Tried this place out based on reviews. Working in area and had lunch here. Service was great. Ordered fish n chips (cod) with chowder. Fish was excellent. Fresh hot and crunchy batter. Delicious! Chowder was really soupy/runny like which I'm not a fan of. It's like it was missing potatoes too. Tasty but needs way more potatoe chunks and a bit thicker. I'm spoiled with Seattle chowder I guess. Fries are good. Light flaky salt on them and look fresh made, no frozen. I bit wet and limp though.. couldn't finish them. I will be back for sure! read more

First off, any restaurant and bar that shares space with a surf shop I'm down. Had fairly low expectations of this place hoping to get some fish and chips. Mistake, it blew my expectations away ! Great service from what felt like a team of people trying to elevate the experience. Multiple staff checking, fast food times, nice beverage selection. I was looking for fried food and got fresh hot cod and fries ( real house cut potatoes) beer batter was good. My son & I had lunch there on 10/10/24. Two items cost $50.00 with a tip. We only had water to drink. I had the fish & chips at $ 20.40 & he had a Halibut Burger at $20.40, his with substituted onion rings for an additional $4.00. They gave him like 6 onion rings. Both meals came with a soggy & stale cup of coleslaw, which was tiny. My chips were plentiful but just way over done, like burnt and all of it was so very greasy. With 3 small pieces of fish. The waiter came once to refill our waters, just once. Just an amazingly crummy lunch for a Benjamin ($50.00) These must be a decent place to have lunch in Coos Bay, without breaking the bank, and this is not it. read more

I know this is a popular restaurant, so ready to give it a go. $13.45/bowl + 3.00 for kaiser bun garlic bread. First I want to say, everyone has a different idea what a chowder should be. I can go thick or thin...I just want flavor, and I don't feel that I received that. I know enough about cooking, that I felt their batch of chowder was put together last minute. Stopped by for a late lunch last month. No busy when we were there but the service was on point and the food and beer were great. I Like trying onion rings when I can so these were on the menu and they were delicious. They are beer battered and with honey mustard they are the best I've ever had. They make their sauces house made. My hubby had the halibut tacos these were also great nice size and fresh and I ordered the halibut burger delicious and my husband loved that also lol . TERRIBLE! Service is horrid the server spilled water on my sweet grandbaby and only offered a couple napkins to clean her off. At one point we ordered food and she rolled her eyes at us! She was so rude! At one point she handed us a hot plate and didn't even tell us! My dearest grandbaby boy burned his poor hand on the hot plate she gave us! And on top of that the food was terrible! By the time it hit the table it might have well still been moving! It was so RAW! My sweet grandbaby girl ordered fish n chips and they were practically jumping off the table because of how raw and undercooked the fish was! The fries were not fried AT ALL it was basically like biting out of a raw potato covered head to toe in salt! IT WAS SO COLD my poor baby's were shivering! The food is just okay, chowder has lots of clams but wasn't my favorite, crab cakes were very pricey for the size and mostly ended up with fries basket, didn't find their slaw to be much to write home about either. This place is really odd you walk in they have a tiny souvenir area you walk through, place your order at the counter, then the girl walks you to a room and says grab a seat.. ahh ok this is weird, and yes like others have said once your food arrives that's it you want something else you better be quick because nobody is checking in to see how it is or do you need anything else. I suggest that its time to take a close look at...and taste-test some of your food items. Clam chowder had minced clams in it. Pieces were so tiny I couldn't taste any clams. Chowder was overly thick and VERY bland. Fish tacos had tiny pieces of fish in it and a lot more greens in it than fish. Bland as well. Taco dish came with a half a bag of taco chips and a tiny plastic container of chunky...and bland...salsa. Why not bring a small bowl of real mexican-style salsa to the table? read more

Thanks to Yelp, we picked this local spot for a late lunch. Even though it was 2pm, this place had a steady flow of customers. We decided on the Seafood platter to share. It came with a nice variety of food. Popcorn shrimp, fried oysters, Tempura shrimp, fried calamari strips, fried halibut & 1 crabcake. The platter came with fries & coleslaw. I think the chicken was better than the burger due to its size and flavor fullness They also served crater lake vodka which is super yummy and crisp. This was my third time here (See my other review) I always have to have the clam chowder and still believe it's the best I've ever tasted. Someone once suggested their shrimp nachos which I thought sounded disgusting. I had to order them just to see if they were as disgusting as they sounded. They actually tasted great!! Over all, this restaurant was what I would consider just okay. The service was excellent, so no complaints there. As for the ambiance, it was okay, it had an odd little shop in the back of the restaurant. The food was tasty, but way over priced. $14.50 for an average sized bowl of clam chowder, with very little clam in it seemed a bit much. If you wanted bread with it, they charged you another $3.00. So we opted for the oyster crackers which were free. I don't believe I will be going back. read more
