Had an excellent experience, completely above & beyond from any hair salon I've gone. This salon stands out from any other, having a complete reiki and energetic experience. I sorely needed me time and was so depleted from a series of personal events. I feel my stylist picked up on it because she provided a therapeutic scalp massage & fell into a deeeeep sleep on the chair during the cut. I'm in love with the attention to detail, from the high quality herbal teas to the meditation corner to affirmation cards & crystal to pick from to set intentions on what to focus on, with a metaphor of letting go with the hair cut. I have been here twice and I'm about to make my third appointment. Sharla is amazing. The first time I went was because of a Groupon and she did exactly what I asked. I have dark hair and was trying to go blonde to be able to color it but after 3 sessions with my last stylist It wasn't what I wanted so I asked Sharla to make it all dark. She did an amazing job of cutting my hair and coloring it so I can get it healthy. The second time I can in she covered my grays and added red to my hair. I showed her a picture and she nailed it! She is the only stylist that I have been to that when I left I was happy because she was able to get my hair the same color as the picture. Her prices are very reasonable and I love that appointments can be scheduled online. read more

I came across this salon to get my hair done for my birthday and I was having a good experience with the people and vibe but, the hair was a whole different experience. I showed a picture of what I wanted which was a red hair color with hit of purple. They then had put just purple in my hair and didn't cover my roots at all. I payed a lot of money thinking I was gonna get that color. I did leave saying I loved it but, went home and hated and cried because it was nothing close to what I wanted. I was supposed to go back but I don't want to risk it anymore. So that being said they are not to good at color in my opinion and a lil expensive for not giving me what I wanted. read more

I was on the hunt for a new hair stylist after mine moved out of state. I tried another place 1st that didn't work out for me and so I went back on yelp and saw this place that does hair and energy work. I took my daughter in first and she did an amazing job on her hair and spent so much time with us. My daughter left feeling so good inside and out. During the pandemic, I let my hair grow. I transferred from having my hair dyed with conventional dye to using henna. If you've never used henna, it's a time-consuming experience: at least 8-10 hours to "cure" once mixed; depending on your hair length, at least another hour to apply; then it sits under layers of plastic wrap and a shower cap for at least 4 hours. It's messy and smells weird, prompting adding essential oils to the mix. It is not recommended to go back to conventional dye while henna is still present on hair. After several months of my roots growing out, I started looking for someone who knew about henna and could help me with going back to conventional dye. I looked at so many websites, but Shear Karma stood out from the rest. Sharla Fagan's philosophy mirrored my own: "A green salon with a holistic approach to beauty and balance." She's takes time with her customers, getting to know them, what they are aiming for, and carrying out their requests. She did wonders on my waist-length hair, and I felt great afterward, not only by my newly colored hair but by the atmosphere and care taken with me. The products used are amazing. My roots, as they grow out, are not nearly as startling as with other dyes and henna. They look more natural, and my hair doesn't fade nearly as quickly. I found this salon through coupon first and I called and made an appointment. She is very flexible with her appointments and I liked that a lot! In addition, she listens and give you great feedback to your wishes. After my balayage it came out a bit darker than we spoke about. I called her and she immediately offered to fix it. In the end, she took her time and really tried her best to fulfill my wishes with no extra costs! She is charming, lovely and just a honest and kind person! It was easy to talk to her and she made me feel comfortable. My end result was amazing! My hair came out great and made me feel pretty. She does a fantastic job and makes sure her customers are happy too. I'd been cutting and coloring my own hair for a while because I hadn't been thrilled with my last couple salon experiences but decided to give this one a shot. Sharla did an amazing job and was very friendly. The ambiance inside was also nice and relaxing. In the past, my blonde had ended up too warm and brassy but she listened to my concerns and the color turned out perfect. Located deep inside the Phenix suites, (sry I forget the actual ste# but they're in there!) Gabriella took care of me without nickel and diming or upselling and I love my new cut! Sharla was there working on her client as well and they are both as lovely and welcoming as the other reviewers have said. Definitely a couple of professionals with a lot of experience. Add extra points for the samples I left with, the head massage during my deep conditioning and for teaching me it's okay to go ahead and try new shampoo/conditioner products. I had my first-ever visit with Sharla, and upon entering this small, quaint, comfortable salon, she immediately made me feel calm, comfortable, and welcome. She took her time to explain the benefits of her salon, which includes being green, to the point that your hair is donated to help with oil spills in the oceans and rivers. Sharla took the time to understand my hair vision and gave kind, professional input in making my style come to life. Her calming presence was carried throughout my visit, and I left her chair with one of the best haircuts I've had in years. I truly felt like a rejuvenated person. After a couple of days of playing with my new style, I decided I wanted to just go a touch shorter and she accommodated my request without hesitation and got me in almost immediately. Sharla was so helpful in scheduling a time to accommodate my mom and I getting in for am appointment at the same time. My mom had a scalp and deep conditioning treatment followed by a cut with April, and I booked overall color, face framing bayalage highlights, and a cut. Both ladies took great care of us, but Sharla is , by far, the best stylist I've ever encountered. She was reassuring, listened and heard all of my concerns, and her calm, confident, and organized energy radiated, which is exactly what I needed going into a salon for the first time in years. I found this place through Groupon and it was a great deal with a cut and spilt end treatment. Sharla was awesome! She is very knowledgeable with hair product and salon experience. She was very pleasant to talk to and I really enjoyed how intimate her place was. There are only two chairs and its super small but it was perfect. She is a hard worker and my hair felt amazing after the cut and treatment! Her place is in a big building that houses other salons too, so don't get confused - she is in there!
