seems to know everyone here. Avoid it on weekend mornings if you're looking for some peace - bike-riders seem to like converging on the patio after a ride, and they're not quiet at all. My one complaint is that they don't seem to know how to make iced coffee properly - if you order it, you'll just get hot coffee poured over ice, which is completely wrong because you'll just wind up with some diluted junk. Sometimes they'll suggest getting an Americano because it works better, but you have to pay extra for that. I refuse. THIS is how you make real iced coffee: http://smittenkitchen.com/2008/08/cold-brewed-iced-coffee/#more-544 read more

Literally the first place on 2nd Street if you were coming from the Long Beach direction. Cappuccino Royale ($2.55) - espresso, steamed CHOCOLATE milk, whipped cream - fresh to make - interesting since it's CHOCOLATE milk but now that i think of it is more like mocha - served relatively hot - good, smooth espresso taste Environment: mainly outdoor patio seating. Great for chatting with friends and getting some vitamin-D. Not great when it's cold outside. The inside has some seating (6 people max?) The inside was also pretty stuffy. Service: staff is pretty friendly. They made it with non-fat milk so it's all good. Overall, good coffee shop. The prices are cheaper than other places which makes it great. May not be the best place during the winter due to limited inside seating. I would definitely prefer this place during the summer for a place to grab coffee and chat with friends. Parking is also not too bad since there is an adjacent parking lot and free residential parking nearby. I would definitely come back again. read more

Polly's is my favorite coffee shop in Long Beach. You can go to get your beans to take home, or just stop in for a drink. My favorites are the chai latte and the cappuccino royale. Also, their seasonal fall drinks are amazing. I tried as many as I could when they were available. The shop has a very rustic feel and smells amazing. The seating inside is limited, but I can find a place to sit about 50% of the time. They have outdoor seating too, and since the weather in Long Beach is usually pretty nice, that works just fine. Plus, it's in Belmont Shore so there's a lot to see. If you order the black velvet, proceed with caution! My friend and I each ordered one when we needed a caffeine fix and we were trembling afterwards. It's ground chocolate-covered espresso beans in a chocolatey-caffeinated "frappucino-esque" drink. I don't think I'd get it again, I don't need that much caffeine. My only wish is that Polly's was open later. I have arrived at 7:59 with hopeful desperation and have not been let inside. Oh well, nothing's perfect. read more

Oh Polly's, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I love to support a local business, especially one that has been around as long as Polly's. Their coffee is delicious coffee! Not so strong I can't drink it, but definitely not weak. The other customers are friendly. Everyone in Polly's seems to be jolly (pardon the rhyme!) They have yummy bagels. Ok, it's not as good as a bagel joint that spreads the cream cheese for you and specializes in bagels, but it sure is better than most coffee places. My only complaint is that their lids dont fit perfectly... and if I walk down to Polly's, the coffee inevitably spills all over on the walk back. However, I was in there this morning and the lids are new... I didn't walk around with it, but maybe they fixed the problem! read more

Ambiance: Laid back with couches and tables in the store and outside patio for sitting in the sun. This place is pretty busy with an outgoing and welcoming staff. Polly's has a ton of coffee beans to select, which is a plus! I would buy some but sadly, I'm just visiting from outta town. Anyways, I tried their Cappuccino San Francisco which was good!! But I would not get their Cafe Con Panna again...the coffee itself tasted bland. But I would come here just to try their other drinks, do some work and buy their fresh coffee beans! read more

The lady who served us was very friendly, cheerful and kind! The lemon bread was very good and the cafe mocha was very sweet and strong. Pollys + the beautiful airport made our early morning enjoyable. :) read more

This place smells AMAZING! Every time I walk in I almost hear an angelic choir begin to sing. Just crazy fragrant. And for good reason. They roast the coffee beans right there, all day long practically. The only downside to Polly's is that many of the workers have a really bad attitude. They need slapping in the worst way. But then a few of them are SO GOOD. I don't know how this happens. And they don't fire the idiots easily, for some reason. As good as it is, and it is GOOD, I miss the old Polly's, when it was SLIGHTLY disheveled and odd. It feels ever-so-slightly corporate now - a little too lean and mean. I also miss when they had a little more food (or when there was an open walkway to the deli that used to be next door). Still, Polly's KILLS Starbucks. No contest. read more

So let's start by being clear, Pollys is not your swanky, hipster coffee shop nor is it the cookie cutter swill slung at Starbucks. Pollys doesn't have the plush couches or ambient mood music. In fact, it's simple and almost Spartan in its styling's. Pollys is however, all about solid, amazing, freshly roasted coffee! What you might argue Pollys lacks in style, it more than makes up for in substance. Honestly, outside of Blue Bottle in SF Pollys is some of the best fresh coffee I've had. Everyone working there knows their coffee and is super friendly and helpful. On top of it all, the WWII era, small batch coffee roaster hanging out in the back of the shop, that they still use today, just adds a sense of pride and history to the coffee they roast. I live just blocks from Pollys and my weekend treat is grabbing the Sunday paper, a large coffee and sitting out on their modest patio enjoying the weather. If you have yet to try Pollys dump whatever you are currently drinking and make a beeline to Belmont Shores. Trust you'll thank me. read more

Came here by mistake! I got a peanut butter cookie. The cookie was BIG 4 $1.00 no tax.The cookie was hard I wish it was soft. I learned about the "belmont shore naples island scavenger hunt". ™ I went 4/7/13 read more

4.5 stars. May update this rating after trying Rose Park Roasters nearby. They roast their own coffee, and this place has historical value. The backdoor patio could use an update, as it is their only real seating area, and it leaves much to be desired. A place that smells this good should invest in a larger indoor seating area so that people can linger to enjoy the amazing smell. read more

SO GOOD!!! I love that they roast beans right there in shop! I'm a coffee snob and have a habit of having 100%Kona shipped from Hawaii but after I discovered Polly's I may cancel my shipments. The beans are fresh, dark, and rich. mmmmmm good! read more

There may be hipper and grander coffee houses. But Mikes place is the real Belmont Shore coffee house. Good coffee at a reasonable price and a great meeting place. Don't miss it if you come see us in the shore. Ok the four stars makes people think I don't love it. Not so, they just stopped serving my favorite Apple Muffin. So I was grumpy. I'll change star rating! read more

Their coffee is the best. Talk about smooooth espresso! Wow. My wife and I came here because she heard how good the coffee is. We were very impressed. As far as atmosphere goes, it's not exactly a cool hangout lounge. But I don't think they try to be, either. They're all about the coffee. Yum! read more

I went here recently with my cousin who is a regular. Very nice vibe and friendly service. Sit inside surrounded by coffee paraphernalia, bags of beans or on large patio. Great place to meet or make friends. Will make this a regular stop when in LB. read more

I love coffee and coffee shops. Polly's is simply top-notch. Discovered it when I lived around the corner. Still make the out-of-the-way trip to go there even though I live further away. What a coffee shop should be. And I order coffee from them online. Tanzanian Peaberry FTW! read more

Cool place with good coffee. As the other reviewers mention, they roast their own coffee on site. How awesomely fresh and delicious is that? They even have a good recession-friendly promo going for a free ice blended mocha: http://www.qmania.com/coupon/?cid=174&bid=207 . Now that's what I call being customer friendly. Its neighborhood coffee shops like this that we need to support. read more

This place has a great selection of delicious teas. It's super comforting and cozy inside also. The treats are all delicious and freshly made so if you do not get there early enough your out of luck, but that just makes it even better. Staff is really kind and friendly. I came to this place because it was #1 in the area according to Yelp. How wrong that was. By far it was the worst coffee I've ever had. It tasted like burnt water and I couldn't even finish it. Save yourself the time and get some real coffee. read more

The smell of fresh roasted coffee is intoxicating. I can sit here for hours, (as some people do), just taking in the aroma. I can also sit outside if desired to people watch, which is always an enjoyable past time in this area, especially on Saturday mornings. I was also surprised to find an extended variety of very nice looking teas. I haven't tried them all yet, but I'm working on it. Go here and enjoy some solitude. read more

Polly's has the best coffee hands down. Peets is too strong tasting, Starbucks is too sweet and never more than lukewarm (too worried about lawsuits?). And though I love the hipper vibe at Portfolio on 4th and Junipero, their coffee drinks taste powdery to me. Polly's, on the other hand, offers a well-rounded cup o' joe for your drinking pleasure. read more

Though the cappuccino Royale is very delicious, especially when topped with a nice big dollop of whipped cream, I do not care so much for the staff. I went there for the first time yesterday after hearing lots of good things about this place. Though the girl that took my order seemed pretty nice, she also seemed do not know how to talk to somebody who is visually impaired. But that wasn't so bad compared to the guy that was working the cash register. I went with someone else who is also visually impaired and as she was trying to get her card back he kept wiggling his fingers because for some reason if he does that she'll be able to see it. I could kind of tell he was trying to do better as the minutes went by. But the whole interaction between him and the girl seemed a little standoffish. It was good coffee but I don't know if I'll go back there for a while. read more

Owners are very nice and welcoming! Coffee is freshly roasted right before your eyes and the pastries are delicious and fresh . I'll be back

After all the 5 star reviews, thought I'd check this place out. Maybe the reviews overhyped my expectations, but the place was just a normal coffee shop for me. I went on a Sunday afternoon to get some coffee and do some studying. The inside has a nice chill, laidback vibe. However, the inside only has about 4 small round tables to do anything at. There are a couple old comfy 2 seater sofas but sitting in them puts you at a level too low for the tables. There is an extensive outdoor patio seating area, but I did not experience that. Wifi was a little iffy. Mostly stable, but sometimes wouldn't work (similar to the stability and speed of a home network). As for the coffee, got a black velvet while the GF got a decaf iced coffee (I don't know if there was miscommunication or anything but that just turned out to be decaf coffee poured over ice. It was cold though). Black velvet was novel, a little intense, and I personally enjoyed the bits of crunchy chocolate covered espresso beans throughout. However, don't imaging craving or ordering it again. Also, there seems to be an extensive amount of coffee beans to buy by the pound, and other customers seemed happy with that. Owner and baristas seem very friendly, eager to have conversations and teach customers about coffee. However, this does interfere with the overall ambient noise level when trying to study. In summary, as a study coffee shop, not too good. But as a place to support non-chain coffee shops and chat with the people who work there if you're so inclined, then this is the place for you. read more

Two stars only because I really hate trashing a local small business. Unfortunately this place misses the mark in coffee, food and atmosphere. I wonder how they've managed to stay in business. The coffee taste like the old stuff at the bottom of the pot that's been sitting all day. Outside there's always the same old man chain smoking. The place is uninviting and dingy. Too bad because it's a great location. The competition is stiff for business in this area so you'd think they would step up their game. read more

Great coffee that they roast themselves. Try the Vienna Roast, whole bean, next time you need to buy a pound.

1) their coffe is better then Starbucks lately 2) it''s 2 blocks away from my home so it's a nice "last stop" at the end of 2nd street before going home 3) Free Wi-Fi!! the only thing i'd recommend for this place - is to make electric outlets more accessible or put extension cords near chairs read more

After suffering with in room coffees at the Disneyland Hotel, I was overjoyed to find this coffee and bakery at the LGB main terminal airport. On a warm beautiful sunny SoCal day, I got an iced coffee. As a coffee lover, you can always tell the quality of the coffee by how good it is when it's refrigerated. And this coffee was so yummy! The staff was very efficient and when I came back for a refill they only charged me a reg hot coffee (rather than the iced). Bonus points for the full coffee condiment bar with soy milk and honey! read more

I've lived in Long Beach for over a year and feel a bit guilty because I've walked past Polly's countless times without stopping... until a few weeks ago! Even from outside you can smell the delicious coffee roasting. My friend Brook introduced me to their amazing iced coffee - and for $2 you REALLY can't beat that! It has a very "mom & pops" feel to it and I believe in supporting independent businesses. Great coffee and good service. Plus they have a huge patio where you can relax and sip your coffee. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Don't pass it by like I did! :) read more
