We ordered food to go yesterday and it was delicious. We ordered the vegetarian biryani, a gyro, and a piece of pistachio baklava. The vegetarian biryani was very flavorful and really well spiced. It's served with a large piece of fried eggplant on top. We would definitely order this again, as well as the fried eggplant appetizer in the future. The pita around the gyro meat was homemade and outstanding! We would also order this again. The pistachio baklava was a generous portion for the price. It was flakey and flavorful. I went with a friend on a Wednesday evening, and it was very quiet. The one server was very attentive and the food was excellent. I started with a garden salad and my friend hand lentil soup with meat balls. The salad was huge and fresh, and my friend said his lentil soup was as good as he'd had in Cairo. For dinner I had a lamb shish kabab and my friend got lamb biryani. The lamb in in my kebab was nicely flavored and the accompanying grilled vegetables and rice with carrots and peas were excellent. After dinner had had a middle-eastern style coffee (I asked for a Turkish coffee and was cheerfully corrected that it was an Arabic coffee) without sugar, which was great, not at all bitter. read more

Came back here for dinner after two years. They have a new dine in area attached to the original small store. Got the combination platter with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouleh and tzatziki. Everything tasted really good, including the pickles. Got the kufta skewer, which is a good amount of food by itself. Also got the chicken shish kebab platter and the gyro sandwich. The chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. Sandwich was good, a ton of gyro meat in there. Overall very good experience. They serve wine and beer too. read more

The food was SO good! My family ordered take out. Their online order service went smoothly. The portions were satisfying. The fava bean appetizer was so good and was served on flavor soaked pita. The baba ganoush was outta this world delicious! The falafel were crispy and flavorful! I could eat a whole bowl of the pickled vegetables that came as a garnish. The beef gyro plate was seasoned well, moist, and melted in your mouth. The dolmas were warm and had tasty spices mixed with the rice. Lastly they served very thin pita bread, which I love because I toasted them the next day with some sunflower oil and salt and they made tasty pita chips. Had a restaurant.com $25 certificate...they did not honor it and said don't know how people even get it...he says it has happened before and they played stupid not knowing where it comes from...I explained to the owner but obviously he has done nothing based on it has been going one prior to us...classic bait and switch...an honorable owner would have honored it and then research how to stop it. The food was awful. Got the steak and I could not even chew it...laden with fat and tough as leather...brought it home to the dog who barely ate it. My family LOVED their falafel dinner from Prince Ali's. The patio and the decor inside are very inviting, I think we'll definitely try to dine in in the future. The hummus is excellent - far better than anything you find in a grocery store. The falafel platter was a nice size for us to share. We also enjoyed a Greek salad and a falafel sandwich. Absolutely love this place. I had not been in a number of years and it is now primarily a restaurant with just a few items to purchase by the cash register. Online ordering is quick and convenient. Food is absolutely phenomenal. Best gyro I've ever had. Other items I've ordered are the hummus, pita, fried eggplant plate, and chicken kebab wrap. We ordered the gyro dinner (very generous serving, well proportioned meat to veggie ratio), baba ganoush (creamy, well seasoned), tzatziki plate (refreshing), and the wheat bulgar kubaa plate. I was most impressed by the small touches that bring the meal from typical to outstanding- a drizzle of olive oil and extra sumac and spices on top, a perfectly proportioned sauce ratio for the gyro, and excellent presentation for a takeout order. Went back 5 days later and got the beef biryani which was to die for. Tender beef chunks on perfectly seasoned veggie rice, I couldn't stop eating it, it was just too good. I called to get some take out. I appreciate it's a family business but I get a stumbled sound and silence and a "hello?" I almost asked is your mom or dad there bc the child on the other end sounds extremely young. I ask if it's the restaurant in barrington and get a "yes". That's it. Lol. I say I want to order a to go- I'm explaining something important and the child and the phone goes muffled and a conversation begins between the child and another person. Then I hear some muffled "hellos" but they are barely audible so I'm assuming they aren't for me. I finally say hi, and he or she says something back and I'm thinking - gosh the kid sounds lovely however am I going to get my complex order translated correctly from an 8 yr old to the chef?
