MC feels like a hole in the wall sort of place, with a lot of character and great vibe. It is a but snug inside because there isn't too many seating options. We did see that there is an outdoor seating upstairs but with how cold it's been, don't think it's open just yet. Parking is available in the back, as well as their main entrance). I missed it the first time, but they do have a stand with a big M. They have a pretty good selection of liquor and pretty $$$. In order to see the prices of each item, you gotta scan the qr code which is on the top right corner of the menu. The food was pretty good but on the pricer end. Which I totally get, with how the service is! We got an appetizer, a few dishes to split and a dessert. By the time we finished the main dishes, the waitress took all the plates and brought us new silverware for the delicious churro and ice cream. This is an updated review. The first time I went was for dinner. I gave this spot a 5/5. I was excited to take my cousin for lunch. She's also an elite reviewer and I wanted to show off my newly beloved hidden gem. However, maybe lunch is just not a good time to go. When we walked in my cousin was told she's not allowed to take pictures inside the restaurant so you can't see the ambiance. This was the first time I was ever told that. But, later we asked if we could take pictures of the food and we were told yes. So not the biggest deal but something to note for other reviewers. So, the tortillas from the chicken tacos were cold. The waitress kept coming back and lingering to take our order, and rush us out. She even made the comment "you guys are slow eaters." It felt very uncomfortable. We usually like to go to lunch we order appetizers (ceviche and soup), then an entree (tacos). Usually we get dessert and drinks but due to the waitress we decided to skip on these and just leave. We were sat upstairs so I guess she didn't like to keep going up and down. However no one else was dining in at the time so I'm not sure what the rush was. The waitress even made the comment that she was the owners sister in law. She came up to me and asked me if I was his neighbor and stated my last name and asked if I was related to another restaurant owner. She took my phone number at the beginning, I'm not sure why there was no wait. So I am unsure if that's how she got my name because I didn't give it to her. Which was just uneasy to me. This is a cool place. Food was good and they had a ton of sauces. I felt the prices were a bit high in my opinion for both the food and drinks so for that reason I probably will not return but food was good. Service was alright but overall not very friendly and wasn't wowed by my visit. 1 star - This felt like an intentional scam This place is deeply deceptive, and I would warn anyone to be extremely careful dining here. The menu has no prices listed anywhere. There is a small QR code, but the waiter never told us that's where the prices were hidden. We were never informed what anything cost. Given that this is Mexican food in Dearborn, we reasonably did not expect anything outrageous. The original bill was already around $200, which was shocking on its own. Then, without explanation or warning, gratuity was already included, and the total ended up being close to $400. Let me be very clear: this did NOT include drinks -- we didn't order any. $400 for food alone, with hidden pricing, is absurd. The food itself was also unacceptable. The tacos tasted burnt and inedible. When we asked to swap them out, management refused and alluded to the idea that customers purposely return food, which was insulting and dismissive. Instead of addressing a legitimate quality issue, they implied we were acting in bad faith. Between the hidden prices, the surprise mandatory gratuity, the shockingly inflated bill, and management that treats customers like scammers, this experience felt intentionally predatory. This isn't upscale dining -- it's a setup designed to take as much money as possible while offering zero accountability. Bad food. Worse service. Shady management practices. I felt like I was sitting in Polanco in Mexico City with this level of gourmet food. the salsas/guac included with the chips were insanely good, I would have been happy if that were my only part of my meal. strawberry lemonade was DELICIOUS! topped with strawberry chunks and a lemon slice. the tlayuda was also very delicious. not pictured, but the chocolate lava cake we got at the end was to die for. I was stunned by the pricing here. Had lunch by myself on a weekday. Three small steak tacos were $30, and a single iced tea effectively cost over $11 after tax and their mandatory 20% service fee. My total for 3 tacos and one iced tea was $47.88. The food was fine but absolutely not worth luxury-pricing levels, especially with forced tipping baked in. You don't expect to walk in for tacos and walk out feeling financially mugged. Transparency is badly needed -- diners deserve to know what they're paying before ordering. read more

This place could easily be a five star restaurant. The only thing that makes it less is that they insist that you must have a reservation and makes you put up a card to make one. And the way they try to enforce it, especially when the restaurant is empty on slow days is very off putting. But... and this is a serious but, the food and drinks will make you forget any bad taste that's left in your mouth from the host stand experience. The decor is culturally themed and gives the place a really authentic feel. There is dining room seating with a nice view of the kitchen, a bar, an outdoor patio, and an upstairs with room for larger groups. They have the largest tequila collection around and they will split a pour in two to share which makes for a nice date night tasting experience. The food is simply amazing! If you read the reviews with low ratings, it is easy to see the reviews are not based on the food or drinks. This place was truly amazing. This smaller venue on Michigan Ave between Schaefer and I-94 is two floors and has an unbelievably selection of tequilas, bourbons and scotches; like next level bottles! 50 year old scotch? Hundreds of unicorn bottles of bourbon? One of, if not the, largest selection of agave spirits in the country. The craft cocktails were some of the best I had ever had. (By far the best Manhattan I have ever had.) John was a waiter and he was absolutely amazing. We started our meal with chips and salsa which actually came with salsa, pico, guacamole and bean dip with a side of the Mexican street corn. This was also served with a hot sauce try of 18 different hot sauces from Peanut to El Diablo! For our meal, we split Peking Duck Tacos and Braised Short Rub Tacos. The Peking Duck was the best taco I have ever tasted in my life! We ended our meal with the Cinco Leches cake which was light and delightful. This is my second time visiting this place and I will be back again. It's not close to my home but worth the drive. Outstanding atmosphere, they have an upstairs and downstairs both with full bar access. The entire staff were amazing! I wish I remembered our waiter's name to list it here- he was phenomenal! Attentive and advised a drink called the Cubico and we subbed for Mezcal tequila (not pictured) that was out of this world! The presentation of the drink was very fragrant in the best way! BE WARNED!!! Hands down, one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The worst part, aside from the overpriced & underwhelming food and margaritas, was how incredibly rude and disrespectful the manager was to us. I've never been treated so badly by anyone working in a restaurant. Frankly, our jaws were on the floor after she walked away, with no attempt to resolve our issue. The server was nice, and we had good rapport with her, but she was pretty pushy in trying to get us to order "extras" that come with upcharges. We started with a margarita (no salt) and guacamole. The margarita came with a lot of salt and spice so we sent it back and she brought the correct order. No problem there. Before the guac came, we ordered two taco dinners-- steak fajita tacos and the special scallop tacos. I will preface this by saying that nothing we ordered indicated having jalapeños it. I always double check because I have a sensitivity to spice and told the server that when she tried to upsell me on a jalapeño margarita. Then the guacamole came. Man, it was really spicy! I asked the server about it and we were told that their guac has jalapeños in it and sometimes it comes out spicier than other times. Ok... I didn't complain, just only ate a little bit and worked around the chunks. Then our tacos came. We noticed right away that the steak fajita tacos didn't have much actual steak in them, but started to eat. I took one bite and my mouth was on fire! I couldn't eat those tacos at all. When I asked the server if they could remake them without spice, she basically said, no, that's how they come and sometimes the onions and peppers are spicy. But if I put some garlic sauce on it that will help. What?? Made no sense. I pressed about it and said I can't eat them and could they please remake them without whatever spicy thing was added. She basically gave me a bunch of excuses and said she could box them up and maybe someone else would want them and I could order something else. I was like, uh no thanks, can I speak to the manager? Little did I know I was in for a nasty surprise. While waiting for her to arrive, I tried the scallop tacos. The scallops were undercooked. Gross. This is where it got really bad. First of all, the manager had an attitude as soon as she approached the table. When I told her the tacos were way too spicy for me to eat, she said that the fajita tacos come with guac and pico de gallo and both of those have jalapeños. I kindly said, right, but it's not clear that they are made with jalapeños and had I known, I wouldn't have ordered that. She continues to school me on how pico de gallo is always made with jalapeños, and proceeded to show me the menu and say, "you saw the menu and it says they have guacamole and pico", I said again that I eat guacamole and pico at Mexican restaurants all the time and they are never this spicy. She then said I was trying to tell her how they should make their food. I most certainly was not, and suggested that perhaps they should denote items that are spicy on the menu so guests know and don't order it if they are sensitive to spice. She basically said she is Mexican so she should know and I should have known when I ordered the tacos because the ingredients were listed. I again said that the menu doesn't indicate jalepenos.. and around again we went. She was relentless in scolding me. I asked her why she was being so rude and she finally said, is there anything else I can help you with? I said, well you're not willing to fix the issue so I guess not. We never even had a chance to mention the undercooked scallops. We looked at eachother in complete shock that this is how they run their business. I was excited to go to M Cantina, but after the extreme rudeness, and the $170 price tag for a shitty dinner, I promise we will never be back. P.s. Such a cool place! Please be aware that reservations are required. I was able to make one on the spot, and was seated upstairs. An extremely helpful server explained the specials and gave some of her recommendations. I went with some chips and salsa to start with. These aren't complimentary, but they are so good, that I didn't mind. They were freshly fried, still warm, and properly salted. The chips come with guacamole, a black bean dip, pico, and a salsa. I really like the guacamole, though it was spicy! The black bean dip was also delicious. The salsa seemed superfluous as I was presented with a tray of 20 different salsas, ranging from mild peanut to super hot (don't remember the name). I really liked the aioli flavored salsa, but it was hot! I ordered the short rib tacos, and they were good. I wish the mole bbq sauce tasted more of mole, and less of like bbq, but that's just because I'm not a huge bbq sauce fan. The tacos were delicious with a combination of the avocado salsa and serrano salsa (suggested by my server). I would order these again, but there's lots of other things I'd like to try first. read more

I stumbled across M Cantina and was pleasantly surprised at how high quality this restaurant was. Came for the margaritas left with a forever date night spot. The corn was spectacular it wasn't your classic cotija and mayo either. The quad chips and salsa dip was amazing as well, I'm in love with the black bean queso. Our margaritas were beautiful especially mine with the real roses included. I was excited for the ceviche which was terrible but a bit too sweet for me, next time I'll request more jalapeño, the shrimp and scallop portions were good. The bar itself was insane, according to our host it's the biggest tequila bar in the country with their most expensive bottle being a Patron that $2500 a shot. Chips: one of the appetizers that come in. Served with 4 different condiments. Salsa, Pico, Bean and Guac which was really nice so you can stack a chip however you like it. Chapulines: I seen it in travel shows and always2q been wanting to try it. Omg, it's so good. Top a few of these on a nacho chip, a little pico, drizzle some bean salsa and down the hatch. Or you can smash em as is. Extreme yummy mode breh! Chicatanas: These were interesting,, they're pretty good. Top a nacho chip with em or as is as well. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer the crickets better. Main Event Mode Tacos of the Day: They were serving Peking Duck tacos that day. Since I'm partial to duck, I was totally about it. Sauce, meat, fixing, and over all flavor. Tick, tick, tick and tick! Just watch the sodium,, este tacos un poco demasiado salado. Slow Roasted Pork Tacos: Esta comeda para mi marido. I traded him one of my duck for his pork. It's definitely super good. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. Dessert Cinco Leches Cake: If you've heard of tres leches,, say hello to the cinco leches. Because 3 is not enough you gotta do 5 types of milk. This one's super dope. I loved it and would totally eat this dessert again. This place is really dope. I like the fact that they're unapologetic with their cuisine. This definitely gets major points in my score card. Service was also super amazing, we were taken cared of in the best way possible. I live for experiences and this is exactly what I got at M Cantina. Amazing!!! You can find parking behind the restaurant and enter from the back or front. Once we parked, we were greeted by a friendly employee that let us know our table would be available soon. While we waited, we were able to sit at the bar. We were provided an iPad with the list of drinks made by the liquid chef. Note: noting can be substituted or modify; but don't let the ingredients scare you because you will we soooo happy with the experience. I was! I tried three drinks - South of the Rim, Cubico, and Fresco Picante. They were sooo amazing! The liquid chef aka bartender makes very unique drinks. I can't wait to go back to try more. Time for the food. Amazing!!! We started off with the esquites with cheese and grasshoppers. I'm a big fan of trying new things and this did not disappoint. If you think it's weird, the grasshoppers tasted like seeds. Who doesn't like cheese and corn? Pair this combo with all the amazing sauces, you will sure be happy. This place is great! A little off the beaten path in Dearborn - you have to go in through the back door and there is a small parking lot. The décor is really cool - lots of lit up skulls and such - a very nicely lit bar. I also love that you can see the kitchen - it's my favorite part about going out to dinner here. They were very busy - reservations only, I believe, on a Friday night. But we had excellent service the whole time, and didn't wait too long to get food. I started with one of their alcohol free drinks - it was lovely, and there are lots of NA options, which I really appreciate. Drinks made with fresh fruit and herbs and served in nice glassware. Perfect! As for food, we had a chicken flatbread that was really delicious and savory and we split an order of fajitas with extra tortillas. Those were the best fajitas I've had in awhile and I was very impressed with the array of homemade sauces. Its unfortanate because the tacos may just be the best I have ever had. Was really looking forward to bringing friends of mine visiting from New Mexico. New Mexico being one of the best places for food on the planet. But we were turned away for having a 9 yr old child. Apparently children under 13 are prohibited which I find to be absolute insanity. Nevertheless I cannot in good conscience recommend to eat anywhere that is against the family even with food this good. It really ruined our entire day. But I understand each business has their own rules. The tacos here are amazing....but I would not go there again which breaks my heart. We drove down 1.5 hrs from Owosso. Its a darn shame. read more
