I've driven by this place a lot of time but never noticed it. My wife and I saw a listing and we decided to try it. I'm glad we did. It is a small family run type of place. There are only 3 booths and two tables. The place is clean and is equipped with some modern signage. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Atmosphere, as I said small and homey. Lots of windows to view the outside world. Prices seemed reasonable for where you are but really got my attention was the food itself Placed our order and the food appeared in a reasonable timeframe. When I tasted my shredded beef burrito I was hooked. It was good. Three burritos covered with cheese (I like mine without the cheese) alongside rice and beans. Beans were pretty good as was the rice but there is no doubt that the burrito took center stage. Drinks are on the lesser side of the equation as there is a cooler with what drinks are available. They do have Mexican soda and carry out. Well that's about it. Close to my home, reasonable prices, good food and friendly staff. Will I go back? The meat here actually tastes like something. They also serve it up generously. I know it looks like a suburban hole in the wall but yummy. We got nachos because my husband is obsessed. For nachos they were fine but be aware nachos would have to be other worldly to impress me at this point. I am nacho-ed out. They were chips with good toppings and I'm sure if you still like nachos these would do it for you. The chimi combo though? OMG. They let me mix and match. The shredded meats stuffed in massive quantities into non-greasy fried tortilla shells. The shredded beef was my fave, having a real depth with a variety of spices that danced across my tongue. Super moist but in a perfectly crispy shell. Speaking of moist the chicken was fantastic, perfectly seasoned and shredded. I could not begin to finish this massive portion. You should probably just get one but damn when I return I'll probably still get two because I want both of these again. I'm still thinking about the meat. Salsas were tasty. Particularly the hot. Beans and rice were good. They are super friendly here and dine in worked. I was surprised at how nice our experience was. Stopped in for the first time a couple evenings ago for dinner. Greeted right away. Order at the counter and they bring it out. Seating for about 20. Very clean inside. They brought out chips and salsa pretty quickly. Chips were hot but needed sone seasoning. Salsa was not memorable. We ordered the basic ground beef tacos and the shredded pork tamales. Rice and beans came as well. We really did not like anything very much. Very generic food. Other reviewers have said they would like to try other menu items and we may. Service is 5 stars. The owner is very nice and the place looks clean and bright. We order to go. We had the burrito and botana. The botana was ok the chorizo was clumped on one side there wasn't much cheese except on top and the some of the avocados were brown. It should be evenly spread through out the tortillas. The burrito didn't have much flavor and we asked for guacamole that they charger $2 for a small container that you put sauce on the side in. read more

Not only was the food wonderful but so was the customer service at the Livonia store. The gentleman at the counter was so helpful. Really, he was, I came in in a frantic mess and he still helped me (probably wanted me out of his store). I am so grateful to this person that I thought I should put it out there how wonderfully I was treated. My parking brake went on and I couldn't get it to turn off. He offered to help me (along with the other customers) where these days that is such a rare thing. To make a long story short, I would urge everyone to try this place. I really liked Don Betos. The food was really good and reasonably priced. My only disappointment was that they messed up my order and I had takeout, so I didn't go back. There was a pretty big challenge communicating with the gentleman who took my order. He was very nice but really struggled understanding what I wanted, which was directly off the menu. Plus, they got a new POS system and he didn't seem to know how to used it very well. 2 of our 4 dishes were wrong. That being said, it was still very good and I will go back. This restaurant was a great option for my non-vegan family and my vegan husband and me. We put our orders in via the phone and it was ready within 20 minutes. The food was still really warm after bringing it back home and was delicious. My dad ordered tacos, which looked delicious. My mom ordered the #6 - she loved the taco and cheese enchilada but thought the chimichanga was only okay. I ordered the refried bean burrito with no cheese and asked that they add enchilada sauce - YUM! The beans were delicious and it came with lettuce inside and beans and rice in the side. My husband got the vegetarian mega/super burrito (we can't remember the name) with no cheese or sour cream and loved it. I got the hot salsa and thought it was great. It wasn't extremely hot to the point where it was unpleasant - it was the perfect amount of spice. read more

The inside was generously stuffed with shredded chicken that was dried out and tasteless. There was nothing else inside the burrito. Adding ingredients wasn't offered. Really good experience here. The owner is a fantastic guy. We ate there tonight after flying in from Boston and were starving. I'm always on the hunt for a good Mexican restaurant. We went in and they were very busy and I hadn't realized that all these people were there basically at 5 minutes to closing. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. He kept the place open and only reluctantly told new walk-ins they were closed. Really good guy! The food was excellent. I had a "wet burrito" that was fantastic. Very tender chunks of beef, perfectly matched with a nice red sauce both inside and on top. She had the chimichangas dinner which was equally top notch. Refried beans were as legit as it comes. This place is an out of the way place nestled into a strip of shops. The atmosphere belies the quality and friendliness of the owner and staff. Two thumbs up! read more

Salsa was more like pizza sauce. It was very interesting. They do have hot sauces at the table but no homemade. Was hoping for a verde but they didn't have it. Portion sizes were decent. For a shrimp burrito and wife got a couple tacos. Flavor was ok but nothing to write home about. I also was confused by the price. They did tell me it would be an up charge for shrimp but the cost came to about $10 over what I added up from their menu prices. A burrito and taco meal for $32? Terrible, came here twice and that's it. I had the taco plate. It was supposed to come with a chili pepper, it never did. I ordered flour tortillas, they gave me corn. The meat had no flavor. Each taco literally had one piece of diced onion and one piece of cilantro. The salsa is more like tomato sauce. It's a disgrace to even call the stuff they give you salsa. I don't know where they got the refried beans from but it was the worst I ever had. I don't think they would even serve those beans in a prison cafeteria. They had the consistency and taste of plaster of paris. Another time I ordered the fajitas. They burnt the meat. They didn't even bother to chop up the meat, it was just one piece of burnt meat. I ordered the Vegetarian Burrito with rice & beans. The Burrito was so big and was stuffed with peppers, rice, Re fried beans, lettuce, and came with toppings on the side. I would've liked to see some black beans in there too, but I think I only saw refried on their menu. Made a carryout order from here for Taco Tuesday. I've driven past this place numerous times before and never noticed it because it's nestled in this plaza. My order included two 2 taco dinners (each with asada and pollo) and one order of a mega burrito with the appropriate side of sour cream, guacamole and pico. I have to say I am pleased. The tacos were on average larger than most Mexican style tacos I've had at similar establishments. The burrito was stuffed with beans and shredded beef with melted cheese on top. Next time I order it I will probably ask them to make it wet because I found it just a bit dry, as was the chicken taco. I also wasn't a fan of the refried beans as they lacked flavor and greatly benefited from the hot sauce that came with my order to give it that boost. Besides these minor gripes I found the meal to be satisfying overall, and the owners are very nice and welcoming. read more

I ordered a taco- Al Pastor, mega burrito and a "chunky" beef taco. The Al Pastor taco left a lot to be desired. There was plenty of seasoning, but it just wasn't that good. The "chunky" beef taco was actually pretty good. However. It was shredded beef, no chunks at all. The mega burrito was a massive let down. There was next to no flavor, just bland steak, flavorless rice and beans mixed together. Given that the burrito was the main meal my wife and I were splitting, it was a big let down. I will say their salsa tasted fresh and the hot was a perfect blend of fresh salsa with a good bite, not massively overpowering like other restaurants. Overall, nothing special but we went 1/3 for dishes we actually enjoyed. read more

I got a takeout and my order was ready very quickly and it was all correct. The place looked clean and nice. The food was mediocre. I got the wet burrito and I didn't really like it. The sauce on the outside was like water mixed with chili powder. It was stuffed only with beef that was like chunks of bland pot roast and lettuce. The lettuce got soggy immediately so it was like bland beef stew and soggy lettuce burrito. I also got the flautas with chicken and they were fine. The beans were bland. The rice was fine. read more
