It was really cold outside and we were waiting for our takeout to be ready and walked into the pub. Seated right away and enjoyed some drinks over poutine. I've not been to this pub's past location in Gastown so I can't compare it to its past venue, and I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on that, but we both had a great time here! The pub interior was very reminiscent to the Irish pubs I frequented back in the day, when I spent time on the Emerald Isle: dark wood panelling, humongous selection of liquors and beers and bottles on the mirrored bar back, Guinness decor (posters and tchatchkies) interspersed with relics of various Catholic saints and deities. Wooden tables and chairs. Servers with genuine Irish accents. It felt like the real deal. Oh, and if you're into whiskey, they have one of the most extensive whiskey menus I've seen in Vancouver, by far (I am attaching a photo). Their food menu was impressive, too, especially for an Irish pub (which, in my day, wasn't really known for its food!). I had a Bailey's and my kid had a shandy (she had never had one before and she loved it). Our server was friendly and the atmosphere, casual and welcoming.

About 10-15 other patrons inside. "Just to let you know, we're closing our kitchen in 5 minutes". Business hours listed open until 11pm on Fridays - Happy Hour starts at 9pm..... But you want to close the kitchen at 8:55pm? We asked if they were willing to even cook anything more or honor a large happy hour order of food and drinks since they're cutting it off. Manager came over to tell us no, they're shutting down early. We responded that we'll just leave then. He said, "Ok great!" We grab our things and head out at 8:55pm and several mice scurry past us. Unwelcoming and rude!

Staff are friendly and attentive, without being too pushy or intrusive. We didn't order food, so can't comment on that other than the menu seemed to have all the usual items you'd expect from a bar. However we were shocked at the price. Two drinks each for two of us came to over $60! I get it, they're a business in a prime tourist spot, but that still was too much and enough to make me consider going elsewhere next time I'm in the area.

Which wasn't working very well when I asked for help from the bouncer to use the atm HE TOOK MY CARD and pulled out 100 dollars to pay for all my friends. When I expressed that I wasn't trying to pay for everyone, just myself, he threatened to kick me out. Later my friend was being accosted by a man in the crowd and we had to physically push him away FOUR TIMES before bar staff intervened (there was an employee standing about a foot away the entire time). The staff were straight up disrespectful and awful and the only nice person in the entire joint was the poor overworked bartender. A literal angel sent from heaven and great eye candy. This was the worst drinking experience I have ever had and also LUDICROUSLY OVERPRICED. The band wasn't bad but I'm also not convinced they were even playing and might have just been there for aesthetics. The bathrooms were also not that bad for a bar, they just didn't have toilet paper. It's also not that Irish and I had a better time waiting in line in the pouring rain than I did inside. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE VISITING VANCOUVER. It was so bad that one of my friends Irish goodbyed bc she hated it so much and felt so strongly that she needed to leave RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!!!

Firstly when we arrived nobody greeted us for I would say about 10 minutes even though the place was quite empty when we arrived, and when we finally received a table we were seated at a table that was wobbly, and the menus we received were stained and sticky, which got me immediately on edge about hygiene and made me uncomfortable. For drinks selection - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else, and the place being quite empty the vibe was quite boring too. I just felt uncomfortable being there and there isn't anything special about this pub that you can't get better anywhere else. We finished the one drink that we got and headed elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this spot.
