My family had been customers here every Saturday for about 2 months. And being vegetarian in a restaurant with little to no vegetarian dishes sometimes we have to be creative. Most restaurants are more than accommodating and will go out of their way especially if the menu is lacking non-meat and/or non-fish choices. My mother ordered a grilled cheese on 5 grain bread with tomato and mayo every time we ate here. One night our waitress came out after had ordered, slammed our drinks down and said "this is the last time we are making this for you." It was humiliating, embarrassing and rude. If there was a problem with making the sandwich the problem should have been addressed the day we ordered it. Even then if the owner had a problem with us ordering it it would have been a little more professional to deal with the problem face to face rather than sending an employee out to be as rude as she was about it. We will never return but that goes with out saying. I'm giving this place one star because this incident ruined the whole experience for me. Before this incident I would give this establishment 3 stars. An average rating for mediocre food, bellow average customers service, and lack of flexibility in the already lacking menu. read more

I was given a $50 gift card from a friend. It was bought a year ago. When I presented it with the bill the new owners refused it for payment. This is a very busy cafe, be sure to go early! My two brothers-in-law and I go every Thursday between 11 and 11:45am (guess that we might be considered regulars). By the time that we leave, the place is packed! This is a locals place, it is a couple of minutes off 41 on Shamrock. The staff is friendly and you will usually hear them greet at least a couple of customers by name during your meal. You don't do the kind of business that they do with area residents if: (a) your food is not consistently good or (b) you are over charging. I can honestly say that I do not remember being disappointed with the food. Not that I'm saying it hasn't happened (I sure that it has), it just is so rare that I don't remember. I also don't remember leaving hungry, that I would remember! I have had lunch with my brothers-in-law there, then went to dinner there with my wife. It is a 20 minute drive each way for us and we pass a ton of places to eat along US 41, having eaten at most of them over the years. But sometimes you just feel like having what the Shamrock Cafe has to offer. read more

WHAT A LOVELY LUNCH TREAT HERE TODAY!!! When my friend Sheila invited me to meet her for lunch here today I was only too happy to accept. I had not seen her since I started dogsitting a few weeks ago and had not been to this place in ages. Never realized they made such a great Caesar Salad with Shrimp, and Sheila too was delighted with her choice of Turkey Rueben with fries. Used to be a great little breakfast spot, but now terrible after new management took over. Will not be back and several other customers told my husband and I the same thing when we were there 2 weeks ago. Our breakfast was horrible!! His biscuits and gravy had these hard little biscuits with a thin grey gravy and my "made in house" corned beef hash that used to be awesome was that mushy stuff that comes out of a can. They really should correct their menu. The waitress was apologetic, but no manager came to the table, she told us after going to the back, "no one will listen to me". Good service, decent food. The fare is a little plain, I suspect they do better with breakfast than with dinner but as I'm not breakfast people I can't confirm that. I'm going to recommend this as a decent spot for a quick bite that's less dangerous to your long term health than fast food but isn't much more impressive. read more

The food is pretty good. Not cheap, but not unreasonable. A local hole-in-the-wall where the locals go. Two older women waitresses running their butts off. At least one if not two more servers were necessary. We stood for 45 minutes waiting at the entrance! These women were clearly never trained in how to be servers. It was like watching the Keystone Cops. If I weren't so tired and back hurting from waiting, we could have laughed. Incredibly inefficient, wasted movement. My first job working for others was at 15 in an Isaly's soda fountain. Staff was constantly going back and forth from the front to the back of teh store. The takeaway learned was to never go empty-handed, always take something with you. These ladies clearly never learned that. No trays to bring food out from kitchen, only what they could hold in their hand, same for taking dirty dishes back, trippling or quadrupling their workload with multiple trips to the same table. If they could work efficiently, they'd earn another star, maybe even a 5th one. As it is, record the shows you want to see at that time on TV, because you'll be at the Shamrock Cafe for a loooonnnggg time. Be in a good mood so that you don't get annoyed waiting for them. read more

I've had the omelet several different ways and they have been consistently good. Now it's time to try dinner at the Shamrock Cafe.

We had the Prime Rib special. It was a large piece of meat but did not melt in our mouths like other Prime Rib meals we have had. Also, no rolls served. One other observation is in the dollar indicators in reviews it shows one $, which is lower than almost all other restaurants. This is absolutely not the case. Sitting in Shamrock Cafe for the first time having just had corn beef and eggs breakfast. Just a small tightly packed strip mall restaurant with great food and friendly service. Fast too! Lots and lots of locals that know each other know the best places, this is one. Corned beef looks like canned until you taste it, absolutely home made. The hash browns were also freshly made, not frozen. The 9 grain toast was good but not the thick bark and twigs bread I expected. Wife enjoyed the French toast and thick sausage patty's. I normally don't frequent restaurants like Shamrock Cafe because the menu is boring. My husband and I had lunch there yesterday and it was very good. Took another couple there this morning for breakfast and I had their pumpkin pancake. It was very good. If you like good old fashion hearty food this is the place to go. The wait staff is very friendly. Chrisie was our waitress, friendly and a sense of humor. We will be back as we live here year round and will go often. read more

Yum! Stopped here on our way to the beach. At first was a little leary because it looks homey. But we loved the Irish theme and the food was delicious. I would give this place no stars if the waitress didn't take 50% off the bill. She was nice. My omelette was cold, with a Kraft single less than half melted on top, peppers with no flavor, and bacon that was half cooked. I scraped the cheese off the top with a fork. My girlfriend got French toast, and the bottom was so eggy and soggy it just didn't taste good or fresh, almost like I pre packaged frozen French toast. I got home fries that were stone cold and mine had a mushroom in it.. Pretty sure it wasn't supposed to be there. The eggs were straight yellow with no seasoning. Heard they have new ownership so I decided to give it a try after a bad experience 4 years ago. Food was ok, service was ok, but the wait for the food was overly long but the wait for the check (over 25 min) was ridiculous and made this another unpleasant experience. What is so difficult about leaving the check on the table? No one likes to be ignored, but I do not blame the waiter as there were only 2 on a Saturday night. Such a lovely neighborhood restaurant! Everyone who works there is cheerful. I had a fried cod sandwich, which came with homemade tartar sauce. It was huge, fresh, and delicious. My husband had a turkey wrap special with homemade cranberry sauce and stuffing on it... Mmmm. Great fries, cole slaw, macaroni salad, and you get a ridiculous amount of quality food for the money.
