I'm a fan of Shake Shack - they have a relatively straightforward menu and I always find the food to be high quality. You can imagine then, my delight when I heard a new location was opening in The Westchester. Since I was in the mall today picking up a few things I decided to take advantage and head to the food court to check it out. This is the first Shack to open in White Plains, and the third overall in Westchester (the other two being in Hartsdale and Yonkers). A few years back there was a complete overhaul of the mall's food court - the typical mall offerings were eliminated and new, arguably more premium brands took up shop. The food court overall was definitely an upgrade, and Shake Shack fits well into the aesthetic. Owing to the popularity of Shack and the fact that it recently opened, they drew the biggest (socially distant) crowd in the food court. The line moved quickly though, and the wait for my food afterward was not long at all. I'm a fan of the Chick'n Shack so I ordered that with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious - just the right amount of lettuce, pickles, and mayo, and the chicken was high quality as usual. What I loved most about this particular experience was the customer service. I had a promo code to use and the team member ringing me up went the extra step to make sure it was honored when there was initial difficulty getting it to work. Additionally, when I picked up my order the runner was very friendly and made sure the order was complete; I could really tell the entire team was working as a cohesive unit - such efficient service. Overall, I had a great experience at this new Shack. The food was great as expected, and the service was awesome. I'm glad that they opened a location in White Plains, and look forward to the next time I want to treat myself.

Maybe it's because I'm old and can only hark back to the glory days of the original Madison Square Park Shake Shack, but this beloved NYC Danny Meyer staple has become a sad shadow of its former memory. It was worth waiting in line among dozens of New Yorkers eagerly awaiting a ShackBurger and a seasonal shake. The trip was an experience and the food was your reward. But gone are the glory days of the OG Shake Shack. I'm only left with thin tasteless overcooked meat, a greasy oil bomb of molten cheesy portobello, a limp vegetable menagerie, and a meek Martin's potato roll fighting for relevancy. In the shareholders' defense, Shake Shack has considerably improved their crinkle-cut fries to a layered crispy/soft contrast to give you both the exterior crunch and the fluffy inside. But unfortunately, it was not enough to save my Shake Shack order. And it doesn't help that the food takes forever, even if there's no line. As an ardent defender of Shake Shack vs. In-N-Out vs. Five Guys, I am sad to say Shake Shack has lost this battle.

Hot dog burnt beyond recognition. Inedible.

I liked the new-wave graffiti style throughout the interior--it gives the place a modern, energetic feel that stands out from typical fast-food spots. It was pretty busy when I arrived, so there was a little bit of a wait, but it was completely understandable once I got my food. What really stood out to me was that everything came out hot. That may sound simple, but these days it's actually rare. Whether it's places like Burger King, McDonald's, or even fried chicken spots like Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, food often comes out lukewarm. Fried chicken especially needs to be hot, and Dave's absolutely delivered. My entire meal--from the mozzarella sticks to the fries--was fresh and hot. I ordered the mozzarella sticks with a little kick, and they were fire. You can adjust the spice level, and the seasoning gave them just enough heat without overpowering the flavor. The fries were hot and crispy, and they came with Dave's sauce, which was surprisingly good and paired really well with everything. Another nice surprise was the slice of bread tucked underneath the mozzarella sticks--simple, but it really hit the spot. The service was also excellent, and I want to give a special shout-out to Jo Jo and Isaiah working the front line. These two really held it down. Their energy is exactly what establishments like this need. They were engaging, positive, smiling, attentive, and in my opinion they kick off the entire experience from the moment you walk in. The manager also came over and greeted me, asking if I was being helped. I made sure to tell him that the front-line energy is the business, because when your team sets the tone like that, it makes a big difference in the overall experience. The only thing I wish they had on the menu would be bone-in chicken. Wings or traditional bone-in pieces would be amazing because that's usually my go-to. That said, the food I had was so good that it didn't take away from the overall experience. Overall, I was surprisingly impressed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere. If you're in the White Plains area and want hot, fresh food with real flavor and great service, Dave's Hot Chicken is definitely worth checking out.

I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing but passable enough if you're in the mood for hot chicken. I wanted to try the mozzarella sticks that everyone keeps raving about, and honestly, they don't live up to the hype. Kinda one note in my opinion. The sliders were great though. Plus, the food photographs well. Will have to give it another try.

You can tell they really know what they're doing on the grill. The bun was soft, the toppings were fresh, and everything was balanced really well. It's the kind of spot you'd come back to whether you're grabbing a quick bite or eating with friends. Easily one of the better smash burgers I've had in a while. If you're a burger fan, this place is 100% worth checking out.

Mashed Burgers first caught my attention while walking in Downtown White Plains. I had never heard…read moreof this place before, but after a little research I found out it's a franchise with locations mostly in Jersey. It took a while, but I was in the area today and decided to finally check them out for lunch. As suggested by the name, Mashed Burgers is a smashed burgers spot - similar in line to a Five Guys or Shake Shack. Unlike those, the theming at Mashed is a little more eclectic - lots of bold colors with an almost urban vibe. The arcade games in the main dining area complete the look. The space isn't too large - the ordering counter take up a good amount of space but they have several tables and a stool counter setup. Smashed burgers are the star the menu, available in a couple of styles as well as in single, double, and triple. Additionally, they have several varieties of fries, Nashville hot chicken, shakes, and churros. Since it was my first time, I decided to go simple and get a single mashed burger and an order of fries. The burger was good - a single patty was just enough, though if I was hungrier I could definitely down a double. The patty had that smashed thickness and was paired with cheese, pickles, and a tasty Mac-like sauce. The fries were a generous portion, and were those crispy "psoriasis" kind that I love mmm. Service was fast - they have an efficient system and my order was ready relatively quickly. Overall, I had a good first experience at Mashed Burgers. This isn't the healthiest option on the Mamaroneck Ave strip, but they are formidable competitor to Five Guys and if the mood catches me I wouldn't be against returning.

Why no menu option for no salt? BK and soda - why so small?- Mickey D's sodas are much bigger. If it was $5.99 for a medium whopper meal instead of $7.98 -I might be back.
