    Chicken and Steak Taco
    Kai L.

I've passed this place a lot, but was not aware that it was a Mexican restaurant. It's a small but cozy restaurant. I went around 1 PM shortly after lunch. There were not a lot of people there, maybe a few others, but the service was quite slow. They only had one waitress that was also the hostess and worked carry out as well. She was nice and friendly, did not give us a hard time at all. It did take a while for our food to come out, but in the meantime, they gave us chips and salsa with a side of different salsas to try. I loved the green avocado salsa. (Bought a large one to-go) The complementary tacos were delicious! I ordered the chicken and steak. Both were well seasoned and delicious. We did order two entrées, one was the chicken chimichanga and the other was chicken enchiladas. Also I ordered a classic margarita. They give you nice size portions of food. The chicken chimichanga was good, chicken enchiladas were a little bland. Overall, great experience and I'm glad I was able to try a new place. I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

Walking into this place you are welcomed right away. Someone greets you and either asked you how they could help you. Service like that is very nice and something you want in a business. We were directed to sit where ever we wanted. At the time, there was no one else there. After we sat down, other customers came in for take out. Our waiter came right away with menus and some chips and salsa. My husband and I got some tacos and a torta. They have a full bar as well which is nice. The food was good. I got a shrimp taco and a chorizo taco. The torta my husband and I shared was carne Asada. The food came out pretty fast and the waiter was very attentive. He answered all out questions. The food was pretty good and the peanut sauce was amazing. Never had that kind of sauce to put with our food. Overall, the place look good, the service was excellent and the food was good.

La Jali in Taylor is quite the find! The staff are warm and friendly, and the space looks great, with colorful papel picado hung all around - excellent vibe! The horchata is fantastic. It tastes like the kind someone makes at home, with that "liquid rice pudding" comfort that took me straight back to childhood. The corn tortilla tacos were spot on. The vegetarian option was an unexpected favorite, and the birria and carne asada were both tender, well seasoned, and cooked just right. Portions were generous without feeling heavy. The chicken burrito was another standout. It stayed light and fluffy instead of turning into the usual dense brick. The rice, beans, chicken, lettuce, and other fillings were in good balance, so every bite felt even and you could actually taste each component. They were out of tripas, which stung a bit since it is rare to see that on a menu in southeast Michigan. That alone gives me a built-in reason to come back though! All in all, La Jali could easily hold its own against spots in Mexicantown. Taylor is very lucky to have this place!

We stopped in on a Saturday just after the lunch rush and had a fantastic experience! The restaurant was very clean, and there were only a few other tables, so it felt nice and relaxed. I tried the chicken and steak street tacos along with an horchata--both were delicious! My daughter loved her chicken quesadilla, and I also ordered a birria burrito. The burrito was packed with mozzarella, lettuce, guacamole, beans, and rice. A great touch was that both entrees came with a side of grilled onion and jalapeño. Don't skip the chips and salsa, either! Beyond the food, I was impressed by the facility. The women's restroom was huge and extraordinarily clean. They also have a cute shop area selling snacks, hats, a tortilla press, and other authentic items. If we lived closer, this would be our regular spot. We will definitely be back soon!

We came to try this spot out for lunch. It was incredible. It made me a bit sad that this place was not busy. Let's fill their tables up. The service was on point, the food was awesome, and everything was so clean and inviting. My kid, who typically is not a fan of Mexican food actually asked to go back. My wife and I tried the carne asada, chorizo and chicken tacos, which were all great. I ordered the Bisteka Bandera which is a spicy steak with jalapeños. My wife got a Birria burrito that was huge and tasty. My kid had a quesadilla with their chicken. Please support this small business. They need love and more recognition. We will be making the 40 minute drive more frequently now.

I was already a big fan of the original location but I stopped by here for a yelp event and got princess treatment!! I already knew the food was going to be too tier and it was! I ordered a Paloma and for a minute thought I felt the warm sun and sand under my feet. 10/10

The food was good.they have a huge menu with so many options to choose from. The dining room is not very big and the poor waitress was running around so much trying to keep up with her tables she had. She was all by herself. There also was only one cook. To have the yelp event and to only have that little staff was shooking to me I rsvp for the event but never got chosen but went anyways because I love Mexican food and support local restaurants. I will be back to try other items but I am patient because if it's busy if there is only 2 people staff they only can do so much. I love the deco they had. So festive

What a great experience with a great staff . I had the vegetarian tacos and a Fresca. My family had beef tacos. Great atmosphere, cute decor. Easy parking and a beautiful atmosphere. The chips and salsa were delicious. The drive down Telegraph was totally worth it. We will definitely be returning again. Such a gem. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. Definitely recommend.

Love the space--colorful, warm, and full of thoughtful details like the papel picado, market shelves, and cozy booths. The service was excellent--really kind, welcoming, and attentive without feeling rushed. I ordered two tacos: one asada and one birria de chivo, and both were excellent. The asada was tender and well-seasoned, while the birria was rich, juicy, and deeply flavorful. Tortillas were lightly crisped, toppings were fresh, and the salsas and grilled pepper on the side tied everything together. Chips and salsa were solid, and the horchata was creamy and well balanced. Authentic, comforting food in a welcoming space--I'd absolutely come back.

Cozy interior with a colorful and cheery atmosphere, attentive and friendly service, fresh and authentic menu options. The chips and salsa were good, nice flavor, crunchy chips. Authentic pottery and trinkets for sale at very reasonable prices. Clean, roomy, beautiful restrooms. They serve halal meats. The mocktail selection was insane!!! ACTUALLY interesting, flavorful, genuine Mexican options. The mocktail menu was very well thought out and I LOVE that. Cannot wait to go back to try them. Taco Tuesday has $1.50 street tacos from 11-6PM. Food was tasty-- more on the plain side, not overly spiced. Very accessible. Toppings were generous like cheese and pico de gallo. Will be returning!

I talked to the manager and he said they did start adding a sauce or salsa. It ruined my favorite dish that we came there for 37 years before Covid. We all would get it. My family decided to celebrate my husband's birthday there very recently I decided what can go wrong with my second favorite Chicken Fajitas. Well, the below is what I got. Only a couple little green pepper pieces, a couple onion pieces and more tomato pieces than both peppers and onions. Where are the peppers and onions? This picture is the whole meal all burnt and dry. This is such a downgrade from a typical fajita. I dipped a chicken piece in sour cream to wash it down, it was dry. I brought it home and my son ate it and couldn't believe what he saw when I said it was Chicken fajitas. He hated it, it lacked all the flavors that make it good and it was hard to chew. I've tried a lot of foods there, I am not fond of anything but the 2 loyal dishes I loved. Both have been destroyed. If you add salsa to a chimichanga then you won't notice a difference but if you don't you certainly will notice the flavor change. For 37 years it was our favorite place, now it's the very bottom of a list of places to eat, actually we have nothing to order from there anymore. I couldn't even enjoy the hot tea, I asked for lemon and was told you don't have any but gave me a lime ruined the tea! I read on one review you said it's the same as it always was there but you're wrong, chimichangas are not as they used to be after adding the red sauce in it, lemons gone, dry fajitas without peppers and onions you can actually taste and see. Your quality of food has definitely changed for the worst, regardless of you saying otherwise. I will not tell people how great your place is anymore but tell them not to go if they're expecting the chimichangas they've loved for years, because they're gone. 2 different restaurants with Chicken fajitas 2 different presentations- which is more desirable looking. And yes this is the amount of fajitas minus 1 small piece of chicken on the last picture that Mexican Gardens gave, for $20- with a little guacamole, sour cream and rice on a side plate. Price is not justifiable to us considering the quality of this dish I got. The last 2 times we went the restaurant wasn't even half full, which is odd considering every other time in the past before past 2 years we had to wait quite a while to get in and not hardly any empty seats. With a table for 8 it took about 5-10 minutes to put it together. The only 2 times in 37 years the restaurant wasn't full and it was a weekend when it's usually very packed in the past, and those 2 times were within about 6 weeks recently this year. So sad it used to be one of the very best, we passed over all other Mexican restaurants to go there, not anymore. So sorry to leave this horrible review but thats how bad our experience was.

Taco's were well made, with double corn tortillas, packed full of meat , no skimping here, and just cilantro and onions. Definately very authentic Mexican style taco's and not the Americanized versions you find throughout the area. My only qualm, which was minor, was that the meat was lacking the seasoning I like when in Mexico which gives the flavor pop that I personally like. I took care of this with some salt and pepper along with salsa to tune the taco to my personal taste. Relative to the Salsa, there was a walk up Salsa bar with multiple Salsa's to select from which I truly liked and reminded me of one of my favorite Taco Joints in Puerto Vallarta, Taco's Revolution. These salsa bars, are quite convenient and act as a "Fixing bar" that allows you to tailor the taco to your personal taste. I have not seen this before in this area and wished more businesses did it. They also need to add the cucumbers (dont knock it till you try it) and some onions as well to complete the fixing bar. (: Food comes with gratis nicely mildly seasoned chips which I really liked. The seasoning is more than just salt, quite tasty and unique to this business, Very nice! Relative to the facility and staff, the restaurant is a no frills operation and has a relatively small footprint with a limited number of tables which is probably something to keep in mind during peak dining hours. Clearly they let the food do the talking here. Staff is very friendly with prompt service and good follow up throughout. Overall a very good Mexican restaurant as reflected in the good Yelp reviews. When I called the server over to get something different because it was not edible they told me THIS AIN'T BURGER KING YOU CAN'T HAVE IT YOUR WAY. We were shocked. It was so dark in there that I could swear my bedroom has more light when I go to bed at night. There was something crawling on the wall at the next booth over and when I told my boyfriend he stopped eating and dropped his jaw. We rarely eat out and I always cook. My kitchen is wiped down with bleach every night before I go to bed, and dishes are in the dishwasher to be washed. My kitchen is very clean and I know what I put in my food. I have no idea what they served us but it was not edible. I had to use the restroom before we left because we had an hour drive back home. There was no toilet paper and toilet had yellow drops on the seat. I walked out and we stopped off at McDonald's down the street to use their restroom and while we were there we got some food there and I'm not a big fan of McDonald's at all and that Big Mac that has nasty meat tasted better than the food looked at Manuel's I don't know who the F is running Manuel's anymore but they may as well shut down because we had no good experience at all with place.
