We needed some Pecorino Romano cheese for a new recipe so I paid a visit to Pecorino Wine and Cheese shop in Grafton. The proprietor and I had a pleasant conversation about everything you ever wanted to know about the cheese. Some of what she told me was the manufacturer, it's age, where it was made, how to wrap the cheese to preserve it and where to keep it. I honestly believe she has forgotten more about cheese than I will ever know. I was offered a sample of the Pecorino Romano as well as an awesome DOP Parmigiano Reggiano. I wish I had the time to taste more of her wares. Luckily they offer wine and cheese tasting periodically. In fact we plan to to attend this Fridays tasting. Be sure to check their website for the various events and be sure to note the hours of operation. I didn't have time to investigate further but I'll update this review when I can. Crap! How have I not reviewed one of the only high end cheese shops in Central Mass?? I've been popping in here seasonally for years. Like many others that love Pecorino, I stumbled upon the place while getting pizza next door. My order wasn't quite ready so I wandered in here. I'm willing to bet they get a 80% of their business this way! its like stepping into a dream pantry with all the preserved condiments, beers, crackers, breads, cookies, cooking and dipping oils, vinegars and a lot more if you take your time in here. The wine room is so captivating I seriously had to run out of it to avoid dropping my life savings on California whites! Love the cheese so much that I had left my wallet at home, paid for pizza and had about $11 in change - and The staff there helped me buy just enough manchego (2 different kinds) to fit my pocket change ( came out to $10.45!) and had a lovely addition to my evening glass of chardonnay. It is not really a location you'd expect a cheese shop but if you do happen to use the grafton Commuter rail stop, its a 1 min ride down the road...If you had a rough day and only wine and cheese will cure it.. this may be a necessary stop before you head home! read more

During these trying times - Pecorino has made it so easy to shop. You put in an order 24 hours in advance. On the day you pick up you call them and they bring it to a table on the porch for you to pick up when you get there in your car. All paid via credit card. I picked up this Sourdough bread I love "Nashoba Brook Bakery" and their French loaf, some eggs, Pecorino's awesome cheese and their great PEPPADEWS Stuffed with herbed cream cheese. Staff are really knowledgeable & friendly and they have a great selection. I asked about some really unique cheese I had on a trip recently. Simone knew everything I mentioned, and while they didn't carry exactly I was looking for, she pointed me in some great directions. The cheeses were mostly European with some artisan US farms. They can get pricey, and sell for about $10-$40/pound. Some cheese can be cut individually and some are pre-wrapped. The wines I saw were almost all France & Italy. Wine prices ranged $10-$125 per bottle, with an average of maybe $35. The only downside of this place is you can't go on a tight budget, but you won't find a lot of this stuff anywhere near by. read more

My roommate and I love this little shop! We stop by weekly to get our favorite cheese and sopressata, and whatever else we need in the cheese department for our groceries. They offer a pretty wide selection of cheeses and other gourmet products - some local and some imported. The shop owner is an absolute delight - extremely knowledgeable about what she is selling and how to pair it with other cheese or food. We love her! Pecorino also gets a delivery of fresh bread every other day, with their biggest delivery on Saturday. Two big thumbs up! read more

YES I WILL drive into this off the beaten path, REALLY OFF THE BEATEN PATH location. It is GORGEOUS for starters, and they carry the wines I want to drink! Assisted by Lorenzo Savona, this Panzano expat has recreated the magic of panzano and made it her tastefully (all puns intended) own. There is a cheese shop coming to Hudson, and I will support local. But I will still haul it to Wellesley to Wasik, and a bit closer, Pecorino has become an immediate favorite! Perfect cheese selection, good pricing, beautiful finds, and an assortment of wines that rivals any upscaled and local folk alike establishment. My fiancee and I needed to do a bit of cheese shopping for our wedding. We headed out to do our errands for the day, with plans on stopping by Pecorino at the end, as she had heard that the cheeses there were wonderful. At the barber shop (part of the day's errands), the barber and I were striking up conversation about the upcoming wedding, and the subject of the cheese came up. I told him that was going to Pecorino. Even my barber commended me on the choice. Once there, I was astounded at the knowledge the proprietor has regarding varieties of cheeses. She was able to recommend many types of cheese that would compliment the wedding theme and food dishes, and my fiancee and I were able to taste samples. I must admit, I know monterey jack about cheese, but my fiancee does, and even she was impressed with the staff's knowledge. The prices are a little on the higher side, but this isn't Velveeta you're dealing with. This is the real deal - the best of local cheese and European cheese. With a little help from Pecorino, I am now happily married. read more

Pretty excellent new cheese shop here in Grafton. The space is smaller then I expected, but the space they do have, they have used well. All kinds of cheese and other items that you can think of. I'm talking real cheese like Manchego, Roaring 40's Blue, and goat cheese from Crystal Brook in Sterling. Really happy this place has opened and I think it will do well. They also do tastings and the owner was more then willing to offer me tastings in store, while I was there. Like the other reviewer said, the owner is really nice, and seems quite knowledgeable. All I can say is WOW! And, where did those pictures come from? They are of the Pizza place but none of the actual cheese shop. The woman who works here is ever so helpful and extremely knowledgable about what she is selling. I mean that you cannot stump her on a question which is amazing! I don't know how she does it. I would love to recommend cheeses that I have tried but it would be much easier to tell the few names I haven't tried. The amazing fresh aroma as you walk in will leave your wallet empty when you leave. Don't let the name fool you either. This is a warm and inviting shop knowledgeable, friendly down to earth staff who are a pleasure to speak with and very helpful. They carry many local products as well as some great imported cheeses. You won't get service and quality like this at any supermarket cheese case! The prices were very reasonable for the quality products they carry. I felt like I was living in a culinary desert before Pecorino opened. Their organic olive oil from California rivals any from elsewhere in the world. My whole family is addicted to it and would never consider using anything else. Their balsamic vinegar is also to die for! These are both so good in fact that I drive right past my own town's oil and vinegar shop to go to Pecorino's. Then there's the wine. Simone has curated an amazing collection of wines for every palate. I've been exclusively buying my wine for her for years and have never once had a bottle that wasn't something special. Plus the price points are always reasonable or even attractive. I also love it that you can tell her exactly what you don't like for flavors and she will steer you clear. But the best part of the whole offering is the cheese. OMG the cheese! Seriously folks - you've never had cheese like this before. When the pandemic hit and I reconciled myself to the thought of hard core quarantining I resolved that I could get through because Pecorino is open for pick up. Just drove out to this place today on a beautiful fall day. Great selection of cheese, bread, and wine. Is there anything better in life than good cheese, bread and wine? I think not. Also a good selection of artisanal honey, olive oil and pasta and you have the makings of a great place to stop on a lazy day.
