Updated review (April) Stopped by yesterday and sadly have to remove a star. I drive half an hour just to order the banana brûlée latte and it's perfect, however it's missing the real star of this drink and what makes it stand out from the other cafes - the brûléed banana slice. I asked the barista but she replied they're no longer adding this. Not sure about the other specialty drinks. Otherwise, tasty drinks and pastries as usual. Highly recommend their new refresher! Went here for the first time today. At the register was this lovely girl named Roha. She was so positive, enthusiastic, and most of all, kind. She assured that my coffee was just as I liked, and really went the extra mile. I haven't seen that kind of service in a while, so I wanted to make this review. Y'all, I've never had a smore's latte that actually tasted like a campfire. I was supremely impressed by this. The attention to detail when making this was insane. From toasting the marshmallows to the entire drink feeling like I was in the outdoors, I had no notes for a better drink. The price was well worth the drink and taste. There were crackers that I tasted, had the drizzle on the foam/smores and was delicious all around. I had my doubts from having other smores lattes that missed the mark entirely, but I have to take my hats off to a place like this. Outside of that, I was able to sit down and work in there.Wifi was good and it was pretty easy to grab a table, use the Wifi and just get some work done. Not too busy and a great drink. Formosa landed on my radar after observing it as I was driving through Eastchester; my go-to supermarket and hairdresser are in the vicinity, and as soon as I saw the sign outside that said "coffee" my ears perked up. Since I had just finished my monthly coif, I thought it would be a good idea to walk over and check it out - so off I went. Formosa is nestled among a couple of other businesses on the ground level of a small building. Walking in, I was greeted by a pretty spacious sitting area with tables throughout; the large windows at the front let in a decent amount of light. They did a good job with the decor - it was subtle get enough to make a really comfortable space; they worked with what they had. The menu has a variety of coffee and tea beverages - both standard and Taiwanese. They also have a few pre-packaged snacks and some baked goods. I was just looking for coffee and went with their cold brew with some coconut milk. The coffee was good - they shook the milk into the coffee which made sure it was good and mixed - and it had a bold flavor. Service was good, they were super friendly and my beverage was ready promptly. Overall, I had a great first experience at Formosa - this area needed a coffee shop so I'm glad they opened. I would definitely return to check out more of their menu. read more

Went back for another banana brûlée today--this time it didn't taste the same. It wasn't as flavorful, definitely way less banana flavor. I asked the barista what changed and she said the banana milk is different now. It's changed permanently. Very good coffee, friendly service; I would skip the pastries if we were to return (we tried the everything croissant and the bacon/egg/cheese croissant - even toasted up, they were on the salty side/underwhelming especially for the price ($6.50/pastry)). The coffee itself is where it's at - we loved both the banana brûlée and salted cream iced coffees. Smooth, balanced, and perfectly prepared. Tried this spot since it was in the area and it was pretty good! The ambiance is great, lots of tables for you to come to do work or hang around. There are so many options to choose from, my friends and I got a variety to try. Tiramisu latte was presented beautifully and tasted great, the banana brûlée latte was so yummy, it didn't taste like laffy taffy artificial banana and it blended really well with the espresso. I consider myself a coffee snob. We are visiting New York and I always like to try mom and pop coffee shops. Yelp did not disappoint. Service: 10 out of 10. The man waiting on us was patient and answered our questions. He told us the pistachio latte had homemade pistachio mix. He talked to us about our preferences of coffee choices and how he could make them less sweet. Ambiance: 100% zen feeling. Cute, relaxing and clean. The coffee: 10 out of 10. soooo delicious. I ordered the pistachio iced coffee and can say this was one of the most delicious coffees I've ever had. The lady barista took special care to make sure the visual presentation was beautiful. My first time here I had one of the Fall Season drink The Banana Bruleé Latte Iced and I have tonsay it was so delicious I continued coming back. I enjoyed checking out this new coffee spot. Jason, the owner, was very kind and seemed genuinely to care about his customers. I admit that I had figured there would be some more items that were less traditional coffee shop drinks, but the two I got were good. I particularly liked the shaken yuzu espresso, which was two shots of sweet, lemon-like goodness. The baked goods looked scrumptious, though I did not have any. i'm not a yelp reviewer, but i had such a positive experience that i had to share! i myself am a barista who works at a specialty coffee shop, so i can be picky and snobby when it comes to coffee/ matcha. i was so impressed! my boyfriend got a matcha, which they hand whisk and i got the tiramisu latte, both were AMAZING! whoever is making these recipes is definitely talented, the flavors were balanced and delicious! the girl who helped us was so sweet and patient while we figured out what to get (our first time) and was super flexible too. we're bronx residents so were not typically in the area, but we will certainly be making the drive again. read more

Absolutely loved The Formosa Coffee shop! Headed there on a Saturday afternoon with my wife for a nice coffee shop date, nice chance to sit around and talk while caffeinating ourselves. Solid amount of customers but we were served quickly. The gentleman working the counter (the owner) was very nice and when I asked, he explained what made his coffee different. He explained that his coffee beans are sun dried on the Taiwanese farm and then lightly roasted by him in their shop. My wife selected a shop specialty banana brûlée latte and I went with their Americano. We found a comfortable table to sit at, in a clean, bright and modern cafe. My wife really enjoyed the banana brûlée latte, I tried it and enjoyed it as well. It was impressive that something that sounds overly sweet is actually a really well balanced drink. I absolutely loved the Americano, I drink it without anything added and that allowed the coffee to truly shine. I can see what he meant about the light roast, really a smooth cup of coffee. As we were leaving, the nice woman working behind the counter asked how we liked the coffee and then gave us some ideas for next time. Looking forward to it! read more

Light and airy, this new Eastchester coffee bar has an LA feel. There's a lot of space and you may want to linger. The servers were friendly, another plus. We tried two iced coffees on a hot June day. I'd give the nod to the salted cream over the cappuccino, but I could not discern what made these Taiwanese. The best things were the pastries, a butter crumb scone and a croissant. The latter reminded me of the exalted one from La Cabra, although on the small side. On the way out, I bought a bag of beans - which were quite pricy at $20.00 for eight ounces. I made the coffee using a drip machine and it was very strong, wondering if it was all or part Robusta. read more

I like this hip chic boutique style coffee shop in Scarsdale with its cool L.A. VIBE , that reminds me of my many aimless mornings in southern California. Spacious seating set up , easy to see menu board with list of different hot and cold beverages and pastries for the day .prices are very reasonable , staff are very friendly and I really enjoyed my cappuccino and the almond croissant was a perfect match . So after coming here almost every day for about 6 months now, i can definitely say this is my favorite spot. This shop has a such a great atmosphere, owners and employees. It is always so clean and cozy and very welcoming. One of the few places i've been to where the staff actually takes pride in what they're making and cares about their customers enough to make great connections and engage in conversations with them. For example, Bri knows everyone by name and always goes above to ensure that me and as many other customers are more than comfortable and satisfied. Every drink i've tried has been really good but my favorite is a Salted caramel ColdBrew with the Miso Vanilla Cold foam. Owner Jason and Manager Briana are so personable, you just want them to be your best friends and in a spacious and welcoming storefront! And on top of it all, the coffee is a cut above what you'd expect in Westchester! Bright and flavorful, after trying their cold brew, I had to buy a bag of Jason's medium roast whole beans from Taiwan to take home! Ordered a cold brew which has to honestly be the worst cold brew I have ever had, and I've ordered from Starbucks. It tasted very off and fruity. $6.50 I won't get back mostly because I didn't want to drive back and complain. I want to support this new establishment but please fix this. read more

an incredible addition to the limited but growing coffee scene in lower westchester. The exterior is non-descript but you walk into a very gracious, hip, well designed and comfortable space. Don't waste your time here. The part "owner" Brianna is vile. The male that I've seen before I assume is the other part owner and seems pleasant. Brianna's attitude and overall demeanor is shockingly scary. There's a kiosk for self service. Meaning you can service YOURSELF. Her employee with long hair and 3 inch long nails (not kidding) asked me if I needed help. I said no because I go to the kiosk. You know the one for customers to use. She then slams my drink down. Upon walking out the part "owner" yells "youre welcome, thank you!!" I wasn't sure what I heard but I called back and asked her. She started screaming and said that's what she said and proceeded to ramble on and on about how it's her establishment and I didn't say hi or bye to her or the employee and just used the kiosk. I'm sorry why do I have to acknowledge you? I don't have to go to the cashier if THERE'S a kiosk! She proceeded to scream, this is my place is establishment and youre not nice! lol mam, I us the kiosk I don't need to talk to anyone. The energy of this establishment is off mainly due to workers who hate their jobs. There are better coffee shops and actual baristas in Scarsdale. Go somewhere that cares. The workers just look unkempt and miserable. So disappointing. This woman is a loose cannon beware of her she clearly doesn't know how to run a new business. For someone much less the part owner to scream "you're welcome!!!" Is a different level of crazy.
