My wife and I were staying at a nearby hotel so we went here for dinner. We were disappointed with the food. My wife's beef taco salad tasted very bland. Very little, if any, seasoning. I had the beef enchiladas. That too was very bland. The mango margarita I had was a disappointment. I think they forgot to add the tequila. The service was fine until friends of the waitress arrived. It's deceptively big in this place. Looks small from the back entrance. Ordered guacamole, small, Mexican tacos with chicken, tostadas with chicken and beans only. The waitress told us the large guacamole is quite large. I am curious to know what the large guacamole looks like. The small one us small. It's not bad, fresh and chunky. Their house salsa is thicker, not a lot of flavor or oomph. They do have a spicier salsa. The spicy salsa is hot for sure, the flavor grows over the bites. The street tacos were okay. The tostada corn tortilla was quite crunchy and stayed intact throughout the meal for the most part too. The chicken for the taco and the tostada were small ground pieces of chicken. I placed a $40 order for pick up (chicken fajita and chicken quesadilla grande), got it home, The husband was disgusted, he said it was tasteless. Nothing like how it was when we ordered it last month. He was right. Then my kid entered the kitchen saying HIS quesadilla has a heavy PLASTIC like smell and taste to it. The food there is USUALLY edible. So I begrudgingly packed it up and took it back to complain. They flat out did not care that I was completely unhappy with our meals. Not only did they not issue any kind of comp, the manager threatened to call the cops if I decided to linger and get uppity. So No. Do not bother patronizing this place. They obviously do not give a crap whether or not you'll like your food. Loyal customers means nothing to them. All that matters to them apparently is that they GOT their money from you. $40 wasted, now we need dinner from elsewhere. And because I HATE WASTE.... I try to decide beforehand lest I get tempted by the steak fajitas or, my favorite, enchiladas. The restaurant was fairly large with entrances at the front and back, to be near parking. I expected it to be full given that restaurants in downtown Dearborn tend to get that way during lunch, which incidentally lasts several hours. That was not the case here so the restaurant was able to accommodate our larger group, as well as one other, and some smaller tables throughout the large space. I ordered the grilled Mahi salad without the fried shell or the refried beans. No need to add unwanted calories or carbs. This Tex Mex restaurant currently occupies the same space that Los Galanes used to operate from. I really wasn't a big fan of the previous place, but I decided to give Don Taco Bar a chance for a Taco Tuesday takeout dinner. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. All the meats were cooked perfectly and nothing was dry or chewy. The sides were above average at best, but the menu is surprisingly robust (they even have breakfast options which I'm looking forward to trying in the future). I hate to give this a place a bad review, but the way a mistake was handled by the manager is crazy to me. In a time that the pandemic has taken businesses away from so many, the manager at Don Taco seems not to care for their customers, their reputation, or public health/safety. I ordered dinner on my break from work (I was working late) and decided to take a break and pick up food for this evening. It was about 3 hours (8:30pm) before I got around to actually eating it. Into the fridge it went. I ordered chicken burritos, so it wasn't clear the order was wrong until I started to plate my dinner. They had given me beef instead of chicken. I called up to the restaurant and the waitress that took my order answered. I explained the situation and her reply was "I think you ordered beef"- I wouldn't be calling if that was the case. She got the manager. Immediately he was defensive. First saying I ordered the wrong meal. Then, rudely asking me why I was calling three hours after I had picked up the food (this is where I start to get angry). Finally, he says well we have to have the food back, and we're about to close.....(gross, and how are you taking back food that has been in someone's home)! Ever hear of something called COVID? - but instead.... Silence. He starts to get more aggravated and says bring it back tomorrow morning for a credit. I won't be stepping foot back into this establishment, and even if I was, I would not be returning food for an error on your part. A $12 meal cost you a customer, think about that! read more

Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, all the staples are available, as well as some specialties that I've never personally experienced. It was a bit hit and miss. The server was great. Queso & hot salsa were amazing. Therefore, the California burito was bit of a let down. It's huge but it's almost ENTIREY FILLED with RICE.
