I wanted to try this place from a TikTok video I saw we are visiting from La and we were disappointed. The service was terrible waiter was not attentive she got my order wrong and she didn't seem interested in waiting tables her attitude was a little off putting. I ordered king crab muscles and head on shrimp as well as a clam chowder. My friend ordered the garlic noodles. We also ordered drinks. The garlic noodles were just a small scoop of fishy noodles my friend hated them. The muscles shrimp and crab were in a good sauce it was very flavorful. The clam chowder was good as well the crackers were stale though. However I feel like the price was a little pricey for what we got and the service charge for terrible service is crazy. A friend and I tried this place out yesterday evening after hearing about a deal on Pulsd. It came with the standard boil with crawfish, head on shrimp, and mussels (1 lb each). However, the boil came back cold and many mussels were closed and/or empty. This morning, we both realized we had food poisoning. Never seen anything like this. Not blaming the cook or the staff. Maybe where they are getting their crab from. I didn't complain. I paid my bill. Also there was tip included when I was going to tip 20-25 percent either way. I just feel like I was jipped out of actual good. Especially if I'm paying 50 plus a plate. Please check your inventory. I used to go to the shaking crab uptown when I worked in Manhattan, and it was the best service, food, ambiance period everything was great period I tried some of the other locations and they didn't quite measure up. So my fingers were crossed today when I came to this location. First off, It's not in Williamsburg. It's really Bushwick conveniently located on Flushing Avenue, I was able to find parking right out front and walked into one of the best musical playlists I've heard in a while. All of the music was appropriate for all ages, played at a respectable level: hip-hop, Soca, r&b, pop, and reggae! The space is small but accommodating, with incredibly friendly staff. The food is decent, as are the drinks, many notably Caribbean and Brooklyn themed. Happy hour is even available on Saturdays! (classic drinks are not included) Now to the food. Portions are lacking for some of the combos (i went with the Royal), precisely those with king crab how where the size of the snow and king so close? Especially when they were close to the same size! There is were about 10-12 peel, and eat shrimp (med - lrg size). In the mix as well, was one reg sized snow crab claw, one small king crab leg. A single slender leg. The food is boiled without seasoning and tossed into a bag together, after the fact. Its painfully obvious in the potatoes (mushy) and corn (sour), as they were overcooked and lacking good flavor. I ended up tossing the corn as it tasted off. Dipping the seafood in the sauce worked fine, and I stuck to just that. Aside from all of this, the thing that caught me of guard was the mandated 20% gratuity, plus tax, made a $62 meal $80. We had the Jumbo jumbo's with sausage and Barlic sauce. It was tasty and more than enough for 2. You are able to choose the level of heat you prefer. She was super sweet and attentive and went over the menu with us. I will say "Alaskan King Crabs" are on the menu but they're out of season. So if you're coming here soon, don't anticipate that because they don't have it. We visited 04/20/2022. I ordered lemon pepper wings for $13 and to my surprise it was 4 chicken wingettes meaning only 4 drums at $3.25 a piece. That's absolutely absurd. They really need to change the price on that asap, that's way over retail and inflation cost in general. The virgin Pineapple coral is $8. It's not an alcoholic drink and priced super high. That small cup should not cost more than $4 especially since it's mostly ice. I don't eat seafood but they had a small selection of out of sea menu and they didn't have much out of it at the restaurant itself aside the wings, mac n cheese and garlic noodles. I ordered all of those things which were decent but the Mac n cheese was super bland. I ordered a side of shaking sauce for $6 (Yikes) that too is expensive for a side sauce but that actually made the food more pleasant to eat. Service great Food good Price? Not worth it. I really wanted to like this place, based on its convenient location to us, its menu, and the beautiful decor. However, when my food arrived there was as clear as day a thick black hair in it. It was very distinctively a beard hair or it could've been mistaken for pubic hair at that. When we brought it to the general manager's attention (quietly at that so as to not alarm other patrons) she just brought it right back to me after speaking with the kitchen staff, stating it was from the corn husk. I didn't really say much in reply to that other than "are you sure?" And then she backtracked to tell me they would make me another plate (good reaction right?)... Well, it would've been but then only minutes later she congregated at the end of the bar telling the bartender and server that it's only from the corn but since I wouldn't believe it she's having the kitchen staff remake it. Listen, I get that maybe you don't always see eye to eye with customers, but badmouthing your customers within ear shot doesn't exactly leave a good impression. It made me really uncomfortable, so when the GM passed again, I said to her "listen that's not right, I cook regularly so I know the difference between hair and what corn husks would look like cooked". She replied "Riiiiight (as though I was crazy) we are having it remade." When the new plate arrived, we basically stopped receiving service & had to repeatedly flag the staff down for assistance. I understand people aren't perfect and make mistakes, so I really try to give people grace but all of this was a really crappy way to react to a person who doesn't want to eat food with a stranger's hair in it. Also, their high chairs are broken so if you don't have a comfortable stroller you may not want to bring your toddlers or babies here. In response to owner: I appreciate the swift response. I went to Shaking Crab to see what the big hype was about. I'm so disappointed in the food quality and drinks. Let's start with the drinks. The drinks were watered down you can't even taste the alcohol. We ordered the jumbo shaker which cost $124 for two which clearly isn't worth it for the amount of food. The sauce we chose was Barlic and oh my so salty. The spicy calamari not worth 18$ not even fresh it tasted very chewy! I ordered garlic noodles and they put it in my basket instead of separately which made them super soggy and were so bland. I had to order a second order of garlic noodles because we didn't get to enjoy the one they placed inside my seafood. My total bill was 209$ not worth it!!! They were out of lobster tail and the shrimps were small, they didn't give my friends the option of head-on shrimps, we kind of assumed that's what they would be. The French fries to our surprise were waffle fries. Usually that's advertised as such, my friend was disappointed they were waffle fries, I wasn't so I ate most of them, they were seasoned well. Pretty good! I am a hardcore Claw Daddy's fan but I tried Shaking Crab in Boston and it was decent so I decided to check out this location since it's less than a five minute walk from my home. Wee got the calamari as our appetizer and it was okay but nothing to rave about. We each got the boil for one which was delicious but they don't provide enough sauce and the portion was a little on the smaller side. Then to top it off we ordered our food and the portions were so small smh. I've been to other seafood restaurants and I ALWAYS end up taking half of my food home because too much.
