I regret the second I decided I would go with Shaw's trial offer of improving our services and upgrading to Blue Sky. We immediately did not like the new set up and changed back in less that 24 hours, having been told it was risk free and we could return to how things were. This was a false statement.
For starters, we ended up going with out TV for half a week because when they switched us over, they did not leave our old set up in place just in case. When we finally did get everything working, they tried to charge us $600 for our old equipment, equipment we bought from them a couple years ago so we end up with a HUGE bill. We had to have a couple of different technicians come to our house to tell us that which I already knew, that everything was hooked up as it should have been and that the problem is in the back end.
This was all back in the summer. So now it is Election night for the municipalities in British Columbia and I am eager to see the results on TV. I go to turn on to watch the local news stations... and nothing. I don't have those stations any more! Up to this point, I had not need to watch channels like BC1 or CBC New World. When I turned on to watch these stations, I got a black screen telling me I am not subscribed to these.
Off to customer support I go, and I wait.. and I wait, and I wait. Eventually, having tweeting about having to wait, I got approached by tech support and opened up a DM conversion via twitter. I told them my situation, and they told me there was not much they could do for me. If I want those station back I either have to give up one of my packages, or pay $7 per month for ONE of those news stations.
Needless to say, I am absolutely livid at this point. I was told there was nothing that could be done because I was on such an old package deal, they could not reinstate what I had before. Want to know WHY I have such an old package deal? BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER SINCE YOU FIRST CAME TO BC! I have been a LONG TERM customer and you are treating me like this! I was offered a ONE TIME free shot of having those stations back for SIX months. Not good enough. Why should I have to pay more for a deception made by SHAW?!
As I said, we have been with Shaw since they first came to British Columbia and took over from Rogers. We have upgraded to both Phone and Internet as well and tonight, I am SERIOUSLY considering going over to Telus, not that they are much better, but I am just so mad right now that this is how I am being treated. I was LIED to when I was told I could have a free trial and if I was not satisfied, it would go back to they way it was. Between being charged extra for equipment we already owned, having to go with out service for a few days because they could not figure out how to undo their own installations, how the customer service line is ALWAYS so back logged you are lucky to speak to someone with in an hour of calling, and the occasional quality drop, its a wonder more people are not complaining.
Right now, the ONLY reason I have not dropped Shaw like a bad penny is because my elderly mother loves her TV and currently can find all her stations with out having to ask me to change the channel for her, which was the main reason we said NO to Blue Sky. My mother is old and likes being able to turn on the TV and knowing she can put it to channel 30 at 7pm to watch M*A*S*H. However, this patience I am showing on her behave is rapidly running out.
So no, I will not be accepting any other offers from Shaw ever again. If they call offering me one, I am going to rant about this and tell them to leave me alone.
With TV dying out, you would think providers would be doing more to help customers want to stay with them. read more
