So I have been off my reviews for a while, BUT I was so inclined to come let y'all know about my experience yesterday (Sunday 8/24/25). The 'manager' Vanessa was disgusting! First, in the way she talked openly bad to her staff with no discretion that there were customers within arms length as she used strong language like "if you don't wanna do it, then go home". Well she then took that same attitude with me and my 20+ guests (14 were minors). She came back to our tables asking us to show our receipts in order to confirm we had all paid for our bunch a lunch. I could possible understand in some instance because my mom was holding a tray of 30 cupcakes, came to the tables to sit them down, then went back to pay so maybe she didn't see that, but that's a problem they need to fix like other Shakey's make you pay before sitting down or give a hand stamp or something. Well you may be still thinking this is ok, except she didn't ask any other customers AND even when we presented her with receipts (which I reluctantly did, because why!?) she still kept trying to insist we had more people then we paid for. Well we explained that 3 of the kids un chose not to eat and only wanted to play games (their ADHD meds messes with their appetite IYKYK). She then stopped one of the teenage kids that was coming to sit down with her plate, and said wait give me your receipt... and I about lost it, saying don't say shit to none of my kids, you address me as an adult. Well she pissed me off so good I turned off my HR voice by now so she stormed off. Then sending one of her staff to come get the smoke that she created, while she watched from a distance. Also when it was time to get the prizes for the kids who played the games (as we paid our price in gold on the games alone) she made sure to rush over to check us out and tried rushing the kids to decide what toy. I told her Aht Aht and gave her that I wish you would face, and after the 2nd child she finally let her staff take over. This restaurant and the food are always clean and delicious (except the brown lettuce for the salad bar). I won't let her run me off from visiting this location because it is most convenient for me, but she better know I'm ready to rumble if she challenges me again. read more

Just had lunch here. Service was good. My sister had chicken and put all her bones to the side for her dog. So when she has my son go ask for a bag‍ some of the workers started staring like we were stealing ‍. Anyhow I didn't finish my food and my son puts my chicken leg that I didn't touch in the bag ‍. Anyhow while leaving, the server who attended to us said sarcastically "thank you!" And said something else afterwards. I just said thank you and walked out. I haven't gone to shakey's since I was a kid, and coming in I was glad to see it hasn't really changed. As soon as I walked in the staff was very helpful and the cashier was really nice. As I waited for my pizza and the classic mojo potatoes, another staff member came up to assist me by asking if I need a plate or any sauces to go with my food and was really kind. To wrap up in a nice bow tie another staff member who came to set my pizza and fries onto the table. For the price point (about 12$/person as of the date of this post), their lunch buffet is quite good. They offer a variety of pizza (thin-crust & not bad tasting), pastas, fried chicken (crispy and maybe a bit salty), (famous)mojo potatoes, salad and other options. Drinks are separate. If you like these kinds of food, it makes for quite a satisfying lunch. The challenge is that you don't overeat to the point that you aren't able to walk out without groaning & holding on to your stomach. We may or may not have succeeded in this goal. :-D Oh, I have to say though, they had these little churro type bites that were so hard they almost broke my teeth. Ok, I'm obviously exaggerating, but truthfully, they weren't very good. So maybe skip out on those & just have some more mojo potatoes instead. :-D read more

I was immediately welcomed by Karina which put me at ease. I ordered the small pepperoni pizza with wings and a cherry Pepsi. My order was hot and ready in no time! The sauce and cheese on my pizza was a excellent combination where neither one overpowered the other. My wings were awesome and not fried hard, which I appreciated. With a side of ranch and buffalo sauce you can't go wrong. The ambiance was nice thanks to both Evelyn, Karina and the rest of the staff. The service was great, wait time is pretty good even for a friday night. Parking was easy to find. The last time I ate here was when I was just a kid. Years later, the food is still awesome. The pizza was piping hot. Nice crunch, meat and veggies were perfection in my opinion. No burnt edges to be found. The mojos and chicken were fresh outta the fryer. Nicely seasoned and super hot haha be careful. I wish I took more pictures but everyone was starving. Salad bar was good. Refillable drinks. The dining area was pretty neat and every worker we encountered was nice and courteous. They had football and some Nba on their TVs. Dining room was well lit and the floors were not slippery like other pizza places. My only wish is that they get some more newer games in the arcade section, but no biggy, kids had fun. read more

Always love pizza and mojo potatoes. They are nice very friendly specially the elderly lady that works their she's such a sweet heart. She deserves 5 starts out of all the staff. The reason for only 3 starts is there floors. They are so slippery, you will literally slip and hurt yourself. It seems no one knows how to mop or the night crew that cleans doesn't clean the floors very well or at all. It's so dangerous walking on that floor. Let's talk about the salad bar, the lettuce was so bad I did not get to enjoy a salad. It seems as if they don't throw out the salad from the day or two ago. Cucumbers were yellow and the a few other salad items were not appealing. They can add a few more items to the brunch for the price they are charging. Just saying. Went in for Shakey's bunch of lunch, which is from 11am to 2pm. The food was fresh and hot. The staff kept up with replacing pizza and placing new pizza and chicken and mojos. I haven't been here in so long and it was great going back again. Not that many people around 1:30 pm made it before the buffet closed. read more

The worst restaurant I have ever been to in Carson. Service is so bad... staff are rude. There's only one cashier and she's doing the mobile order too that's why the line was long. Took so long for the food to be served. 45 minutes for pizza, chicken and mojos? Crazy! I will never go back to this restaurant ever again even if someone will pay for my food. It is not worth of my time! And the most unacceptable thing is they gave us back to school free individual one topping pizza certificate in the school where my children are attending that's why we asked other parents to join us but unfortunately they only honor a couple of them and said to other parents that they run out of the personal pizza which is so unlikely for a pizza parlor. I've been to Shakey's in many locations. However, the staff here are not good. Even though I received a plate from the staff. One staff member uses too many plates. They complained to me. I am careful about food other than liquids. I use it many times while wiping it with a napkin. When it is lowered or there is no way to wipe it Go to the staff where the plates are. I was getting a plate. However, one female staff member Do I pick up a lot of dishes? I have been complaining that I use it too much. The food here is super good. I enjoy their buffets and their pizzas during regular times. I personally enjoy eating the Firehouse Pizza, it's so tasty and can really fill you up when it's a pan. The service and ambiance of this place is really great. The employees are so kind and regularly check up on tables. I enjoy this one employee who brings such a great smile while working and makes people's day more better.
