2 Scoops Ice Cream
Ariel M.

I got a scoop of the lavender and the blueberry cheesecake from here and it was amazing!! The size of the scoops for the price was good as well, definitely worth the money. It wasn't busy at all when I went and the service was excellent. There was plenty of seating and even a station to pour yourself a cup of water which I really appreciated.

Kahlua/Cappuccino + Killer Chocolate shake

We used a Groupon to buy an ice cream and a shake. It's a very nice spot with good tasting ice cream. I ordered the kahlua cappuccino shake with a scoop of killer chocolate. It was good and not too sweet. The vanilla that the boys ordered was good, but they said they've had better. The staff member there was friendly and helpful. There is a fair amount of seating for a small ice cream shop which is a plus.

Rich, creamy, reasonably priced ice cream. I really like their ice cream. I also like that they have parked and outdoor seating to enjoy your treats. Cute decor inside, including the bathroom. Workers were friendly and did a good job dealing with the influx of customers at once.

While there is no shortage of diverse businesses and eateries in White Plains, they never had a decent, independent ice cream parlor. While there is a Cold Stone and a 16 Handles on the Mamaroneck Ave strip, I always yearned for an ice cream spot that wasn't a chain. You can imagine my excitement when I saw signage that Ice Cream Social was coming soon, and since I had just finished dinner nearby I decided to walk over to check them out. ICS sits on Mamaroneck Ave, kind of away from the main commercial hub but still walkable if you're in the area. The building used to be a florist which never reopened after COVID lockdown, and they did a great job freshening up the space and making a welcoming aesthetic. The interior isn't large but is really bright which makes it seem very open. As you walk in you're greeted by the display counter and to the left is a walkway where they are planning to make seating. In the meantime, there are tables and benches outside where you can sit and enjoy. They have a good selection of ice cream flavors and balance out the classics with more creative combos. They have a number of toppings to choose, as well as milkshakes and to-go pints. It's worth noting that ICS serves Jane's Ice Cream, a family-operated business located in the Hudson Valley. Jane's actually services a number of businesses in NYS, I was looking at their website and was surprised to see many places I have been to use their ice cream. Anyway, since it was my first time here I wanted to play it on the safe side and ordered the pistachio. The ice cream was great - it was creamy with good flavor without being overpowering- there were also a LOT of pistachios. The consistency was somewhat unique, kind of hard to describe but definitely a welcome change compared to other ice creams I have had. With free parking, a welcome atmosphere, and a solid product, Ice Cream Social is a welcome addition to White Plains, and arguably a needed one. I'm happy to see them here and wish the owners best of luck with their new business. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their flavors.

I urge you to come here instead of Cold Stone Creamery- even if this place isn't churning their own ice cream. Ways away from Downtown White Plains' restaurant scene, Ice Cream Social is on the quieter side of Mamaroneck Ave. Skip inside and you'll notice bright white walls and a colorful menu. Some of the flavors lean towards the unusual- especially for White Plains. At least 20 flavors (more?) is all you'll find at Social with at least 4 of those being Sorbet and other Vegan flavors prepped with non-dairy milk. So go get ready to try the Lavender which is intense, Salted Caramel Pretzel and others. The Vegan 'Brownie Batter' sounded terrific but the Saturday night we came in, all they had was sorbet(~_~;). My (regular) Lavender was terrific and Salted Caramel Pretzel- divine. Except my 'Killer Chocolate' in my Sundae, was nothing like it. With a name like that, I expected a more profound dark chocolate flavor. Hubs liked his Pralines & Cream but loved the Lemon Sorbet with grated lemon more. Service is friendly. Enjoy your ice cream outside in their patio because it seems Social has a serious fan base.

This place is great! I'm so glad it opened finally! It's convenient to get to and is one of the only ice cream shops in downtown White Plains. There is free parking, as well as outdoor (and indoor) seating. There are a plethora of flavors and options, including milkshakes, sundaes and sorbet. I'm so glad I stopped by here because I've been looking for authentic Italian lemon ice and they have it. I'm so glad it was delicious, flavorful and had lemon chunks in it. They also have plenty of seating for parties, too. I'm glad that there is a new option for ice cream in White Plains!

Whenever I have an ice cream craving, I come here. The flavors change weekly and they never disappoint. So lucky to be fairly close to this gem!

Coffee Social came up as near the hotel, and I liked the idea of a place that encouraged you to come in and work. It's an adorable spot, and I think it has a lot of potential, but it needs work to get there, particularly on the service end. LA has one of the strongest coffee cultures around, so admittedly I'm a bit spoiled, but it seems like more training needs to happen. A few training suggestions for management: 1. Greet your customers like you're happy to see them. In this case, the barista wasn't unfriendly, but I can't say there was much enthusiasm or passion for what they were doing. (Update: Watched another customer come in and come right up to the register--not sure the barista even said hello to her.) 2. Wash your hands. If you're eating food as a barista--or wiping tables or whatever--before you take care of anybody, wash your hands. In this case, the barista was eating their pizza and immediately moved to the register and then to making drinks. Washing your hands is Food Service 101, and I have to say this really put me off. 3. Be proactive rather than reactive. When people leave and their table is dirty (technically, any table that's had a person at it should get a wipe), wipe it down instead of surfing/texting/whatever on your phone. Or when I order food (see #5), maybe anticipate and tell me where the napkins are--they're only obvious from the front. Or if you see someone with a laptop computer, assume they will probably need the Wi-Fi and let them know where the code is. 4. If I ask about a drink, maybe tell me something about it. For example, if I ask about a mocha, five-star service might tell me how many shots are in each size. (There's really only a single shot in a 12 oz mocha?!) 5. Maybe do some tastings of the food you carry so that the baristas know a little about it. My barista had never had the egg salad wrap--which was honest--but they seemed indifferent to my ordering food in general. Another review mentioned that the food items are locally made, which is something to be proud of and amplified to customers. In short, they answered direct questions, but that was about it--reactive, not proactive. Ultimately, I was here to work for a while, so I ordered a 16 oz mocha which ostensibly had 2 shots of espresso (the barista said they could add one) and an egg salad wrap from the case. Unfortunately, serving the mocha in a to-go cup with a sealed lid removes any chance of cool latte art (not sure that this barista would have been up for the challenge anyway). Taste was OK--better than Starbucks--but it felt as if it lacked the coffee notes I get in my mochas back home. The wrap, which came from Ladle of Love, was fine, if a bit heavier than I expected. In short, it's a comfortable and pretty environment with good Wi-Fi, reasonable prices and some outlet access, which makes it good for working. But at least based on my experience, the overall approach to service--at least on the day I was here--is holding it back.
