The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Trying to disconnect a service that never really did work, took two phone calls and an hour and a half of very unhelpful people (please stop threatening me with the cost of everything- quite happy to pay whatever price it takes to get consistent service ) The good news ... The solution to your customer service issues is real simple. Terminate the employment of all of your service people and put the financial people in charge; everything went wrong with Shaw except the billing. They sure have figured out how to grab money out of our bank account, the second it is due. You should put those guys in charge of everything at Shaw. Worst service ever. They have ZERO customer service. I waited on the phone for over an hour on several occasions (only to hang up b/c my kids were around). Today, I spent over 2.5 hours waiting on hold. I was literally on old for a live chat simultaneously. The live chat option was unhelpful... Once I got through to a phone agent, she put me through to loyalty to discuss the fact that my billing had increased by $80 in a year. Instead of offering a solution, she told me the only way to decrease the bill was to cancel a service (internet, tv or phone). So after almost four hours of waiting and talking, my phone service was removed to bring down my bill by $20. And this was loyalty's only option. I found my entire experience with Shaw very stressful. To put aside so many hours to reach customer service is unacceptable. I would never recommend Shaw to anyone. They don't offer a callback option?? Ridiculous. I called Telus and got through to an agent within 5 minutes. That's called customer service. read more

I would never use Shaw cable again in a post apocalyptic earth and they were the last providers available. Signed up for the 600mps services. Never got more than 200mps. Spent time on their live chat with a "technician" never had the problem fixed. No follow up phone call after doing a power cycle on the modem. They got my email address wrong and I thought they had set up the automatic billing. Apparently they hadn't and my account went unpaid for four months, all they while their reminder emails were going to someone else. Finally they call me only to tell me I had 48 hrs and they were going to cancel the service. Worst customer service possible. They only reason why Canadians don't have better ISP's is due to the fact that we have no competition. Otherwise Shaw would have gone under a decade ago. In the past week I have had my internet cut off close to 15 times and every time I call and tech support tells me its a 1 time problem on their end. I was with shaw cable for 2 years and just renew for another 2 and on a contract says that if I'm moving to new location they will move my services with me. Time to move to new please and I called shaw to do that... they told me they dont have services in location I'm moving and can't move my cable there. Well... fine I will try some one who will.. but shaw will charge me for cancelation fee 300$ and I was on a phone explaining that I'm not canceling just moving. And they can't do nothing about it. So my experience for 2 years was good but now I think its absolutely ridiculous to charge me money for something they can't provide. I purchased BlueCurve 600 internet with Shaw, I'm lucking if I have 200 download but being charged for 600. I have gone around and around with tech support over the phone doing much trouble shotting fixes. Nothing has worked and getting them to send a tech out to look at the line has been challenging at best. Finally, someone is coming out in a week. This is the worse customer service I have received. If I could give minus stars I would. Our strata has bulk fiber. This means Shaw says they don't have to give us service because we are a bulk account. Over a week ago they showed up and brought us the latest and greatest hardware. Too bad it turned out to be the wrong hardware for bulk fiber so this morning when they did maintenance it cut us off. And too bad they say. We may come out today or some other arbitrary time to fix our mistake. If I treated people that way with my work I should be fired. And what's worse, because we are bulk fiber this has been going on almost a year. And here's the funny pArt. I make my living online so I am missing work. I have voip so can't get calls. And when I ask them about a credit I'm told they can only credit the strata. read more

I am writing this review to raise awareness about a sneaky tactic being used by Shaw. I cancelled my account with Shaw. Part of the cancellation process is sending back the shaw box, cord, and remote. Shaw charged my credit card $300 and the payment does not get removed until the items are received. (This is all fair) Here's the problem, Shaw doesn't refund the money until I phone them to inform them that they have received the package. So here's the thing, if I do not phone them then I still get charged $300 even though I sent all the items back. So Shaw needs me to inform them that they have received the package that they are fully expecting and I don't get my money back until I do so. I was told that it gets shipped to some warehouse in Calgary so it takes time for them to get the confirmation that the packaged has been received. You'd think the moment the package gets to them and they scan the barcode their systems would immediately know that the package has been received. Is their system that archaic that they don't have these capabilities? Highly unlikely. This is a neat little trick to hold on to their former clients money without them even knowing. Basic line up , is so stripped down , it feels like A pair of Rabbit Ears are mandatory. Is it worth spending more.? Just to Attain a few extra channels, when realistically, the should normally Be included . Bogus contracts , inept call center, an afternoon wasted Arguing with a glorified robo telemarketer. I wanted a bill sent to my Address . They promised 10 working days . That was 8 weeks ago. You loose power , wifi never realiable , computers are fragile short Lived . Outdated equipment, outdated business model they thrive on the oligopoly that's held within Canada, their modems are old dated artifacts and they think their customers are uneducated, service outages are rampant and hardly know what's going on, the prices keep increasing and the service gets worse, they keep downsizing front line staff and they only want to phase out more such as techs in favor of self install, go figure charge customers more to do Shaw's job. Absolutely horrible service. Do not use this company. I moved and asked to move my service with them. I was told no problem, if it wasn't available at my new home they're system would tell them so right away and they wouldn't be able to put a request in. As that didn't happen, they put a request in and I was told that I would have my services in a few days. That few days later comes and I call back and I am told that they cannot provide service and I will be charged $350 for a cancellation fee. They told me I had to go in with that individual to change it to my name. Made me spend over an hour waiting for a response only to be told to waste more time to visit a store?! Set my internet and cable to be turned on on the 6th.Got here nothing, I called and they said can't do anything until the 12th. I told them that was not exceptable since they said it was good to go when I moved in. I pushed to get them here on Sunday or on Monday between 7 am and 2 pm the guy said he would try.I still had to give him a date so I said the 12th between 1pm and 3. Knowing I could not be here and I had no faith that they would show up Sunday or Monday, I went out and bought new cable and fixed it myself because since I couldn't be there on the 12th then to fit an appointment in on my schedule it would be weeks. On BILLING and CONTACT US: I have been a Shaw customer for many years. In the past few days, I spent over THREE HOURS trying to make contact to clear up problems with wildly excessive billing totals. Shaw blames problems with "billing cycles" but they provide no online service where I can look up current details on my account. If I kept records, would probable total DAYS WAITING for phones to be answered and chats to respond. Summary: terrible billing systems and terrible customer contact service. read more

Called Shaw because I had no VOD service. Left a call back number. It took over an hour for a call back though they said 20 minutes. When Shaw finally called I was put on hold for 30 minutes. The rep could not help me and transferred me to technical dept where I was on hold for 40 minutes. The technical rep tried to help me but could not. Each rep. told me I did not have tv service and I do. They seemed to not believe me. I am on bulk service and it would have been in their records. I told them I was bulk too, but that I wanted VOD and they said I was blocked by my building manager. I affirmed that I was not and that I might need a new account as I did at my last bulk residence. They told me they could not help. I said they could add it on to a new account for me then. They told me I was out of luck and could not help. I asked to talk to someone else. They put me on hold for 20 minutes. I talked to the supervisor and they told me I was blocked my my management in my building. I reassured that the building manager could not possibly have that kind of power over Shaw and if they did then I would not need Shaw as a service which would make me a happy camper because I was losing it by this time. I talked to another rep again as I was sure I can get it because I had it before on bulk. No this rep then tells me that I am asking him to do something illegal and that he would lose his job. He also questioned whether I was really a Shaw customer. I gave up. I vented on Facebook in which everyone said to use chat. A robot answers and tells you they will get a rep for you. No one answered. I then asked my son who used to work at Shaw to help. He was laughed at by the rep and then accused of trying to impersonate me. He was only trying to speak on behalf with technical terms he knows from working there. I then remembered my ex neighbour had a number of a Shaw rep in Winnipeg who had cancelled my account from my last bulk residence. I called his number and left a message. He got right back to me. I told him my problem and he fixed it right away. I have a locked box and I was set up with a new account. Something I had asked for in the beginning but was accused I was going to jeopardize the rep's job. I had also questioned my box as it was an old outdated box and I had a newer one at my last residence. Aaron in Winnipeg saved me but 5 hours later. Now I have to wait another 5 days to get another box. I could just drive over and get one but do I dare? I have my doubts about this company. I don't trust them. Oh and then Aaron tells me I have to wait another 48 hours for the VOD service to come into effect. What? I am typing all this in case others have these problems. I asked Aaron to do a feedback report to other reps to inform them of the information. He told me they didn't know because sometimes there are just problems and they don't know. What? Of course he has to defend his colleagues. But, come on Shaw! Why is this one rep so competent and needing to defend several incompetent reps? Better training or back up supervisors who actually know how products and services work? Shaw you are deplorable in customer service. read more

I am nonplussed. My Shaw bundle bill was $202 dollars a month, and Telus reached out to me with a post Family Day offer for $85 dollars a month for a 2 year contract for cable, telephone and internet. Wanting to be faithful to Shaw, I asked them if they could compete with that offer. The Shaw rep said if I trimmed my TV package down, they could lower my bill to $122 per month, if I committed to another 2 year contract. I thought that was reasonable, so I turned down the offer from Telus. Just got my new Shaw bill. $325. They can really do this! They take it directly out of my Visa. I contacted Shaw online customer service with my issue 3 days ago. No response. So much for my attempt at customer faithfulness. Be very aware people! read more

Barely a month after disconnection, during COVID, shaw took my account to collections because i had not returned the equipment!! we had been in quarantine for weeks and shaw's office was closed, according to Shaw, i should have called them to find out how to return the equipment!! Wow, do they understand what lock down is??? Well, i returned the equipment when the lock down was lifted and i keep getting calls from the collection agency. They are rude and relentless. I have just gotten off the phone with a Shaw representative and cancelled, the seal of the deal for a cancellation of services was Christy Clark appointed on the board of directors. She has sold out British Columbia during her term, and now I advise all to boycott Shaw and cancel your sub-par services for Telus. Shaw provides well below average internet services. I live in a fairly populated area where there is a dedicated fiber optics line, and I am constantly experiencing outages mid-day, late afternoon, and lately a constantly slow experience around the hours of 12am-4am PST. I would highly recommend Telus internet instead, I was with them for almost 10 years before I took the poor advice of a family member and switched over to Shaw. The last year with Shaw has been a moderate/severe headache with the internet issues. Also, the speed is CONSTANTLY varying. There is absolutely 0 set connectivity speed as it jumps between 20mbs to 50mbs. I believe I pay for 100 mbs but have never once even been close. I have a high end modem , that I am plugged directly into. If your using the internet for gaming, work, or any other function that requires quick download and upload speeds, Shaw will disappoint you. Even YouTube videos are constantly flashing the " Are you experiencing interruptions? " message. I never once had any slow connectivity with Telus, the odd issue would arise where i'd have to call in and have them re-set my modem, but 9/10 a hard reset performed manually by myself did the trick, and I religiously received 120mbs+ which is over 3x faster than the average Shaw puts on the table PLUS i'm paying MORE for Shaw without a TV/PHONE packaged bundle. Shaw is a rip-off, and you just watch at how far it will snowball downhill with Christy sitting on the BOD. Also the disgusting lack of compassion and cut-throat contract elimination for the mass employee layoff is outright unethical. Holding your " laid off " employees at ransom is a Clark tactic at it's finest. Shame on Shaw. If you are a true Canadian, switch to Telus. read more

I have rented a new apartment and I think what I'm paying monthly for internet is a little expensive, so I was trying to get something cheaper. The Lady asked: how can I help you? I said: I think what I'm paying is a little expensive and I'm wondering if there's anything cheaper. She said: No there is nothing cheaper. Spotty internet connectivity in New Westminster, BC. Shaw's expectation is that customers troubleshoot problems with their technology for up to 2 hours before sending a service technician. My expectation is that in return for taking my money, Shaw provide internet connectivity that works - simple. The customer service is HORRENDOUS, I've been using Shaw for over ten years and these past years it has been declining. I really hope this company goes bankrupt. Management needs to reevaluate their entire system. I got used to being put on hold, and now I'm just used to it until your customer service decided to hang up on me. I've always tried to be gentle to them over the phone and in person, but nope they still give you s*** service. These guys don't have enough support on foot or over phone and its been like this for over a year now. I've had to deal with this crappy ass service for the past 6 months... Shaw does not prioritize businesses, I've had to hold off with no debit/credit machine for a few days, until I fixed it MYSELF. A Shaw personnel then showed up two weeks later asking if the godam router has been fixed.. TWO WEEKS LATER. Thats enough to shut a business down. And a month later, I'm again in the same situation with this useless company. This is definitely not a company worthy of having anybodies money. I am and have been a Shaw customer for decades. Generally customer service has been okay in the past, but right now it is not and my experience leads me to believe they are using off shore personnel. I was referred to customer renewal to reduce my bill as I have a promotion expiring. The service has been non existent as I have no idea of the status of my account and although a representative assured me I would receive a call back on two different occasions, nobody has called me. On another note, I am now receiving mail at my home address for a Shaw customer who I have no idea who they are! read more

I only wish I could rate 0 stars. The customer service is just so abysmal at Shaw. After being a customer of Novus for years, Shaw sold me on one of their "promo" offers. It was a headache from day 1. They never, not once, applied the proper promo code to my bill. So every three months (my billing cycle) I would get a bill hundreds of dollars more than the promo amount and I would need to spend an hour on the phone clearing it up (and usually, reconnecting my service). The headache was worth the savings but come year 2, I signed up for a new "promo". It took nearly 10 weeks to get a Shaw technician to come to install the phone line...however, during that 10 weeks, they decided to charge me nearly 5x the agreed amount because "we haven't installed the phone yet so we can't apply the promo code". Fine, stupid but OK. When I asked if they will properly adjust the amount after, they said "No". Apparently, it's not only the customers responsibility to do Shaw's promo code accounting, but we also are responsible for their technicians inability to schedule appointments. Hours of go nowhere phone conversations and hold times followed. I dropped Shaw, went back to Novus and have been happy ever since (faster internet speeds and no bandwidth caps!). Shaw tried to send the matter to collections, so I had to contact Commissioner for Complaints for Telecommunications Services, open a file and get them to tell Shaw to take a hike. Watch your bill very closely if you use Shaw. read more

Don't let any of their tech's enter your house to use the washroom, I was kind enough to let one come inside after repairing my internet connection and he left urine ALL over the floor, It took me majority of the morning scrubbing down the floor and the wall! It's as if the guy found humour in messing up my home, if these guys need to do work have them do it outside because believe me there's nothing more disgusting. read more

Where do they find their technical support employees? The guy who 'helped' me had no phone manners whatsoever, and no understanding of customer service. I've been living with a dead zone in my apartment for a while now. The first time I called, they talked me through some way to possibly fix the problem. I tried to call back several times, but never had 40 minutes to spare to be on hold, so I've always had to hang up. Shaw had the audacity to tell me that that's the way the world works. No, it's not. I absolutely despise Shaw, Telus all the way. They charge for every little thing they do, its $30 to move (hydro only costs 15$ and Telus this is free), $30 to change the name on the account, I can only imagine what else they tack that on to and you wait about 3 hours on hold or for a call back each time you want to do anything. Their internet service is very slow and over charged. Anyone but Shaw is better... BC needs to get some more competition so that consumers have choices when it comes to their internet provider.
