Cool, fun atmosphere. For appetizers - ordered the chips and salsa with black beans. Salsa was very fresh and the beans were tasty. Also had the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer for the table - pretty bland, but there's not much you can do with shrimp cocktail. I ordered the fish and chips with fries and slaw. My food was delicious and perfectly cooked. My daughter-in-law had sautéed shrimp, and I apologize I don't know the sauce they were in, but the shrimp wasn't cleaned very well. A little gritty. The service was lacking, drinks were refilled and it wasn't busy in the restaurant. Those are the reasons I didn't give it 5 stars - my food was great, fish and chips yummy and again, it was a cute atmosphere. Food was very bland. Fried oysters were soggy. Sautéed onions on the crab cakes were flavorless. Clam chowder was mostly potatoes and celery; not good. Definitely didn't like the flies constantly bothering us. Staff was nice. read more

We were there at 8:15 on a Friday. We waited about 20 min for a table. Then we're lead through a door to the other side which to our surprise was half full at most with several empty tables. Lighting was so dark we joked about needing a flashlight to see the menu. Waitress was nowhere to be seen. We sat and sat. After 15 minutes a server brought water. My young kids were hungry. Another 15 minutes passed and still no waitress to take our order. Other patrons looked generally glum, some eating, some waiting. Several of us were making eye contact. Finally as we stood up to walk out, a nearby patron came over to tell us it took 45 minutes for their food to come AFTER it was finally ordered. We hustled out. The decor and ambience was poor. The food on other tables looked like nothing special. From decades of experience, it can be hard to get a good meal on the Oregon coast. But this was a new low. We just stopped at Shark Bites on our way through town and had a fabulous experience! Great service and atmosphere. We were shocked to see how affordable the drinks were! Husband liked the seafood platter but the Baja tacos were slightly better than VanDeKamps. Tons of cabbage little fish. Two cocktail and 2 glasses of wine plus the two meals was $75 and change. We stopped by for a quick bite before heading out of town on Saturday after Thanksgiving. Despite coming at the end of a lunch rush, service was fairly quick. You can enter the restaurant through the surf shop or on the other side of the restaurant. This caused a little confusion, I think, for the host, who had parties on both sides of the restaurant to seat. It did take a while to be seated once he acknowledged us. But aside from this small issue, service was attentive and friendly. Our waitress was kind and charming and made efforts to accommodate our requests, even though we paid our bill & tip right when we got our food. (we were in a hurry) The halibut tacos were excellent and our picky kids ate every bite of their clam chowder. The decor was fun and the atmosphere lively. I would definitely return again. read more

A cousin recommended this place, for which I am forever indebted to her. The fish (halibut) tacos are STELLAR, glad I decided on three although that made for a hearty meal. The decor is 'way cool, a very down-home vibe. It was good to see the place busy, nearly full on a Thursday evening, and once again, those fish tacos were (italics) transcendently delicious (close italics)! Yum! The crab cakes made with Dungeness crab were some of the best we've ever had. I got the halibut burger (sandwich) and it was delicious! A fresh bun and lettuce and tomatoes with house made tartar sauce combined beautifully.... and definitely spring the $2 to upgrade fries to onion rings. The beer batter was so light - they're the best rings we've ever had. The pink shrimp melt and the Mex fish tacos we're great also. Service was attentive and friendly too. I love this place! Its beachy laid back decor, great wait staff and great service. I would highly recommend the Halibut Fish Tacos! They serve them with chips, warm black beans and salsa that is amazing! This place is great for kids and adults. Pricing is average - in line with the times. I have never had a bad experience here. At lunch time though, it fills up fast, so getting a table can be a challenge sometimes - which is NEVER a bad thing at a restaurant! read more

For a Wednesday, this place was packed. We started with the clam chowder. We knew going in that it was thin, but the flavor was amazing. I had the seafood platter which included cod, halibut, clam strips, shrimp, oysters and a crab cake. It was so good, I ate way more than I should have (enough for two). My husband devoured his spicy chipotle burger and fries. He commented that he would take a bottle of the chipotle sauce. Staff was VERY friendly and gals- restrooms were clean. Great chicken strips - kid approved! Mex Tacos had a good depth of flavor in the mesquite smoked fish. Clam chowder was flavorful and well balanced, not too creamy. Root beer floats served in Ball jars with un-poured root beer served in the bottle was great do-it-yourself for the kids. Ambience and decor is dark, Spartan and unpretentious in the late afternoon. Food was pretty good. Clam chowder, although not a strong flavor was tasty. Thinly sliced potatoes, thin cream soup with tiny bits of clam. Not your typical chunky clam chowder. The ceasar salad was great. Not peopery like some places make it. The shrimp in garlic sauce, was actually a little bland, but shrimp was juicy and decent size. The fish (halibut) and chips was a great portion size and delicious. We will probably get take out next time. It was a real long wait. And the kids didnt like the fries. read more

We enjoyed a late dinner in this cute spot. The lighting was particularly interesting: hand-blown glass balls, each with a single bulb inside, hanging from the ceiling. We had fish and chips that looked photo-worthy! They were fried just right and moist and tender inside. Also had the tacos made with local shrimp, accompanied by a nice chipotle sauce and fresh avocado slices. I didn't realize these were tiny shrimp, but they were delicious! read more
