    What??????!!!

Wait ... don't be alarmed, this is not a still shot from the movie Swamp Thing. This is the Lobster Tank at Shaw's . We live in New England and Barrington is surrounded by water... why do we have to be subjected to this horror show? Thanks again Shaw's , you are keeping it really organic . Lol Please leave Barrington and let a real grocery move in.

A place for food It's a Shaw's supermarket, just like a lot of other Shaw's. Good selection, pretty good prices and reasonably clean. However this one is special. Why?? Because it's about half way thorough the East Bay Bike Path and easily seen right from the path. Why is this important? Because it's a great place to stop for something to drink or eat while you are biking. I have stopped here many times and have found all types of fruits, veggies and even sushi or great bakery items to pig out on. They have a little benches out in front to sit while you eat. However, what really makes makes this a great place to stop is that they have bathrooms. Clean crappers with soap, towels and plenty of hot water. So if you are every on the East Bay Bike Path look for this Shaw's. It's a great place for a little break.

Here's a $30 piece of brisket 1 day from it's sell by date starting to turn grey. The $3 off sure makes up for it though!

If you want a real treat, I love the Lucerne Strawberry or Vanilla yogurt--the big container. It is to die for. Try it.

My wife and I have been buying from Barrington Butchery since (literally) day one of business, and we've been evangelists for the best porkchops on the planet sold at BB. I call 'em "magic porkchops" because they're moisture-injected, and it matters not one bit if you get bone-in or boneless, these pork chops are without rival. Some salt, some pepper (and for me, some Tony Chachere's Cajun seasoning), put 'em on the grill on low heat -- internal temp is 145º - 150º, put it on a plate, and then let it rest for a good 5 minutes. I've had tears a joy rolling down my cheeks from these pork chops. There've been times when one week's chops are better than the previous week's but they still always, always, always beat every other chop I've ever had from any other source, hands down. Don't get me wrong, I've had all sorts of other wonderful things from BB, including the seasonal Piedmontese, lovely Filet Mignon, Tomahawk, Flank, and their homemade sausage. Never a disappointment.

This butchery doesn't disappoint ... it's family owned and operated, which is an important distinction for me. It continues to offer quality meats, poultry and accompaniments; is staffed by experienced butchers, a chef, a sous chef and all-in very welcoming people. 5-Star all the way!!!

We asked one of the guys working there if we could just bring two of the smaller packs to the register and get the deal. He said...sure, I think that would be no problem. Sure enough, when we were checking out, we asked the customer service rep if that was ok and she said sure, we can do that for you. Very friendly, very helpful and very customer focused. It was a pleasure doing business at this particular Stop and Shop.

She is just miserable all of the time. Zero interest in actually being there and heaven forbid you need her to fix errors caused by the unpleasant cashier (older, middle-aged woman) I experienced last night. I asked cashier a few questions and she was confused by every one of them. I greeted her with a hello and asked how she was. Her response: "do you have a stop and shop card?" She seemed overly nice and chatted (for quite a long time) with the two ladies who cashed out in front of me, going over how much they saved and everything. As soon as it was my turn, it was as if the cashier was a different person. Very interesting as to why I think that might have been. Same with the front end manager. I'm going to continue observing their behavior should I choose to shop here again. I usually go to another location further away to avoid this location if I'm shopping after dinner. Seems to be a bit of discrimination among sexes. Both interactions with the cashier and front end supervisor (hopefully not manager) left me not even wanting to spend money there. I understand it is a busy time of year but when the attitude of employees changes based on the certain things about the customer, you have to ask yourself why that is. Hopefully these two are just in the wrong field of work and it isn't clearly what it appears to be. Just an awful experience that I'm still thinking about, almost 24 hours later.

Recently there were multiple cans of condensed milk with an August 2025 expiration date that I found while shopping in November 2025. I also bought flowers one day and was charged a donation fee for absolutely no reason for a charity that the store was helping out through a special promotion (this was explained to me by a clerk when I complained about the extra charge). There was no signage advertising this at all. Can you imagine being conned into supporting their charity? Luckily, I always choose self-checkout and try to match prices with the amount being rung up. Just tonight I was charged $3.50 or 2 for $7.00, for plants that had a sign stating $2.50 or 2 for $5.00. I also had a small tub of prepared fruit with a sticker that said $3.12 but was charged $3.84. I went over my receipt when I got home and found the overcharge. I also hate their stupid robot. It's intrusive as well as annoying. Clements on Hope Street has better customer service and some items are even cheaper than Stop and Shop. I wish there was a Shaw's grocery store closer than Barrington or Middletown.
