Great lunch spot! It kind of reminds me of Cava but better falafel. They seem to have very similar options to Cava, such as tzatziki and hummus toppings. They also have a vermicelli rice combo which to me tastes so much better than the regular rice you'd usually get. The place itself is small; it's definitely a place you order and go back and eat at your office or perhaps a nearby park. They have maybe 3 barstools for customers. Price range is around 10 bucks just for the bowl, but it's a decent amount of food. read more

I wasn't expecting much as I looked outside of my office window for months, waiting for this place to open. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. After trying the meat and chicken shawarma, I will probably stick with the meat. Shawarma District is a little cheaper than similar restaurants. It also offers some delicious toppings like stuffed grape leaves and labneh that you won't get at mezeh/cava/roti. There are only a few places to sit, so expect to carry out during the lunch hour. I'm glad that Yelp took care of the many fake positive reviews that popped up in the first two days of Shawarma District's opening. This is not quite a 5-star spot, but I'll be back. read more

Just ordered a chicken wrap to go and wow was it amazing! There's a variety of toppings that you can fill up your wrap or bowl with. I've had shawarmas all over the Nova area but this takes the prize as being the best. Fast and easy to order! Plus, their staff and service are definitely 10/10. Really good beef shawarma at this place. The beef here is definitely really good quality for shawarma. It wasn't roasting on that spit fire thing but it was still really good. Maybe it was a little too late for that. The difference here is there are a lot more toppings to choose from. Definitely get the garlic paste :))) "tomaya" as we call it in the old country :) . This is a horrible insult to Lebanese/Levantine cuisine. This is McDonalds shawarma but worse. The portions are small. The quality very poor. The taste is not authentic. Nothing properly reflects authentic shawarma at this place. They should be sued by the United Arab League for using the word "shawarma" to describe their restaurant. Palestinians should lead an intifada against this place, Lebanese should call their Southern Resistance fighters to pull the plug on this place. It is an absurd excuse for shawarma. Shame shame. Don't eat here if you're like me and hate "build your own" meals. I asked the person at the counter to build the chicken shawarma wrap however they like, and they became obviously distressed. The wrap turned out pretty gross. It tasted like a cheap salmon burrito. It was 95% chicken. Maybe that's what the person likes, so I can't blame him. Like others, I waited a while for this place to open. I've been three times now in the past two weeks trying out different combinations of their rice bowls and they are phenomenal. Great taste and the takeaway price for every meal has been around $10-$11, which is slightly below average for lunch in the area. I've never had to wait in line for more than 3 minutes, and the service has been great. read more

You can't go wrong with Shawarma District. Since I am originally from the region, I have high standards when it comes to shawarma and other Middle Eastern food. Shawarma District is one of the few places you find that gets as close to the taste you would find in the Middle East as possible. I've tried all of the sandwiches and they are all great. My favorites are the chicken shawarma, falafel, and cauliflower. The spices remind me a lot of the flavors I find in the Middle East and it makes me feel like I'm back there. The appetizers are also very good. I haven't tried the bowls yet though. I have also done catering for sandwiches from Shawarma District, and the experience was great. For DC, the prices are very reasonable. I definitely recommend their food. read more

Delicious food here. It's close to my work, so I can see being a regular. In two visits I've tried kafta/falafel and chicken/falafel salads. The salad mix is fresh and flavorful--includes radishes, parsley, and a little bit of grain. The proteins are great. Falafel is my favorite here, both crispy and fluffy. The kafta are tender and come in a flavorful tomato sauce. Great topping and sauce choices, especially the baba ghanoush, pickled turnips, and sumac onions. Staff and service are efficient. Sone minor critiques. Grape leaves were a little mushy, so maybe not worth the upcharge. If you're really into fresh pita, its worth noting that they don't make theirs in house. It is nice, chewy, and thin, however. Looking forward to returning. read more

THEY'RE OPEN! I've been walking by the storefront for what seems months. I finally made it there for lunch today and glad I did. The salad was fresh, crisp and a delicious mix of veggies. I couldn't decide between cauliflower or falafel so I had both. They were delicious. The falafel was crispy outside with a warm center and seasoned perfectly--well, I would have enjoyed it a little spicier but that's me. The hummus was yummy. The pita is not great but the shawarma is way better than Little Sesame or Naf Naf. Great veggies and other add ons too -- except for the rice which was clumpy. Kind of a Cava/Chipotle theme where you make your own bowl or pita but it's a little odd with the mix of flavors and sauces they have. And my biggest complaint is they don't give you much shawarma! Wow! This place hit the spot! It will be my new lunch hangout a few times per week now. The options for sandwiches and bowls included chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, falafel, and my favorite cauliflower! I had the cauliflower sandwich today in a tightly wrapped and nicely toasted pita bread and added tahini sauce, pickled turnips, pickled onions, light garlic sauce, and baba ganoush. I've been waiting for this place to open for awhile; I walked past the location every day as it was being constructed. Agree with the other reviewers, it has wonderful food at a fair price. I had the rice bowl with chicken shawarma, next time I'll try the falafel. They make up the bowls (or sandwiches) as you order, so you get the ingredients you want. They don't skimp, either -- the portions are definitely enough to satisfy without overwhelming you and well worth the price. Everything is freshly made and tastes like it. As another reviewer said they have a few bar stools at a counter, but this really isn't an "eat in" place. Don't get scared off if the line is long, it moves quickly but the customer doesn't feel rushed. Definitely would recommend and definitely will go back. read more
