I have one word: amazing. My relatives and I walked in, and were immediately sat down. I ordered the Lamb Haneeth, along with the lentil soup. The lamb was so tender, and it fell right off the bone. It was accompanied by a Zorbain rice pilaf, which was topped with zucchini and boiled potatoes. The tannoor bread was nice and crispy. I honestly loved the Fahsah. It was a great starter dish. The atmosphere in the restaurant feels nice and homey. The decoration highlights the bests parts of the main areas in Yemen, and I also liked the fountain at the entrance. It was pretty cool! Stumbled upon this place after a stroll through Dearborn. I'm having a hard time not mentioning the decor for the place. It was going through some renovations and half of the establishment had chairs on top of the tables. This was 5pm on a Thursday. There were also some weird smells, other than the smell of cooked food and spices. I can't describe it but it was there. I have lived in Dearborn for a lot of years and eaten at MANY Middle Eastern restaurants. I have eaten at the Sheeba in East Dearborn and thought that it was also just okay. The Yemeni food is a bit more like a meat and potatoes version of the Lebanese and Iranian food that I have come to love and enjoy. I'm not a big fan of meat and potatoes in American "cuisine", and it carries over to the Middle Eastern version as well. That said, the food here is just okay. I got one of their signature dishes and while the meat was soft, it was kinda dry. The rice was boring. The spices boring. And our service was terrible. I know that they were just getting going, so I will try to give it another chance. But the prices make me less inclined to do so.... so we shall see. Note to the business owner: please train your staff to come by and check on the patrons every once in a while. Providing the bill in a reasonable amount of time during the lunch hour is imperative, as MANY people dining during that time need to get back to work. We had to go ask someone else to get our bill for us because we hadn't seen our server in a very long time. read more

It's a large and elegant restaurant with upscale place settings and comfortable leather armchairs. I tried the lamb speciality, which was served with a choice of salad or lentil soup. The lentil soup was delicious, with a fresh and unique flavor. The lamb was tender, and served with some perfectly cooked rice and vegetables. It was a unique dish, but somewhat low on flavor. Good food, not great service. Started out being greeted by a kid. He sat us down, didn't say anything about menus. Since we weren't in a hurry, we figured someone would be by to provide some water and menus. He later brought ice water in a carafe, didn't stop long enough for us to ask about menus. Many waitresses passed us by. Again, not being in a hurry, we decided to wait to see how it went down. Literally about ten minutes later, the host comes by to ask us if we were ready to order. We don't have menus! He points out a small QR code on the edge of the table and walks away, all of us laughing (kinda). At this point we're getting just a lil hangry. Immediately we discover that our android phones do not translate the site well -- the menu was really difficult to read and to navigate. Yet another child comes to the table and says they'll get us a server (again, mind you, lots of servers had passed us while seeing to their tables, none of them stopped by ours). We finally order lamb hanitha and a salad. The lamb was DELICIOUS, but the salad was mainly iceberg with what seemed like taco seasoning sprinkled on top. The babaganoush was delicious, although it came with white onion, which we weren't a fan of. Nice ambiance decor-wise, solid furniture. The nice music was juuust this side of being too loud. Why do restaurants sometimes like to blast the sound? And there was a blinking (malfunctioning) light above the door facing the street; if we had been sat any closer to it, we would have had to be moved. Finally, a permeating smell was in the place -- not sure if it was incense or burning sugar, but it was powerful. Not too powerful to overwhelm the meal, but powerful enough that we both separately noticed it and did not like it. Packing up to go we were offered CHEAP doggie bags and a hot towel. Weird! Might go back, might not, there are too many other places with similar food with a better experience. The waiter I got, Abdul was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the items in the menu. He explained to me in detail how the menu item is cooked and what comes with it. I also got coffee and he asked whether I would like before during or after the meal. They also bring out hot towels after the meal which is a really nice touch. But I can say that Sheeba offers an entirely new profile of flavors, textures and ingredients that are refreshing and welcome! My best advice: get the Lamb. Lamb anything. Lamb Haneeth. Lamb Fattah. Lamb Sheeba. Everything we ordered with lamb was spectacular. Most especially the haneeth. The ingredients are so fresh! We had a small salad with their special ginger dressing -- every vegetable was flavorful, crisp and in its prime. The entrees are sophisticated yet accessible. I felt as if I was being fed by a home cook, serving their family's best recipes, perfected over generations. They have several instructing shakes and juices I plan to go back and try. They lost 1 star because they did not have meat kabob and also because the sauce/salsa that came with the bread did not have s secure lid and spilled all Over the bag when delivered. And also our dessert was undercooked. It is made with layers of thin and flakey dough with sesame seeds and honey atop. But this time, the dough, except the very top layer, was completely raw. We heard great things and the reviews seem to align but our experience was not the same -- price is high for the dishes and it certainly does not meet expectations or even come close. We asked for potatoes in one of the dishes and they said they could accommodate but upon receiving our dish, we noticed it was literally diced french fries placed on top. Lol. Laughable, really, but not for a $33 dish -- next time just be honest and say it cannot be done. It's simple. All of the dishes were pretty bland as well and not at all what we expected. The tea was overly sweet and yet watered down. Unfortunately, we will not give it another chance while visiting or recommend. There are a few times in my life when the customer service has been above and beyond. This is one of them. Not only were we greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival, the servers thoroughly explained the menu to us and what are the favorite dishes and what were in them. In the hustle and bustle of Motor City, there are a lot of choices of where to eat. There is awesome diversity and it is fun to go to the many different types of restaurants Detroit has to offer. As avid Indian food lovers, we were surprised at how similar Mediterranean food was to our Indian food favorites. If you've never tried Mediterranean food, Indian is a good comparison. We didn't know what to order but the servers were very helpful and recommended the best things. They were very tolerant of our noisy kids and chaotic table. My kids had a great time and felt welcome. I was searching for a good meal and something gluten free on a recent business trip. After striking out at several other establishments and losing my appetite, I literally wandered into this place because from the parking lot. I love middle eastern food and figured it would be great to check the menu for a future visit. It was Ramadan so the menu was limited but I was immediately greeted by the most wonderful people, including the manager Osama. We talked about my food allergy and he asked me some questions to better understand my sensitivity but also to explore what I liked. Before I knew it, he brought out a small sample of the most wonderful braised lamb I've ever eaten. Wow! I can't recall if I have ever had Yemeni food before or not? Either way, I can't wait to try this full menu when I am back in town. I was unable to go back the next day because of a schedule conflict, but I will be dining here hopefully soon. The food is truly incredible and authentic to the Yemeni culture. The place is very well decorated to tell the history of the Yemeni culture but an upscale restaurant form. Fahsa is probably my favorite food item with the fresh made bread. Their soups and salads are actually quite exceptional as well. This second location in West Dearborn is not as good as their first location in East Dearborn. Our table was dirty and the floors were not clean, we had to wait for a worker to come clean our table so we stood there awkwardly waiting. We never got our drinks until we were almost finished with our dinner. The bread and Fahsah was amazing per usual, however my entree which was the Lamb Haneeth was not tasty. There was barely any meat and the rice had a off taste to it that I can't really explain into words, it just didn't taste good. One of my new favorite restaurants in Michigan!! The food was incredible and the service was even better. A young gentleman named Owad (I believe) was our server and he was one of the nicest and most genuine people I've met mashallah (his parents raised him well that's for sure!). Another man who appeared to be the manager or owner came by every once and a while to check up on us and see if we needed anything. He brought us Yemeni tea at the end which was so good! A friend brought us here before we left to a flight back home to Seattle and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Looking through my reviews, you can see that I like food from all over. But I do have a preference for Middle East cuisine: Syrian, Lebanese, Persian (not quite the middle east, but close), Moroccan, etc. Now, Yemeni is on this list. I have been to Sheeba in East Dearborn many times, and was very happy to see that a location was open now in West Dearborn - so much closer to home. And the fact that it opened up in a closed restaurant is even better. We don't want empty buildings! On a snowy Friday evening in January, a most unlikely group had an excellent meal - two from Bahrain, two from Australia and me. What a great meal we shared! We ordered the platter for four which had Lamb and Chicken Haneeth & Galabah with rice, fries and a bowl of Fahsah, was there lamb in this? It was fab. Great choice, with tons of leftovers! The lamb and chicken was perfectly prepared - and I expected no less from my experiences at the other location. Fall off the bone goodness over perfect rice, with a delicate array of spices - I just wanted to keep eating more. The waitress was friendly, kept the water glasses filled, offered little glasses of a spiced tea with cinnamon and cloves - so perfect on a cold evening.
