I was in the area of Harrison and found this place on yelp. Got a parking spot a few streets down. It was around 3 PM in the afternoon on Thursday that I came into get something to eat The young lady was very friendly. She said I could sit anywhere. Looked over the menu. The set up inside was very nice and retro. I decided to order the cheesesteak which came with a small order of french fries In about 15 minutes, the order came out. Everything looked very good. Nice soft Roll golden french fries I had ordered mushrooms to be added to the cheesesteak Cheese onions mushrooms, peppers. All in good proportion. Steak was very flavorful chopped up nicely. French fries were nice and crispy on the outside. Good potato taste from the inside. The cheesesteak was not greasy like some places I've had cheese steaks. The french fries also were nice and crispy, but not greasy. I appreciated that because every cheese steak sandwich I have eaten . Does has some grease I suppose when it's prepared but some have had too much I was in the mood for a hot dog after having the cheesesteak. So I ordered one with raw onions, relish, light, sauerkraut, and bacon. After about 12 minutes, it came out. It was very impressive looking. Nice toasted roll hotdog split in half just the right proportions of each of the ingredients on the top all the ingredients complimented each other, but didn't take away from the taste of the hotdog itself. I could tell all the toppings on the hot dog . Were of very good quality. The only criticism I would have is that the portion of the steak in the sandwich was not as much as I had expected. Even though the price of everything has gone up for $18, I would've expected a l more meat in the sandwich. But I would go back there again and try one of the cheeseburgers and most likely get the hotdog again along with french fries The service from the young lady was very good read more

The food is amazing tue chili bomb burger although I like my chili spicy is absolutely fantastic and if you add a little hot sauce it will blow your pants off the fries are how you say perfect. In the age where everything revolves around the smashburger, Fat Stu's reminds us that a classic un-smashed burger is still unmatched. Joe and I came here on a suggestion from his sister so we stopped in on a quiet Friday afternoon. Fat Stu's is quaint and homey, with the classic 50s diner-style theme. There was also plenty of fun Westchester memorabilia mixed in with the other fun decorations. & even though small, they still had booster seats which was great because we bought our little guy along with us. I ordered the Swiss onion burger, onion rings and vanilla shake while Joe ordered a classic cheeseburger with American cheese and loaded tater tots, minus the bacon. Guys, the food was GREAT. The burgers were cooked perfectly; no need to request a temp because the size is just perfect and they are served on a perfectly toasted potato bun. Let me say this: the burger was so good that Joe ordered a second one take home for later! My only critiques would be for the tots and my shake. The cheese wasn't completely melted so just a couple more minutes in the oven would've been exactly what they needed. As for the shake, a little less milk. Update: 4-13-25 The owner reached out to apologize for the poor experience, the sign of an owner who cares. He addressed the problem with the food and the service and assured me that all was taken care of. I expect Fat Stu's will be back to its old self in short order! I'll add back a couple of stars since the owner realized what the problem was and addressed it. What more can I ask for! I hope he gets these issues resolved as the restaurant is really cute and a local business. I'll update the stars back to my original 5 after I get back to try the improvements. Feeling the financial pinch lately, we've cooked more at home and not taken out. Saturday afternoon my friend and I were jonesing for a good burger and Fat Stu's seemed like a plan. Btw... I wrote the owner a message a few weeks ago after our very poor experience but unfortunately I never heard back. The interaction between us and the woman working the counter was less than hospitable bordering on rude. We both felt she didn't want to be there nor help us order. Rather than order anything else we stopped at burgers and split an order of wings. There was no one else in the restaurant but the lady seemed busy with nothing. Perhaps a bad day? Who knows, but customers shouldn't be made to feel unwelcome. When we got home to eat is when the real problem started. Both burgers overcooked. Condiments not included. A bone in my burger and rotting lettuce on my friend's burger. A double burger with only one piece of cheese? Sacrilege! Burgers were a mess and mine went right in the garbage. The wings were horrible, so overcooked and hard that the sauce never had a chance to penetrate. Those got tossed too. My friend was disappointed that he vowed never to come back while I felt foolish as I recommended the place. What a waste of time, money and we ended up ordering a pizza. As I try not to write bad reviews, I wrote a DM directly to the owner. We had exchanged messages after my 1st review so I thought that was a great way to let him know what happened. I didn't bother calling the restaurant as the woman who was working seemed like she wouldn't care and she seemed to not think very highly of the owner. I've not heard back, not even an acknowledgement that our experience sucked and the was a bone in the meat. So I'm sorry to say, despite my great 1st impression, and a few good meals afterwards, I cannot in good conscience ever recommend Fat Stu's. Always on the lookout for new lunch places, I spied Fat Stu's while walking by and it fits the bill. The current lunch special $5 burger caught my eye and I grabbed some guys in the office to go try it out. This is a great, freshly made burger! Smashed on the grill, layered with your choice of cheese, all on a potato bun with lettuce and tomato. The tasty patty is crusted on the grill and the melted cheese fills all the nooks & crannies and didn't need any sauce. This is your basic cheeseburger, but there are other combinations with bacon, chili, jalapenos and sauces to try. You can even get an extra patty for +$4. The onion rings are aWeSoMe! The breaded rings are super crispy and come with an aioli dipping sauce. I got a separate order for someone in the office and they stayed crispy after we returned. The fries are alright and you can also get them topped with cheese & chili. On a whim my wife suggested we try this out last night. Was not disappointed! Although the burgers say they're cooked to medium well it was juicy and extremely tasty. Loved the crispy onion rings as well. They came with a garlic aioli which was a nice touch and I asked about the Stu sauce which our server gave me a sample of and that was equally delicious. The food was delicious and the guy serving behind the counter was extremely friendly and personable. My one complaint is that the burgers were too well done from my liking. If you're typically going to serve them that way, that's fine but you should ask how the person wants them cooked.
