Shake Shack delivers a quality burger in a consistent fashion, and was a good and quick option near my hotel. The burger had crispy bacon, SS sauce and a lot of dripping mess. But it was good. The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, exactly how they should be. As a bonus, this SS has plenty of Old Bay and I used it liberally on my fries. When in Baltimore! It's a bit pricey at $14+ for a single burger, fries and a drink. The fries were the most overpriced to me, for a serving that isn't made for two. I've been to Shake Shack in New York, and California so I know what to expect when it comes to the food. I was so disappointed with this place last night, but the employees clearly did not care about the quality of the food. A simple hot dog was burnt, my fries were cold, the only thing that was warm, was my chicken bites. The customer service was terrible the minute I walked in, there was no greeting and the cashier seem to be upset. When I arrived, there were only two customers eating at the restaurant, and yet I waited 30 minutes for my food. While I was waiting, other customers arrived, and they made them wait forever in line, the employees were more busy having a conversation between them, they kept bad mouthing somebody else, I can't stay who but it seemed like they were talking about another employee. If this was my first time ever visiting a shake shack, I would never go back again from this experience, or at least I wont be going back to this specific location. read more

Came in this afternoon after walking along Inner Harbor and looking out from the observation deck of the WTC. When my family came in there was practically no line at all, but all the seats were full. We kept close tabs on the tables and were able to snag a 2-seat table that the four of us sort of just huddled around to eat. While I don't have any complaints about the freshness or quality of the hamburger I ordered, the problems I had were more about the cleanliness of the restaurant (floors and tables were sticky) and how long it took for the food to be ready and the messed up order. Unfortunately, by the time we got our food (about 20 minutes after ordering), the line to order was quite literally out the door and so it didn't warrant having me or my wife stand in line again to get an item that had been omitted added back onto our check. Again, I know this location is likely slammed all the time, and probably has to manage online orders too, but today's experience was a little lackluster. read more

This review is for the manager: I have three fingers up, pick the one in the middle. I'm from out of state and understand Baltimore has different dining rules for COVID-19. This particular Shake Shack is small. So when you have all these stand up tables with signs on them and 4 tables open, it makes me cringe. What's worse? I see two tables with people sitting WITH NO FOOD. Manage this area! The counter people were cool, they said I could drink at one of those stand up tables. While waiting, my food comes to me. This place is so dysfunctional. They've "lost" my order so many times. It's so clear that they prioritize the third-party food deliveries anyone ordering and waiting in-house get their food late. For a chain, I realize that it's worth patronizing and supporting a local biz. This is a quite a spot to grab a quick lunch, snacks, drinks, desserts and a poochini (dog friendly dessert consisted of vanilla ice cream & biscuits). The menu consisted of burgers, hot dogs, sides, milkshakes, ice cream, beer and even wine! However, while I was there visiting in October 2020, I didn't see the alcoholic beverages on the menu! Due to COVID-19 reasons, the sitting area wasn't available and it was a hot day as well. My husband and I decided to bring our 5-year old Siberian Husky to see the city where his pawrents first meet. The shakes are wonderful and their burgers are tasty. And, if you have a gluten allergy they have special buns and separate your food from the rest. The staff are still wearing masks, some better than others. It's optional for customers and the seating can be a bit tight. If you're OK with that then it's a great choice for lunch when visiting the Baltimore Aquarium that's just across the street. In the time of this pandemic and not being able to sit in the restaurant, we still had an amazing experience when we came in to order and take out. When we walked in the door we were welcomed and there was a hand sanitizer station right at the door. There was a separator between us and the register. Who appeared to be the manager welcomed us and made a personal comment that made us feel warm and welcome. He made us feel like we were valued customers and was helpful in getting us select an awesome lunch. They still don't have vegan options, but they did a have a mushroom and cheese sandwich that sounded amazing. The wait was reasonable and you can see everyone working so diligently. It's noticable that the manager here has a great team and is able to really support them in what they are doing. It appeared everyone was super respectable and having even fun behind the counter and enjoying what they do. The sandwiches looked amazing, and the shakes were soooo good. We got a cookies and cream, a chocolate, and a black and white. All were delicious. I had to taste them. The crinkle fries were also sooo good. They were crunchy, tasty, and just enough salt. For years I'd heard endless stories of Shake Shack (SS) vs In-N-Out (INO) as the ultimate in high-end fast food hamburger debate. Unfortunately I had never had a voice in this argument seeing as how there are no SS's out my way. So given the opportunity to finally try SS I jumped at it. So, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the ultimate In-N-Out vs Shake Shack battle: Round 1: Burgers Meat- Ok this is pretty close as both their burger meats are really tasty but SS's burger was just a bit juicier and had a delightful crispy crust on it that gave it a really pleasant mouthfeel. Winner: SS Toppings- SS just gives on measly leaf of lettuce, while INO allows you to have lettuce, tomato and multiple ways to have your onions (i.e. whole raw, chopped grilled, whole grilled) plus you can get peppers and pickles. This is a no-brainer. Yes, I know that SS has 'shrooms and bacon that costs extra―I'm talkin' 'bout free upgrades. Winner: INO Bread- SS's Martin's potato roll® is really tough to beat, even tho I think INO's bun is solid. The potato roll is soft, sweet and holds up well to the juicy burger. However, we have to consider INO has a lettuce-wrap (aka protein-style™) and the often unheard of tomato-wrap! Jesus, this is close... Winner: purist sake I'll go with SS. Round 2: Fries Standard fries- It's no secret I'm not a fan of INO's fries and that crinkle-cut fries make my eyes roll into the back of my had so this is an easy one. Winner: SS by a landslide. Not-so standard fries- As far as I know SS only offers up cheese fries, and I found them a bit "gloppy" despite my love of Whiz. INO's cheese fries aren't that great, but they do have Animal-style fries which are fantastic, and you can also add peppers too! Winner: INO Round 3: Shakes INO's shakes are just ok; they're a bit too airy and frothy―and plus they use some weird mix to make them. SS's are legit real ice cream shakes. Nothing wrong with that. Winner: SS Round 4: Value INO has always had really strong value, as this meal for two would've cost less than $20; here at SS it cost over $35. Winner: INO Round 5: Quality Hard to beat INO's quality as everything―except their shakes― is made fresh and in-house. It's obvious SS's fries are prefrozen but regardless they're both still head and shoulders above the rest. Winner: draw Round 6: Customer Service SS's counter people were a bit friendlier than your avg "Charm City" cashiers, and their manager did come out to check on us. But, honestly, no one beats INO's customer service in this industry. Consistently great and friendly. Winner: INO Round 7: Dining exp They both suck at lunchtime. Super busy and hard to find a table to eat at times. We were stalking several people trying to get a table to ourselves at SS but settled on the communal dining area. Winner: draw Hmm... looking at the numbers it's actually a tie! So I'm going to have to be the arbiter by using my prodigious gut and―as much as it pains me as a Cali boy―I think I'd pick SS because the tiebreaker is their overall taste and flavor was far superior. Good food, outstanding staff. This is a very clean, well managed location. My cashier, Paul, was very friendly while I was being indecisive and made a delicious recommendation. He was polite, articulate, and thorough as a server. You can see the staff making the food in the back, so it feels good to know they're making exactly what you expect with normal ingredients. There is lots of room for seating inside and all the tables seemed clean. I got a cookie butter milkshake and it was pretty good. I was worried that it would be too plain and vanilla but it definitely had a strong cookie butter taste and I liked it a lot. Overall, the food is good (but not to die for) but the service is excellent. I would come back here solely for the good service! read more

I gotta say... I was impressed. The food (burger, fries and shake) was outstanding. For me, part of the reason the burger is so good is because they use Martin's Potato Roll which is what I use at home. Moist and never soggy. Also, the meat was nice and crispy a bit around the edges--yummmm. Crinkle-cut fries were salted perfectly but nothing amazing. However, WAY better than In-N-Out's fries. (That's not saying much though.) Their shakes are hand-spun and delicious. Our service was friendly and above average. The manager went around and asked how everything was and if we needed anything. Upon getting to shake shack. Before I got in the door I was being shaken down by two junkies with needle marks all over their arms right outside the door. Had to use my British language "two words" on them. Upon entering. No greeting or anything. Overall place was somewhat clean. Food on various places on the floor. Ordering process is fairly simple and streamlined. Cashier was friendly. They give you a pager that vibrates when your order is ready. Waited like 10min then the pager went off. But when I went to the counter the order still wasn't ready. ???? 5min later. It was ready. Upon getting the food I noticed the weirdest thing. There were two MALE cashiers hugging in a very intimate way right at the register. Everyone is turning around like what the heck is going on. I just walked out with my food. Upon getting the food home. The first thing I noticed is the fries are a complete rip-off for $4. Also the burger is nowhere near worth $10 compared to other burger places. The cheese was so thick I couldn't even pour it holding the entire cup upside down. It was way too thick and wasn't even warm or hot. Also ordered a well-done burger but still got pink in the center. Also the patties are slim compared to other places and loaded with grease. Overall not a bad place. But dealing with the junkies right outside before you even get in the place and the food not being that good and what I ordered also the cheese fries being a complete rip-off. After a long day, my friend and I had huge cravings for burgers, so we decided to come to Shake Shack. Unfortunately, we were disappointed, to say the least. Chicken n shack: The chicken was tender on the inside, but it wasn't crisp and the bun tasted stale. After taking a bite, I immediately put my sandwich down and decided that I'd take Chick-fil-a's chicken sandwich over Shake Shack any day. Fries: The fries were not crispy, cold in the middle, and a bit moist. The cheese sauce was overly thick and tasted fake like plastic. I've always heard great things about Shake Shack but I don't eat beef. I decided to stop in after visiting the National Aquarium in the middle of the day on a Saturday. They were appropriately staffed-while the dining area was pretty full, the lines to place your order and then wait for your food were short. If anyone knows me I resented Shake Shack for a while. I had bad experience with the one in downtown Manhattan and haven't been back. During my trip to Baltimore I fell upon the restaurant with limited options and starving like a hostage. I went with the new nuggets, a Shack burger and regular fries. It came out to 12 something which is fair. Some key highlights though. Old Bay container were strategically placed every, hmmm catered to the geographic location. I saw a few ppl sprinkle a bit on their fries and decided to do the same. They also advertise a rainbow birthday cake milkshake to celebrate Pride Month. Wow! Now that is progressive. During my very long wait for my food, one of the staff asked if i needed a cup of water while I wait in the most Chickfila esque way. This place is dope. When I finally got my food and went to my hotel (it travelled well.) I dug in and was transfer it tasted better than what I remembered. I had In-n-Out, Five Guys, Whataburger, etc but this burger is at another level. It is the epitome of high end fast food. With less of the greasy guilty. I would all say the nuggets were an afterthought. read more

The only issue is with their strawberry shakes...PUT twice as many strawberries in when you make them. Both mine were served looking like vanilla shake with a drop of strawberry. Even though Shake Shack is a chain and gets a lot of hype, it is actually pretty damn delicious and worth the hype. The food is good quality, consistent, and generally quick to come out,even when the restaurant is slammed. Two things though: 1) Does anyone ever pay attention to the tables? They say they are made from recycled bowling alley lanes. 2) If you order the Shackmeister beer, be prepared to have a generally watery beer that is low on flavor. We came here on an off hour for dinner so it was pretty quiet. I can imagine it gets crowded during lunch. Even though we were a big group but we all got our food in under ten minutes. What really set the service apart was that the manager came by our table to check-in and see how we were doing/ ask if we were local. I've been to quiet a few Shake Shacks and that was for sure a pleasant first. It's a chain so it's your standard Shake Shack food and decor. Some people in my group had never been and said they especially enjoyed the burger. My go to is the hotdog because I love how they cut it in half and char it. Fries are solid. Definitely better than In-n-Out (sorry). Bathrooms require a code and were especially clean. I'm not sure what the parking situation is but I'd definitely come here if you are looking for a quick bite. read more

It's a great thing I don't live too close to Shake Shack, because I could see myself becoming an addict for their burgers. The SMOKE SHACK BURGER FOR THE WIN, by the way. It was delicious, cooked perfectly, and I loved the peppers. We ordered some chicken tender/nuggets for the table to try as well, and they ended up being a gigantic hit. The chicken was unexpectedly very, very good. We tried regular fries, and an order of bacon cheese fries. Both delicious, and would order them either way again. The location itself is pretty cool. Directly across from the harbor, which gave us the opportunity to walk off some of those millions of calories just Consumed at Shake Shack. Updated 05/13/2019: I've got to be honest & say that i was NOT impressed by the size of the shakes for the cost. At $5.29, their "large" shake was about 2/3 the size of their large iced tea. Which by the way we found out, their regular drinks are free refills, which was nice. Their bathrooms are on lock-down, & you need to purchase something in order to use them, because your bathroom code is on your receipt. So don't throw out your receipt if you plan on going potty! Not really someplace that we would go again for shakes. Especially since there are only 5 or 6 choices for your shake. You would think that a place called "Shake Shack" would have more shake options. Fast friendly service. Came with out of town family after visiting the aquarium. Great place for my niece and nephew to get a plain burger and adults to get fancy adult burgers. Shakes are great. We tried the black sesame shake today, and it reminded us if asian desserts you get back in Taiwan! Yums! The kids ate everything we put in front of them, too. Space also allowed us to fit the stroller for my almost 3 month old with room to spare. He enjoyed looking around and the windows have a share that blocked the bright sunlight so it was comfortable for all. The burgers are always fresh. The shroom burger is really good, but you want you really est. It when it's hot and fresh or the cheese in the middle gets a bit rubbery. Overall a great experience. Came here during my lunch break in performing my civic duty (A.K.A jury duty). Shake Shack was short seven minute walk away. As I arrived in the midst of the afternoon lunch crowd, I encountered a line, but it moved along rather quickly. In that time, I had to quickly review the menu and decide what to order. Since it was cold outside, I decided to nix the shake (will provide a review on that later) and order the single "Shakeburger" and fries with cheese and a ginger blood orange lemonade. The staff were pleasant. The price was a bit steep ($13.71 of my allotted $15 jury duty fee). The place was packed with no seating in site. I was given a pager, which went off once my order was ready. (btw, in order to use the restroom, there is a code printed at the bottom of your receipt, hence it's only for the use of paying customers, which I completely understand). Once I received my order and doused the fries with a copious amount of Old Bay, I was on my way to find a chill out spot that was NOT the juror waiting room. I lucked up on a bench in the Galleria (another btw...the food court that was once located at the top is gone!) and proceeded to each my lunch. The burger and fries were nothing to write home about, just average. I really could have went to the Chik-Fil-A next door and been equally pleased and pissed off at their steep prices as well. The blood orange ginger lemonade had a nice flavor though. Anywhoo, my experience was average, but because I didn't get a shake at the Shake Shack, I will come back and revise my review. This is the closest Shake Shack to me but I've only done take out here because parking is so difficult! (I double-park illegally while my kid runs in to grab our pick-up order...) So far, everything has been fine. Service is efficient. Our orders are ready when or even before Shake Shack says they'll be ready. The orders are correct.
