My favorite Chinese food in all of DFW! I grew up on Chans and will drive 20 miles round trip for some of their food.

Usually this place is fantastic but a few months ago after i ate here the food literally gave me norovirus. I'm just now writing this because i just found out what the virus was, and I havent ate from this place since. The service is great and the people are nice but sadly i wont be coming back for food. read more

Food is always fresh and hot. Combination fried rice is my go to and it's always so good.

We have been ordering from this restaurant from when it was located in Garland. In the last few weeks they have gone completely downhill. We have ordered the barbecue ribs each time and this time they look like they were microwaved. Not the delicious red barbecue we normally get. I ordered Kung Pao chicken with cabbage, and it was so drenched in oil not sauce. I tried soaking up some of the grease with my napkin, but it was disgusting. The two women working the registers had the absolute worst attitudes. I didn't have the nerve to complain about my food, because I was scared of what I might get in return. I had been very satisfied with this restaurant for over 20 years. Today the food was horrible. The sesame chicken was hard as a rock. I had to throw the entire order away. I called the restaurant and gave them my opinion. She offered to replace the food but I live 20 minutes away, so I declined. I doubt if I'll ever return. Save your money and go to Wok Star at I-75 (Central Expwy) and Forest Lane in Dallas. read more

Ordered take-out during this quarantine and it was ready in about 10-15 minutes. Chicken lo mien and the General tso chicken lunch special that comes with either fried or steamed rice and an egg roll (served between 11-4pm). Fast and good Chinese food. I love this place, as a regular customer of Chan's Restaurant here is my insight: Great service, good value , clean and very generous portions. There is a glass window to the preparation and kitchen area, you can see your food being prepared. Clean and very hot woks , no risk of getting sick. NEVER had a problem with a single order! Been here hundreds of times, always well prepared,quickly prepared and as ordered. Picked up some "to go" food from Chan's in Mesquite (on Galloway) today. We have gone there for years. After getting home, I found that my husbands meal did not include rice. I called. They said that the rice is free and I am not charged for it, so technically I got what I paid for. When I argued that the cost of the rice is factored into the cost of the meal, she continued to tell me that the rice was free. They could "fix" this by my driving back to Chan's to pick up the "free" rice (20 minutes each way), or I could get an extra serving of rice the next time I came in. I argued that extra rice was no good without a main course to eat with it. I asked for a discounted meal the next time I came in. She refused, they don't give discounts. No manager was on duty. I told her that I was not happy and she replied that she was not either. That, in my opinion, is poor customer service. read more

Umm, NO. Hoped for just a mediocre Chinese place for lunch, but ugh. We've had lots of restaurant hot & sour soups over the years but this one was the worst, no joke. And the soup wontons were stale. Sweet and sour chicken was excessively deep fried and tough/stringy. So sorry for the poor review but would suggest at least re-making the hot & sour soup with different recipe. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. One star is too generous. All of the food tasted like it had been sitting under a food lamp all day. Had to return the wonton soup for something else because it was horrible. I had the Sesame Chicken and it was disappointing. It seems like a bunch of kids with attitude running this place. I will never eat here again. Definitely wasn't worth the money we spent. If you want good Chinese food, please look up Luckier on Gus Thomasson. It looks like from what I'm reading the quality of this food has gone way down hill in the past few months. My order was absolutely terrible but I guess this could be because I ordered on the later part of the night (9pm). Only thing I was actually able to eat was the rice. I ordered food for my son to pick up on his way home from work. They refused to allow me to pay for my food with a credit card. We have been ordering food from Chan's for 7 years and we have never been denied the ability to pre-pay for our food. The person I spoke to said it was a new policy. I can order food from almost any restaurant in Dallas and pre-pay for my food, but Chan's on Galloway wanted me to make a special trip to their location to come to the restaurant to pay. Personally, Chan's is one of my top local Chinese restaurants. I've personally only ever had a few iffy orders over the years (all due to rice being a bit over or undercooked), but all other times? It's been great! My go-to is their sesame chicken lunch special. Tastes amazing! And I highly recommend getting one or two cups of their chili oil. It's borderline addicting! read more

I visit Chan's in Mesquite often. The food is always good. What I like most is that you can see your food being cooked. They have a bar type area with a glass partition in front of the kitchen. Chan's used to be good pre-covid, we ate there pretty regularly: large portions, reasonably priced and would include egg rolls with lunch. This week the prices are up a couple dollars per meal, it wasn't as as good, runny sauce. So Chan's isn't the tasty value it used to be. Meh, not awful but we won't be back. read more

I couldn't agree more with Jessica W. I've been coming to Chans since I was about 12 years old, and they have been really disappointing lately. I'm 26 now and the food is way below average. I don't know if there was a change of management or what but I WANT THE OLD CHAN's back! The only reason I give them a 3 is because I still have hope and they have the best crispy noodles ever (even though there's not much to a fried wonton wrapper cut into strips). Would I try them? Poor customer service during COVID -19. Wanted to upgrade my orders to shrimp fried rice and noodles. The owners refused to oblige especially when competitors in the area would. The food was purchased out of convenience. Disappointed in the customer service received especially when I was willing to pay for the upgrade. read more
