I really enjoyed the food of this place, I've been coming here for a while since 2007, unfortunately the quality of the food is not the same anymore. I ordered chicken low main, chicken teriyaki, kung pow chicken, spring rolls, egg soup and an order of Wontons the filling of the wontons was extremely salty, spring rolls had a very smooshed texture, egg soup was cold with a really thick consistency, chicken teriyaki can tell it was old or chicken that had been left out for a period of time with a hard outer texture, chicken low main was cold and noddles were smooshy, the kung pow chicken was the only thing that seemed fresh. Good portion size. Everything was flavorful, not salty or greasy, if you let the rice soak up the kung pao sauce it has a good kick to it. The hot and sour soup has a hearty amount of tofu and egg in it. The kung pao shrimp came with what I thought was too much celery. Damn, I hate it when I think I might have found a new place to eat, only to be disappointed. I got the shrimp fried rice again and it was good. I got a small order of sweet and sour chicken and it was good. I decided to try their sweet and sour shrimp since the chicken version is so good. That's where I went wrong. First, the shrimp was very dark and gave the appearance that it might be overcooked. However, when you bite into one of the pieces, you are met with a bunch of coating and raw batter inside. How can something look overcooked but still be raw inside? That's a hard thing to accomplish. I checked several pieces thinking maybe it was just that one piece and it wasn't. The entire order of sweet and sour shrimp was the same, overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Suffice it to say, I am very disappointed. read more

Even though it's only drive-thru and to-go, I love coming to this place. (used to be a Burger Street) The food is good, the service is excellent. I've been to a number of Asian restaurants where the service is lacking, but these people are really nice. Family owned restaurant. I love getting the chicken lo mein (large serving, enough for 2), chicken broccoli, and chicken sticks (a little too greasy for my taste, but good nonetheless). Been coming here sense 2006. This is the Quint essential hole on the wall Chinese food. I get the shrimp lo mein and it is very satisfying. The portions are huge here. You always have leftovers. I am not a fan of there egg rolls. This place looks horrible from the curve but I have gotten to know the owners and there very nice. You won't get great customer service or penash here it is Balch Springs after all but I make a 5 mile trek to eat here. read more

Sesame chicken barely had any chicken in it. Sweet and sour shrimp had more breading than shrimp. This was a decent meal because I was hungry but other than that, it's more of your average fast food Chinese restaurant. read more

The sesame chicken was questionable- I wondered if there was actually any chicken in the small nuggets. Also the sweet and sour shrimp was overly breaded. The food would be better if it were cooked to order. I ordered cashew chicken, pot stickers and chicken sticks. I can tell it wasn't prepared to order because food was not hot enough, chicken sticks were warm but drying out. I believe they were already cooked but waiting for someone to order. Lol I just like this place for the entertainment. Once you pull up to the speaker box it's like a scene out of "Dude, Where's my car?"...just replace "AND DEN" with "OKAY". It's always a fast chopped off "OKAY", kind of like "OKA" minus the Y. I get a good laugh with a cheap meal! read more

Me and my family have been coming to this place for more then 10 years and have always had great food I am disappointed because this time around I ordered some cheese wontons and they tasted old and bad. I wasn't the only one who noticed it, I opened up another one and it definitely has a rotten smell. I called the restaurant to let them know that Something may have gone wrong. She said some thing about a refund but I told her that's not necessary maybe she could just credit the wontons for the next time I go because I've never had any issues. She states I need to bring them back. I told her I wasn't able to, she replied i'm the only one who complained and it's not her problem. Excuse me! I asked her to speak to a manager, "it's me im the owner" , I responded so you're the owner and you're telling me that since only one person complained it's not your problem? Her response was "no it's not! Only one person only you complained so no!" I'm genuinely upset and very disappointed and I will not be going back! she said yes I know who you are But then she hung up on me after saying that's on you. I can assure you that I've never ever even called the restaurant back or never spoke anything negative to them and even always gave them tips. Me and my children always love to get this food but this will be the last time because of the way she handled the situation! I wouldn't want them to give bad food to the next person I just wanted to let them know and I even spoke to her with respect and really wasn't even upset until she started being rude. It use to be a small drive through/walk up place that looked a bit shady, however they rebuilt it and IT IS FANTASTIC. They give good size portions, the food is good, they are VERY polite (they have a couple cute serving girls too not that it matters). I use to prefer pine tree garden, but this place is my new number 1. read more

Good Chinese food is hard to come by East of Dallas, however, when looking for quick drive through, well made, tasty with no after effects Chinese food, the Shang Yan delivers. The cooks are oriental Chinese, speak English, are friendly, and remember the regulars (of course, I'm a fan). The menu contains all the classic foods you'd expect to find at reasonable prices. Local competition in the area like The Pine Tree doesn't compare. If you're looking for a good Chinese sit-down dinner, sorry, this is not the place - it only offers drive-thru. read more

Best Chinese food in pleasant grove and mesquite area

I am a huge fan of hole in the wall Chinese restaurants, but this place was awful!! The sesame chicken was a joke -- overly greasy chewy fried chicken nuggets with some sort of sauce over them and a handful of sesame seeds. Upon arriving home I noticed they forgot the rice.
