Was in the area to try something new and settled for Avenue Shawarma. Walked in and could instantly smell the bbq! Opted to try kofta and shish tawook Saj sandwich and was satisfied. It was flavourful and fresh. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. The service was quick and staff was friendly!

Amazing fresh shawarma, taste is authentic and service is excellent. Highly recommend it.

I got the thinner wrap while they got the thicker one. Both tasted pretty much the same, although the thicker wrap had a little more chew. I got mine with the works, but I don't think the pomegranate sauce was included because I couldn't taste it. I ordered extra on the side and really enjoyed it. It adds a nice twist to the garlic sauce. I also recommend asking for extra crispy if you like more crunch in your shawarma. I think I'd skip the coleslaw next time as it felt like a little too much with everything else. The boys kept theirs simple with chicken and fries and both said it was the best shawarma they'd had, so they were definitely impressed. This location was extremely busy when I visited. There are two sides with separate entrances, one for the dining area and another for counter service. I was on the counter service side, and finding a table was definitely a challenge with people waiting for seats to open up. Overall, solid shawarma and I can see why it's getting so much attention.

It was Saturday noon. Free parking outside the building.

Then they closed up shop and turned into a catering service and more recently reopened their restaurant elsewhere. The new location is tiny. Decor is nice. Service needs work. Some servers have limited knowledge of their menu. Others are more on top of things and that was appreciated. Dishes don't allow for substitutions. For example, ordered shish tawouk (chicken skewers) with fries and received a boatload of fries and a minimal amount of chicken. I found it strange lol.. the fries were good but the cost of the plate makes no sense. There were maybe 6-7 pieces of chicken on the plate. At least they were tasty.. I made sure to request them moist. It would be ideal to pair protein with carbs and another side.. like a small salad.. just to counter the amount of carbs consumed. I ordered muttabal on the side and with it came two piping hot pita breads. They give you toum (garlic sauce) and pickles as well. The company I had dinner with each ordered specific dishes, like stuffed intestines (my facial expressions spoke for themselves, haha) and Sayadiyeh (a fish dish) where they fry their fish atop of a bed of rice. The latter differs from what I'm used to but the portions are huge for both dishes. The stuffed intestines were a delicacy for the person eating them and they seemed to enjoy their food. Another individual ordered minced meat skewers, recieved two of them and a TON of rice. Would return to try other dishes. Since I was invited for a meal, didn't want to cost the host too much. I was tempted to order their appetizer plate and a couple of other items.. so next time, for sure.

We were then brought two menus, and asked to choose our items. I had settled on the kabab wrap, while my mother chose the beef and lamb wrap. While we were waiting for our meals to arrive, we were offered a bowl of lentil soup, which was complimentary. We enjoyed how delicious the soup was, and that it was free. After we had eaten the lentil soup, we were given a large piece of complimentary pita bread, which we had eaten on its own. We were then waiting patiently for our wraps, which arrived about ten minutes after finishing the pita bread. However, my wrap had arrived with onions in it, which I had asked not to be included. I had told the waitress, whom quickly brought it back to be fixed. I then received the correct wrap about five minutes later however, it didn't have any sauce on it. The waitress then brought the sauce in a small container, which I was able to put on my wrap on my own. The wraps were delicious, with an abundance of meat and vegetables to fill it up. We also loved the dipping sauces that accompanied the wraps. However, the waitress seemed a bit confused when we had asked certain questions, as the restaurant had people coming in and out at all times. Overall, I would certainly return to this restaurant, as the food was well-made and appetizing.

Their complimentary lentil soup when dining in is also so delicious, I inhale the bowl as soon as it hits my table every time. Service is also very friendly. The way I usually order is: beef/lamb shawarma wrapped in tandoor bread with garlic sauce (toum), extra lettuce, tomato, onions, and parsley, with no pickles or tamarind sauce. I've had that same order except wrapped in saj bread but the tandoor one is so much better (and they actually bake it fresh to order unlike saj which comes out of a bag). Portion is massive for only $14, it's the size of my forearm and I can literally make two meals out of it as long as it's loaded with veggies. 4 stars because of two things: on my first visit I was trying to compare their kebab samoon with my regular spot Kababko, and I thought their bread was too dense + not enough meat for my liking so I will continue to go to Kababko when I want a samoon sandwich. Second thing I'm not a huge fan of is how cramped their seating is, but I guess I can't be too peeved since the place is pretty small. Overall I'll continue coming here STRICTLY for shawarma. I prefer ordering takeout at this place but the free lentil soup for dine in is quite tempting lol.

I had never tried Egyptian food before, but I was feeling a little adventurous. I'm really glad I did. A few dishes were recommended, but I was told the Koshari is beloved in Egypt, so that's what I ordered. Be prepared for a bit of a carb coma, but it's absolutely worth it. It was delicious. The mix of pasta, rice, lentils, chickpeas, and crispy fried onions worked surprisingly well together, especially with the sauces they give you. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Toronto.

I had two friends with me who have lived in middle east and know their sheesha, they said their sheeshas are really high quality (even though it was the cheapest around). We also ordered Fries, Mango shake and a brownie, wasn't really expecting it to be good but just something to eat. However, Fries were AMAZING (with best garlic sauce), Mango shake looked really fancy and tasted pretty good and brownie wasn't bad either. The service, while a little on the slow side, was caring. Some things that were a little off: Place was very busy on a saturday night so environment got a little cramped. Lack of women customers, there was no other table other than ours which had a female presence. However, there was a female server, and at no point did we feel uncomfortable or encountered any creepy activity. So while there weren't a lot of a women, i think it's still safe for women to go there.

Once you enter, you feel the warmth and being transported to another culture due to its dynamic decor. We sat beside two green plants which was nice. The service was alright. But I felt that it's awkward when they don't offer the simple complimentary water. The lentil soup came hot and it warmed my soul. It was delicious. I could have another bowl. The fattoush salad had a nice light sour vinaigrette which was pleasantly a surprise. The bowl is hard pita bread that one can eat. The beef manakeesh was a disappointment as the dough was not chewy at all. Once it got cold, the dough got mushy. The presentation could have been improved. My partner had the tikka beef cubes and he enjoyed it but found it a bit plain. He commented that there was too much onions, and not enough beef to his liking. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly, and my eyes were probably bigger than my stomach on this evening, since I wanted to order half the menu for our party of four, but we eventually narrowed it down to the Mixed Appetizer Plate, Fattoush Salad, Beef Manakish, Traditional Dolma Platter, Falafel Platter, and the Family Plate. Also ordered a Lemon Mint Juice at the recommendation of staff. (Great recommendation, btw!) Wow, is all I need to say. The food and drink came quickly and we scrambled to find room for all of the plates that were showing up out of the kitchen; very large plates filled to the edges with delicious looking food. Digging in, I was impressed at how well cooked and seasoned all of the dishes were. I almost stole the entire M'Tabbal (part of the Mixed Appetizer Plate!) for myself, I think I ate extra portions of the Kabab Tawa without asking, and I found myself wanting to keep eating even though my stomach had raised the white flag. That Family Plate was also far larger than we had expected, and so we had plenty to take home. Overall, one of my favourite meals that I've had in recent memory, and I'm already itching to go back. Thank you so much, Shako Mako!
