If you're looking for a quick fix shawarma this place will do the trick. That said, I wasn't hit with an overabundance of flavor, everything (except for the garlic) had a plain taste. (My wife has mentioned five times now that "there wasn't any eggplant") We both got bowls, the rice wasn't what we expected, basically was yellow rice (not being the rice expert, that's what it tasted like). We opened the place up at 1100, starving on Father's Day this was our second option as "First Watch" was packed and we weren't waiting an hour to eat. I wasn't thrilled that the food was luke-warm, which tells me it was most likely re-heated from the previous day. In summation, there are better options in Tidewater but if you're in Chesapeake, perhaps shopping at Sam's Club, this place will satisfy the hunger monster. read more

Shawarma Shack - Lamb&Beef Shawarma - Mediterranean Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

I've had this restaurant on my radar since they first opened. I'm so glad I was able to come today. I walked in and immediately I was welcomed. I asked for more time since I'm a newbie and he started explaining the menu to me. I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl with rice. I added tomatoes, pickled onions, lettuce, turkish salad, parsley, feta, tzatziki, garlic sauce, and pickled red cabbage. I also ordered a skewer of steak shawarma for my son. I also ordered an order of chocolate baklava and one of their special drinks Hot Salgam. It's a spicy fermented carrot and turnip drink. I ordered all this to go so it wasn't for another 20 minutes or so til I was able to have my first taste in the comfort of my couch. OMG. Amazing! The chicken was very flavorful. The rice was perfectly cooked and melded well with the toppings and sauces. I can't wait to come back and try their skewer platters with sides. Great job Shawarma Shack! You've got a fan here!! read more

We (my family and I) have eaten here several times! There is a reason we keep coming back. The quality and freshness of the food has been consistently fantastic. I am a fan of the bowls. They recently expanded their menu and added kabobs and pizza and other items. So today instead of getting my bowl, I got the chicken kabobs. I am glad I did!! They are tender and flavorful and delicious. The presentation was beautiful. I wish I had taken a pic at the restaurant but mothers day no phones at the table rule . The pic is of the leftovers . Huge portion! My middle son also tried the chicken Donner wrap instead of a bowl. He said it was amazing and also full of flavor. We always have leftovers you are full but you don't feel heavy. Oh and the avacado feta!!!!! It's amazing try it. We will keep coming back next time we are going to try a couple of pizzas read more

Shawarma Shack - Left over chicken kabobs w hummus and tazaki (sp) sauce and sumac onions! - Mediterranean Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

Recently tried this place and was pleasantly surprised. The Adani (Lamb) and Lamb Shish was so tender and flavorful! The Babaganoush and Mutebbel were great as well. Everything is freshly made and presented well. The portions are VERY generous, so bring your appetite! Staff is super friendly and eager to see and serve their customers. We dined in and enjoyed a relaxed meal over some ambient classical music. All the locals seem to love this place as much as we do. Regular return is a must! read more

Nope. Sorry guys but this is not what shawarma's are supposed to be. My wife and I had high hopes going in there the first time but sadly it isn't what it says it is. We have been all over the Middle East and Mediterranean eating shawarma's for decades, in restaurants and street side vendors. I'm sure you're getting good reviews from the not knowing general American public but once you have had anything remotely correct you'll know why I made this review. Do better please. Yes, we took a few bites and threw the rest in the trash. read more

This is a new Shawarma place that just opened in Chesapeake! Walked in and the staff was really nice and helpful. They gave us lots of info on how they make the authentic lamb, beef, and chicken. I ordered the chicken shawarma, beef pita, falafel, and baklava. The food was not flavorful, it was plain. There was no wow factor. I've had amazing Shawarma before, and this just wasn't giving that ' yum' factor. The best part of the meal was the baklava squares. The inside was clean, there are a tables to sit and eat. The vibe is more of a takeout then sit and eat. Parking is plentiful. I want to give this place another chance due to the nice staff and the fact that it's brand new. read more

Shawarma Shack - Baklava - Mediterranean Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

My go-to spot for Turkish fare! Having spent some time abroad in that part of the world, I can often get nostalgic for that Mediterranean / Middle Eastern fusion cuisine that Turkish offers. You can't go wrong with Shawarma Shack. All the meats are perfectly marinated and seasoned. There's a wide assortment of delectable sauces. And OMG, the falafel are next level. If for nothing more, drop what you're doing right now and go get the falafel, ...now! I'll wait... ...see, I told you so! Another loyal Shawarma Shack customer in the bag. They really owe me a tee shirt or something. Of course I'm just kidding. I do this foodie stuff for fun and to share what I learn with others. That's rewarding enough for me... read more

Wonderful food. Fresh and flavors just right. We came due to good reviews and agree! Friendly bunch of guys running the counter. Unassuming / spartan place. (And a bit chilly to eat in during cold weather). All the additions to bowls/ wraps or salads are very fresh. Try the clear fruit soda too. Prices are reasonable and you can do door dash too. We now eat here at least once a month! Both beef/lamb and chicken of good quality, and they have falafel too. good desserts too. read more

I would give this place a 4. It's worth trying, but I've had better Shawarma in Hampton Roads. You'll be satisfied with the flavors and textures of what you order, but you're not going to be blown away. Check it out if you live near by. I wouldn't say with worth traveling for though. They're new, also, so maybe they'll be a bit better once they're fulling established. Overall, good food. Everything was tasty and exactly what you'd expect. Best shawarma in Chesapeake, you could say. read more

The amazing smell coming from Shawarma Shack brought us inside for lunch. I have never been greeted with such enthusiasm and kindness. Upon first inspection the place is spotless. I mean see your reflection in the floor spotless. You are able to see the kitchen from the front of the restaurant and it was also VERY clean. Not a utensil out of place. I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma bowl and a side of falafel. You can choose your base of a side of rice or mixed greens for the bowls and the wraps. I chose mixed greens and it was the perfect accompaniment for the toppings which are full of flavor. I had hummus, some hot sauce (Turkish style), chopped tomatoes and onions, tzatziki sauce and feta cheese for my toppings. Paired with the freshly roasted meat and a special Turkish orange soda I was in heaven. Go for the food, stay for the hospitality. There is ample parking here. You won't be sorry. I always try to find my favorite local restaurant every time I'm at a new duty station. Shawarma Shack is my favorite in the Virginia Beach area. The Lamb & Beef Shawarma is AMAZING! The portions are a good size; well worth the price. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean but could use a coat of paint here and there. My go to order is a lamb and beef pita with hummus, tomato, lettuce, feta cheese, pickled cherry peppers, white sauce, and tahini sauce. And then the chocolate baklavas are delicious! read more

I've came to this place several times over the last year. I typically do negative reviews because Good food and great customer service should come standard y opinion). That said, this place has yet to disappoint! Since the first time I tried this place, the staff is phenomenal, courteous and very informative. It's obvious they are passionate about what they do and it shows in the quality of food, portion, and genuine desire to share their cuisine with the world. Give this place a try and you won't be disappointed! *Caveat: you might get hooked to this place so try it at your own...benefit! Delicious Turkish food great prices friendly people & great service food was a 10 /10 . I did a happy dance after eating it hit the spot !

I got a wrap and some baklava from Schwarma Shack yesterday. I've eaten here multiple times now and have to say it's the best in the area. Everything tastes super fresh and has tons of flavor. The owner and his sons are from Turkey and are super nice. I've tried the wrap and pita before but the wrap is super beefy and makes a great snack for later if you don't eat the whole thing. $16 for the wrap is fair considering how much food is given plus the quality. The baklava was delicious! (A little pricey for two pieces, but I'd still recommend it). Even though I live in VB, I will always drive to Chesapeake to go just because it's the best I've had read more

So I was here 7/31/2024and ordered the chicken kabob platter and a filet mignon platter. The sides were cacik, baba ganoush and Turkish salad. All I can say was the food is delicious. So tasty and full of flavor. The filet mignon kabobs were tender and juicy. Chicken kabob was not dry but tasty. Service was slow as they cook it after you order but hey, if you want it done right, perfection takes time. Nothing fancy about the place though don't let looks deceive you. Behind the counter is whee the cooking magic happens. I Definitely found our kabob spot and craving station for middle eastern food. We will come back again for sure. Be sure to check them out as you won't be disappointed. read more

The owner was so kind and is clearly so passionate about his Turkish culture and the food they make! We had a great time chatting with him throughout our ordering process. He made great recommendations and explained how they make their food, Turkish terminology, etc. The food was top notch- absolutely incredible. I got the chicken pita and my husband got a a lamb and beef wrap. Generous portions, incredible sauces and toppings, and they even gifted us with some baklava since it was our first time. We will be returning for sure!! read more

Nice little restaurant, gentleman who took order was friendly, helpful and offered recommendations. Ordered the shawarma and it was fantastic, very flavorful. Plenty of seating as well. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely return. read more

Definitely a wonderful little family-owned spot in Chesapeake. The guys behind the counter were very friendly and the food was ready on time! Very fresh ingredients and soooo yummy! My only qualm is that for $13 you don't get enough meat. You have to double the meat (which is an extra $3 for lamb) and that doesn't include any sides. So for $13, you're getting a fairly small pita. I'd come here again because the shawarma is very good, just disappointed you have to pay extra for what should already be the normal size pita. read more

I've been to a few different restaurants, but this is probably the best shawarma I've had so far in the Hampton Roads area. They also serve bowls that you can customize to your liking. Lowering the price a bit is all I would change, either way I'm coming back for more! read more

Wow....American kid, now old, who grew up in Turkey and a few other Middle Eastern Countries. Dream of vertical spits almost daily since the middle 70's. This place had me in tears. Hands down the best Schwarma and Doner I've had in the United States. The bread is divine. Portions are huge. There is an unmistakable careful selection of fresh veggies and an equally superb rice. Even the red onions had some sumac sprinkled on, and that's just another small touch that reminded me of my spiritual home. Downing an orange Uludag soda summoned a wave of nostalgia. Meal was both sweet and bittersweet, and pure poetry for the palate. Of course, the staff was brilliant and friendly, they endured my tortured and weak Turkish, & sent me off with a gift of possibly the finest baklava I have ever experienced. Am truly floored. read more
