I don't know how I've never been here, maybe I have and it's been a while, but recently came here with a friend to try out their Pakistani food. I was the newbie here and my friend has frequented this place a lot so I leaned on him for recommendations. In short, this is comfort food full of flavor though it might take a little time to get your food, it's all made fresh! L O C A T I O N Off of El Camino Real (I know that's not really descriptive as El Camino is VERY long) and Lawrence Expressway (now we're getting closer), in a shopping area with a Big Lots and 24 Hour Fitness. The plaza is called Lawrence Expressway Plaza. Lots of parking so easy to find one near the entrance. I N S I D E Fairly cozy with booths to sit in. There's also a few outdoor tables for seating if you'd want to eat al fresco. They have a water and tea station which is nice as well as serve your own plates and utensils. M E N U Fairly extensive with Tandoori dishes, curries, vegetarian faire, biryanis, naans, wraps...my head was dizzy from all the choices. But I went with the recommended Bangen Bhartha, Chicken Biryani, and a plain naan. ~ Bangen Bhartha ~ The description: a unique blend of eggplant, tomatoes, onions, cream and spices. And indeed it was. You can taste that they grilled the veggies which reminded me of a Filipino grilled eggplant dish. I love a good grilled eggplant and this went great with the plain naan we had. ~ Chicken Biryani ~ The description: Tender pieces of chicken cooked with basmati rice and spice flavoured sauce garnished with raita. That raita though....man I saved what I had after I finished that dish and used it on other food I had in the house. I love a yogurt sauce. It also complimented well with the chicken biryani. Again full of flavor but beware of stray chicken bones and hard pieces when chewing the rice. It is a bone in chicken that they cook which helps with the flavor of the dish not so much for your teeth. Also complimented well with the bangen bhartha. ~ Plain Naan ~ The naan was plain and I had to have the plain one as much as I'd love the garlic one as I do have garlic sensitivities. But it was crisp, chewy, sizeable and complimented our eggplant dish well. S E R V I C E Basically you order at the front, they give you a number. You sit down, they bring you the food, you get all your utensils and plates and drinks. Very bare bones in terms of service but kind of what I expected. Food did take some time but again I think that's due to them freshly cooking everything which can take some time. Then afterwards, you bring up your number and pay. Easily paid by credit card. O V E R A L L It was delicious. I would definitely come back to get everything I had again but I would probably venture into their tandooris or wraps to try it out. The menu's very extensive so grab a friend or two to be able to try out more stuff! read more

First time coming here, and here's my experience: 1. Ambience (4/5): I came around 3 PM. The restaurant had plenty of seating, was very clean, and had a minimalist design. 2. Service (3/5): I ordered at the cashier counter, and the guy gave me a number tag to place on my table. It was mostly self-service, I got my own water, hot milk tea, and utensils from the front station. Nothing special to mention about the service. 3. Food (3/5): - Chicken Biryani (2/5): This was my first time trying this dish. Personally, it lacked flavor, the rice was quite plain and there wasn't much chicken either. For $17, the portion felt small. The Indian spices had a strong aroma, but the overall taste was pretty bland. - Mango Lassi (4/5): I liked the mango flavor, it smelled good and wasn't too sweet. Overall: It wasn't a great experience for me. Maybe next time I'll try some curry if I get a chance. read more

Welcoming, friendly people! Arrived and was greeted by a smile. Nice vibe with good services. You do order yourself and seat yourself. Self serve at the water and coffee station Order the chicken kabab, chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, and of courgarlic naan. Naan are huge compared to restaurants I have been to in the past. Unfortunately they do not have my favorite dish, Butter Chicken. So we had the Tiki masala. read more

We tried out Chicken Biryani, Chicken Curry Korma and Garlic Naan and everything was super delicious. Nice Customer Service and place with nice seat colors. Great food. Good service. Flavorful chutney. The tandoori food is great, the chicken and paneer are our two favorites.

This place is my #1 for all times. Are you happy? Order food here. Are you sad? Order food here. Are you angry? Order food here. It will fix all your problems. Mr. Vinot the kindest human on this planet and has the best customer service ever. PS-- order the okra! It's often slept on. read more

Shan Restaurant - Chicken Seekh Kebab - Indian Near Me - Santa Clara, California

Shan Restaurant has quickly become one of my go-to spots for delicious, authentic South Asian cuisine. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is absolutely rich and flavorful -- creamy, well-spiced, and perfect with naan or rice. The Tandoori Leg is another standout: juicy, smoky, and perfectly charred on the outside, with tender meat that falls off the bone. But the real star for me is their Hyderabad Chicken Biryani -- fragrant, layered with flavor, and cooked to perfection. You can really taste the care in every bite. Service is usually prompt, and the portions are generous. Whether you're dining in or taking out, Shan delivers on both taste and quality every time. read more

This is a really good place to eat. We got the chicken wrap and it was huge and the mint chutney is chef's kiss. The only shame is that they only gave us one box instead of multiple chutney's because it was delicious. The portions were also very large for what the price is. The service was fast, we called it in and it was ready by the time we drove over. The ambiance was pretty meh. Most orders were to go. read more

Whenever I want a quick fix for Pakistani food, I order a take out from here. The waiting is not too bad compared to the other place i go. Their chai is delicious so make sure you grab a cup. My family don't like to dine in here due to the outside area is quite dirty and sketchy. read more

One of d oldest places in bay area. Dining is quite big but would recommend togo as it is either packed or not so clean on some occasions. Their food is awesome though. Things to not miss out are Tandoori chicken leg Chicken n lamb kabab Chicken Boti Chicken n lamb Curries were ok - ivee had better dishes at other places but Naan bread is huge and good Biryani is little different with Soo much rice and less meat and would say skip as there are other good biryani places Some of d friends recommended Brain masala but i didnt like it Go for Tandoori dishes for sure read more

Ambience isn't fancy. Fluorescent lights and order at the counter. Service is fast. Food is amazing. I had goat karahi which was moist, tender, flavorful and generously portioned. Solid North Indian/Pakistani cuisine. The place is a little run down and utensils, water, plates, etc. is self serve. You order first, grab a number, they serve it to you, then pay afterwards. +Chicken Karahi: SPICY. I love how spicy it was. Very flavorful with many spices that I can't name and has lots of chicken thighs! $9.49 +Plain Naan: Simple and delicious, fresh out of the oven. $2.00 +Chicken Seekh Kabob: chicken kabob wrapped in a naan with red onions. Pretty solid choice as a heavy snack or a meal if you're not too hungry. $5.99 +/-Chicken Biryani: My dad loves it and can eat this whole plate by himself... Personally, I think it's just okay and not super flavorful like he says it is. There's a lot of big pieces of tender chicken in here though, making it a pretty good deal! $8.99 Overall, the food's great so I keep coming back. Besides them bringing the food to you, there's no service here by the way! It's definitely a super casual place to have a quick bite. They also have complimentary self serve chai! read more

Pros: Open till late. Good kababs. Cons: Most of the menu items are not good, especially the biryani. The service is on the dismal side, but considering the price point here, I am not too critical of that aspect. Stick to the traditional kababs and breads (naan etc.), and you will be satisfied most of the time. I have been there a few times, and mostly with group of friends. So, we got to try different menu items, and now know to avoid everything else. Especially the biryani, which is a shame, since I like their particular style of biryani. In fact the last time I had their biryani, half of the biryani rice was just spoilt and the chicken was partially raw. Presumably they mixed old biryani with a new batch. We told them, but they did not seem to care at all! Worth visiting if you have late night cravings, and want reasonably priced decent options. Probably not so much if other similar restaurants are an option. read more

Terrible customer support, make sure you never accidentally mix up delivery and pick up on DoorDash, because they will make it extremely hard for even DoorDash Support. Accidentally placed pick-up and needed delivery so I contacted DD Support, they told me since I placed the order less than 8 minutes ago that they should be able to cancel my order so I can replace my order with a delivery as they are unable to just switch it on their end if they marked it "In Progress" already. I called them and they continuously just told me "no pick it up", or telling me to switch it to delivery myself and they won't help, "go call DoorDash". If I could switch it myself I would've already done so. And so I did call DoorDash support and they attempted to call the restaurant on my behalf and then they marked my order complete almost right away, so I was unable to refund it. Mind you, I ordered like 5 big items, it wasn't like snacks or drinks anything. And then because they did that, DoorDash support couldn't do anything for 20-30ish minutes. I was literally willing to be double charged just so I can get my items delivered and get my Pick-Up order refunded later on. I've worked in a restaurant before and am familiar with the DoorDash platform they use, and they purposefully made it hard when I was literally willing to be charged again, just so they see I wasn't going to just refund my order. Internal Support for DoorDash literally had to step in. Now not only will I not be replacing my order, I got my refund and I will never be ordering from them again. I literally ordered from them countless of times, probably one of their regulars at this point. But just absolutely terrible support. I just don't understand why they were making it so hard for even DoorDash support, nothing was being lost. read more

GIVE ME 1 GOOD REASON TO VISIT AGAIN IN YOUR RESTAURANT !!! It was one of my favorite restaurants. But recently it changed my mind. I ordered few items out of which there was 1 lamb seek kebab and 4 chicken seek kebabs. Earlier the size/quantity of the those were amazing that 2 pcs were more than enough for a single person. But now they have reduced the size/quantity but also increased some price recently. You can still see the difference in the pictures. DID YOU REDUCE THE QUANTITY BECAUSE I ORDERED 4 OF IT ??? read more

The food is so good here. The first time we ordered butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. It was good. The second time, we had the the naan bread (plain), palak paneer(paneer-cheese in chopped spinach), mild chicken biryani (spiced rice and chicken), palak gosht (lamb curry cooked with tomatoes and spices), raita (yogurt with cucumbers & spices) and it was excellent! Our friends ordered the same as our second order above except the chicken gosht instead of the lamb gosht, which was delicious. They weren't sure if we liked lamb and they also ordered the chicken kabob and chicken tandoori for us. We thought it was delicious, so we went back and ordered some of the same items. It was just as good. The place is a hole in a wall and it doesn't have any ambiance, so best to take it to go. read more

Tried their food amd mashallah it is halal and very tasty. The service and the ambiance is good.

First time eating Indian food and I'm pretty satisfied! A lot of the Indian restaurants on El Camino are buffets and I didn't feel like doing the whole buffet thing. Shan is definitely a hole in the wall place because I passed by this place while I was looking for it (right next to the liquor store by big lot!) My dad ordered the lamb curry. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was seriously so flavorful and delicious. Rice and naan as a side to eat with all the sauce that's leftover, soo good. Definitely will be coming back! read more
