Managers do nothing but run you in circles if you leave anything with a security guard to "put in the safe". Long story short, boyfriend and I went to the Tiki bar downstairs for NYE. On check before getting in, security noticed my boyfriend had a knife in his pocket that he had forgotten to take out before we left the house. Security said it was ok for him to hand them the knife (shame I neglected to get his name) and they'd give it back at the end of the night. End of the night comes and the security guards are nowhere to be seen, door people at Shannon's directed us to the door people at the club around the corner who got super aggravated when my boyfriend asked about the knife. Shannon's managers told us to come back the next day to talk to someone. We came back and they told us t he same thing, come back another day. I talked to Richard (who I understand is the manager of at least Shannon's and The Carvery) who said he'd give me a call if anything came up. It's been almost a month now and I haven't received a follow up. Managers are never there at the times they say, no one knows anyone else's schedule. One person says the manager (namely Richard) is there starting from 6:30pm on a Friday, another manager (Bryan, I believe) says he's there from 10:45am to 2:00pm. This business is extremely disorganized, they give you false information, and they don't answer social media messages if you try and contact them about things like this. read more

The food was down right amazing the wait was alittle long but probably because they had a problem with the system. Once we got our food I had a chicken sandwich, and Mexican corn for an appetizer my partner had the chicken finger which were also beyond amazing compared to most other places with fryers. They told us they're fries would be perfect we didn't believe them until we got the fries and the chicken strip they were both perfectly crunchy and not over fried I was very Impressed with the food for it just being a bar. The bartenders and service overall was the worst. I ordered fries and after 30 minutes of waiting I go up and ask if the fries are ready and they asked if I received it and I said no and the bartender says well it's a full house so they must not be ready. I then ask for a refund, they reluctantly give it to me but then the bartenders start talking amongst themselves about we need to get out just because it was taking over 30 minutes for fries! Out of all the bars in Belmont Shores, I like this one the most. It's more chill than the rest. The line usually gets long around 11pm, FYI. Most of the time you won't be able to pay your way in, unless you personally know the bouncer. Its tiny but its good for a few drinks and hanging out. They have a jukebox for music so that can be a good thing and a bad thing. I like to listen to hip hop songs when I drink but sometimes the song choices by others can be a little confusing, so you just gotta chance it. read more

I'm leaving this rating to a 1 because I bought and signed for two drink for 17 dollars. Come to check my bank statement to see I was charged 25 dollars. When I call for the pub and directory says to press 1 for the pub and soon after asked me to chose again "1" and says invalid response. Buyers beware and save recipes. This divebar definitely didn't disappoint me. The atmosphere is pretty welcoming and they have very spatious dining areas. The servers are pretty attentive and friendly and brought out our food around 10-15 min. What we ordered: Pastrami chili fries - Literally heaven in every bite, I love the amount of cheese to meat ratio they put on it. Price is 8$ Chili Corn- it was alright, I thought it would be similar to elotes but I was wrong. 7$ I think. Some stuff are a bit pricey and not enough portions but they have a super wide variety of beer for a good price so that's a plus. Great place! read more

I love this bar because they do it the right way. Fun times good bartenders and great prices.

I found myself at Shannon's one night while out in downtown Long Beach with friends. We were quite a big crowd and so we occupied quite a big section of the downstairs. With quite a bunch, I had to give props to the lady bartender who kept up with everyone orders. Their margaritas tend to be a bit on the strong but have no fear because they have good food to pair up with the drinks. I got to try the nachos here and they were loaded with ingredients. They were very fulfilling! My friends also ordered some french fries and onion rings. The onion rings were a true winner and my favorite for that night. They were big, crispy rings with a nice, sweet batter. I enjoyed eating all these appetizers while hanging out with friends and watching the hockey game that night. It's not a bad place to hang out for sure. I do have to write a small spiel about the restrooms (haha since a lot of yelpers seem to be writing about the toilets =O). Yes, the restrooms are definitely a little weird with only one. One toilet for ladies and one for men at a dive bar will definitely get you one long line several times at night. Walked in for someone to tell us we were too intoxicated to go in. First and foremost Shannon's is a dive bar. I been here B4 where several drinks spilled on me because of intoxicated patrons .I feel like I wasn't admitted because I was black. The bouncer says he is Mexican but I told him there is big difference!... I was the only person denied entrance. Everyone was let in no matter how intoxicated they were. Last time I've been here was a couple weeks back, and in the morning. That being said I didn't really catch the night life vibe. That being said I did talk to the manager who was on shift (white male *didn't catch his name*) and he explained to me how it is down in downtown. Horrible place. They lost my credit card. Took them 20 mins to find my credit card. Up to this point it seemed like an honest mistake and I left a good cash tip. Then I was told to leave and the bouncer grabbed me. I was not even allowed to say goodbye to my friends who were wondering where I was. I text them and we left. *****UPDATE***** DO NOT LEAVE YOUR ITEMS IN THE "SAFE ROOM" My son went last Saturday with a group of friends to Shannon's up stairs, and was told by the bouncer he could not wear his brand new Dodger's hat inside. That's fine...The bouncer then suggested he leave the hat in the "safe room", which my son did. Another party also left an item in the room. When it was time to go my son went to collect his hat and it wasn't there! It was stolen & the bouncer was like whatever! So here we are almost a week later, after calling EVERY day, with no resolution. As of today OLGA spoke to my son and said she will try to get to the bottom of it & try to get some compensation. We'll see...... ***** after alot of phone calls etc....my son was reimbursed fully for his hat! I guess they were having some internal problems with staff etc. which is the reason it took so long for top management to even get notified of the problem. They were very apologetic! read more

This place has by far the best boneless wings that I have ever had. They come in nice long strips that are tender, juicy and absolutely delicious. The sauce that they put on them has just the right amount of spice. Not too spicy and not too mild. Perfect! This place also has several great beers on tap and many tv's showing all the different sports. They also have some smokin hot bartenders. So I went to Shannon's last night, spent quite a few hours there drinking and watching the fight. No complaints there, as a bar goes It's your standard bar, and the staff was really great. The problem I ran into was with the food, I got some wings and fries, nothing too crazy, but after getting a couple wings in I felt like they seemed a little under cooked so I just chucked them and didn't think more about it. Sadly those wings didn't give me the chance to forget about them as I've spent the last 8 hours violently throwing up and sweating my face off on the bathroom floor. Waffle chili cheese fries, pineapple juice & 6 1/2 hours of straight football!! These are the three reasons why I'm the duke of this little Downtown LB dive bar. Don't get me wrong, I do occasionally pop in here for a drink on Friday and Saturday nights but during football season you'll find my best friend and I here every Sunday, watching every single NFL game on their many flat screen HD TVs. Thank god for Direct TV and NFL Sunday Ticket. Now, in all honesty, there is nothing flashy or fancy about Shannon's. It's a total dive bar but what I love about it is it's filled with LB locals, many of whom are my neighbors (I actually live in the complex directly above this bar). The fact that it's filled with locals is astounding because most Downtown LB bars and restaurants are usually cluttered with tourists or people in town on business. You won't find many of those pests at Shannon's. They also have a cheap late night happy hour food menu, which is awesome. Now, I'm not claiming its gourmet food but after a few drinks, even dog food tastes delicious. Trust me; I speak form experience (JK). Quick shout out to my favorite bartender, Cody. He always lets me choose what games I want on the tube in the section I'm sitting at. I enjoy this place and have nothing bad to say about the food and atmosphere but I was extremely unfortunate to have a terrible experience in which is lengthy but I was very disappointed and I just had to. I'm so embarrassed and I hate being a negative Nancy But this bartender "Shannon" took the prize for the most uneducated, unhappy and bitter person for no reason. To start off I got there early to ensure a seat by the bar and sit comfortably to watch my game a male bartender who was super nice and welcoming helped me out at first but I guess his shift had ended therefore Shannon took over. Shannon noticed that my three friends have been finished with their glass beers and asked if we would like another in which I replied yes, now she had said would you guys like another glass pitchers to either take advantage of the fact that we really weren't paying attention since our game was getting interesting therefore I said yes that's fine but assumed that she would just give us another glass of beer because clear that's what we were consuming. Little did I realize she comes back and brings the three pitchers of beer and I had kindly told her "oh I'm sorry I thought you meant another glass" she then gives me the dirtiest look and with attitude in front of my friends said "well I asked you and your over here knotting your head yes" I was so shocked at the pettiness she came in with and response that I received when I'm being nothing but polite and not raising my voice because to me I'm thinking it was a misunderstanding and lack of communication. But I simply took her petty comment and tried to not have her ruin my time with my friends. Therefore I told her that's fine go ahead and charge my card either way we were planning to continue drinking so why not it is what it is and I'll just take it. She then pours our glasses and states " I'll go ahead and place them in the cooler until your read for your next one" so I agreed and signed my tab. That alone left me with a bad taste and will never forget her and her lack of costumer service. We then finish our drinks and she comes back thinking I wouldn't remember and she asks us if we would like another drink mind you she goes to my friend who is sitting the farthest from me thinking I wouldn't hear her offering another drink, therefore I tell her without being rude or showing any kind of disrespectful tone "oh I paid for another two pitchers" she then gives me that same look of discuss and tries to school me and make me look like a fool stating " no you didn't and we don't even have coolers here" I was so shocked and the fact that she lied was so irritating but shame on Shannon . So then I decided to stand up for myself and without causing a scene mind you I kept my composure and showed her that just because I'm a customer at the bar I in fact do have some education unlike her trashy attitude which fit her appearance. I told her"I asked for a refill on my glass beer and maybe it might of not understood you but you have me attitude and were being rude" she quickly backlashes because she did not expect me to say anything or remember and she then states and points at me with attitude " no your being rude and you can go" I was so embarrassed and disappointed in how poorly this woman acts upon the simplest situation which could have been avoided but she knew she was doing wrong by being sneaky and not communicating right with the consumers. So you know what I hope management which I calmly spoke to and the security who was very nice and escorted me after not even causing a scene look at the cameras and "talk to Shannon" as management said they would but we all know how that goes. And a word of advice to Shannon I hope you realize that we are all human and just have some kindness in your heart and learn how to be friendly and remember your in costumer service not the military and that I believe in karma and you should be grateful for having a job that's willing to tolerate a terrible employee like you because with my experience I'm pretty sure there's others who have much more to say. read more

.., I love this spot, it's been a good time every time we come here. I've yet to grab a drink at the other bars here on pine but I fancy this pub & I fancy the drinks here. Decent prices with a juke box, pool table & a shuffle board table, I can spend hours here. Wasn't here before they renovated it but the new Shannon's has a pretty good size for a pub or a dive and the crowd is usually pretty chill along w/ their sexy bartenders. There's an outdoor section if you want to smoke a cig & it's still part of the bar so u can drink and check out what's going on outside on Pine Ave. Played shuffle board w/ my buddy Daniel against some chaps from England named Nigel & Martin the other night & that was pretty funny.
