Fun Facts: Shake Shack started in Madison Square Park in Manhattan as a hotdog cart. To support the first art installation for Madison Square Park Conservancy. And for 3 summers in a row, they had customers lined up. There are 9 Shake Shacks in Maryland. Shake Shack Inner Harbor is located on the corner of Commerce St. and E Pratt St. I've walked past this a few times before. I stopped by on a weeknight while in the area to get some food to take home, around 940pm on a Friday night. It was super busy, and a lot of people were in the restaurant dining in. There are a few kiosk touch screens on the counter where you can order your food. You pick a number to attach to your order and that's what they call out when your food is ready. There are a lot of tables inside the restaurant to sit and dine at or to wait for take-out orders. It's been a while since I've been to a Shake Shack. The last time had to have been 1am in Las Vegas by the NYNY hotel (side note, that location is open until the early morning hours if you ever need food late). As I was glancing at the menu the limited time only," The Big Shack" burger definitely caught my eye. It looked as perfect as a burger should be! Described as "Two 1/4lb Angus Beef patties, secret sauce, green leaf lettuce, American cheese, pickles, tomatoes, and onions on a three-layer toasted potato bun Potato Bun." Yep, definitely had to get that. And this burger tasted as good as it looks! Bacon Cheese Fries, "crispy, crinkle cut fries topped with melted cheddar and American cheese and applewood-smoked bacon". Yums, yes please! The fries were very crispy. I also saw that they have a limited time only, Popping Boba for an upcharge, I definitely wanted to try that. I got the "Pomegranate Sweet Basil Lemonade: Pomegranate, basil, and lemongrass mixed with our Shack-made lemonade" with the "Mini Raspberry Popping Boba". I got the Frozen Custard with double scoop, 1 in Vanilla and 1 in Chocolate. The frozen custard is made in house every day with milk and eggs. It's very rich and sweet. I preferred the chocolate flavor over the vanilla as the egg flavor was hidden within better and not as standout. It didn't take too long until my food was ready. I did a quick check over all the items to make sure they didn't miss anything (highly recommended to check your orders anywhere, any time, and for any item LOL). After drinking some of my drink, I realized the Mini Raspberry Popping Boba I had paid extra for were not in sight. I went back to the counter and asked about this. A supervising worker asked another employee to make me a new drink with the Popping Boba. And told me to throw my current drink out. I appreciated how fast the problem was fixed. It wasn't a big deal at all and because of how busy the restaurant was, I can see mistakes happening. One con is that all the items at Shake Shack are ordered ala carte, since they don't have combo meals. Sooo, it can get very expensive, even for just 1 person. read more

As an aside, if you can't staff your place well enough to keep your bathroom unlocked maybe you are just a cheap company. Anyway, the food. I had this kimchi chicken sandwich and some crinkle fries. The others had your basic burgers. Somehow this was all $50. The chicken was just OK. It lacked any spice at all. The burgers were about like what I'd get at a Wendy's. After a family outing to the National Aquarium I decided to treat my kids to Shake Shack for dinner. First time at this location but, I have been to a few others. We were able to order on the kiosk, received a number then we sat at the table while waiting for our food. The dining room was clean. The manager was seated in the dining room. Our food came out pretty quickly. The burgers and milkshakes were good especially my banana pudding milkshake with the good crunchiness of the cookies throughout......Yummy Great experience. Hubby and I came here for the first time for lunch on a weekend. We ordered their chicken avocado bacon burger, smoke shack burger, 2 fries (1 w/truffle dipping sauce and their shake shack dipping since), n cookies n cream shake. Total came out to approximately $38. What's hot - Location. Very conveniently located across the street from the aquarium. There are many food options located in this area and its within walking distance from many tourist interests. - Quality and cost. Good, decent, reliable. Good value for money. My husband could taste the spiciness from the peppers in his burger, which he liked. - Service. You order from their kiosk. You're provided a number that you take to your table (if you're eating in), and they bring you the order. If you order takeaway, they prepare your order in a bag and call your number. The staffer that brought us our food also asked us if there's anything else we needed, like sauces or whatnot. She also brought us some napkins, as the tables do not have napkins dispensers. She also took away our trays and containers after we finished eating. They appear to do a good job handling high turnover. Simple and straightforward. - Layout. It's a decent space with a fair amount of booths and some high tables and chairs. What's not - Quality. It's good, but not the best I've had. For example, I would've preferred to have just a grilled chicken breast for the sandwich, rather than a fried chicken breast. The fried chicken breast had a bit too much batter. Additionally, I didn't taste much of a difference of their truffle dip. Their shake shack sauce is essentially ketchup mixed with mayo. - Bathrooms. You can only access their bathrooms by entering a code from your receipt. On the one hand, it's understandable, especially given their location is centrally located in a very busy area. They want to reduce the number of random people using their restrooms, especially those who are not paying customers. On the other hand, for those who are paying customers, it's a lot to keep track of. I tried to use the restroom as my husband was waiting in line to put in our order, so I had no receipt with a code. I explained this to one of their staffers, so she pointed me to their pick up counter, where there were receipts. She instructed me to find a code in that pile and use that. I appreciate the helpfulness of the staffer, but the simple act of going to the bathroom shouldn't be so complicated. - Layout. If you come here with more than 6 people, which our group was, it's going to be very difficult to find space. Our group was 4 adults and 2 kids, so fortunately, we were all able to squeeze into one booth. Just be prepared this location does not cater to large groups. Be prepared to order takeaway if your group is big. Final answer Would be willing to come back, but not a first choice. read more

Bad--the second star is because it was edible, ready when I got there, and most of the order was correct (they forgot my shack sauce on the side). The burger patties were too greasy, poorly formed with a hole in the middle, overdone (I did not ask for well done), and tasteless compared to other Shake Shack burgers I've had. One burger ordered with only onions had very few onions. Several of my onion rings were made with the first few layers of the onion skin so were stringy and inedible. Weirdly, my order was ready two minutes after I placed it online, meaning when I got there and got home it was cold--not the biggest complaint bc that's just takeout sometimes but I have to think it was done too quickly and that's why the food was not good. It was pretty busy, and this location does not have a pick up area, so it took several minutes to get the employees attention. After waiting over 40min, our sandwiches and fries were cold and poorly made. For a family of 4 it cost us over $80 for 4 sandwiches and 2 fries with drinks. The avocado sandwiches each had a single wedge of avocado and those with bacon had 1/2 a strip of bacon. The truffle fries sauce was ok, I'm sure it would have been better with hot food. I think the Wendy's dollar menu would have been better and more fulfilling. I've been to shake shacks before but this was a total disappointment. The staff lacked any urgency despite having at least 20+ orders sitting in their queue. It appears they did give preference to the nonstop door dashers coming in to get their orders while those of us who were actually waiting for our own food were not a consideration. The cleanliness level was lacking and the homeless man who was sleeping in the single stall restroom really added a nice touch for our confidence in the establishment. My second time ever at a Shake Shack. Ordering online for pick up was easy. The Inner Harbor location was pretty clean inside and had a condiment station. I stood in the pick up area with another customer. The staff were busy in the prep/kitchen area and no one came over for a few min. When one did, I provided my name and she handed me my order from the shelf. She started going off in a rude manner (mumbling to herself and not really to me but about me..) how I should have said something instead of standing there when my order had been ready. I didn't say anything and just left. Not the friendliest or helpful staff from my experience here. The Chicken Shack sandwich was quite measly and tasted ok to me. While visiting The Port Discovery Children's Museum, it was lunch time and here we are. Placed our order with the cashier. She was friendly and patient. There are also self service ordering screens. The line moved smoothly, and it was quite busy the day we visited. They do a great job keeping things clean around the dinning area. Restrooms are clean enough. Water, napkins, plastic silverware, and condiments were within reach. We are big Shake Shack fans and this location did not disappoint. Their burgers and hot dogs are made with quality ingredients and you can taste the difference. Nothing is overly salty, greasy, or heavy. It's all seasoned perfectly! You can't go wrong with their shakes. They are creamy, smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Another win! This is a great option to have, while you are in the Inner Harbor area. read more

Shack Shake is my favorite local burger joint! This location only offered ordering through a touch screen though. Burgers were not well done, even though I think that this is the standard and there was no way to select how you wanted your burger prepared on the screen and no employees were near the ordering stations. Fries were crispy and delicious, the hot dog is now one of my favorite choices, and the custard is just so. good. I'd recommend a shake over scoops of custard though because you get much more for your money. read more

Shake Shack is an amazing national/regional chain. I would give five stars to both the overall chain as well as this particular location. In terms of the overall chain, I would put this in the top tier of fast food burgers. They are certainly on par with other standards such as Whataburger and In-N-Out Burger and the like. They of course have options beyond just standard hamburgers and cheeseburgers, including unique takes such as their shroom burger and hotdog options. The french fries are amazing, as are all the sandwiches. My particular favorites are the chicken shack and the shack burger. Having said that you can't go wrong with any of the selections, and the shroomburger in particular is a unique option worth trying if you're feeling adventurous. They also serve alcohol at this location! This particular location is situated in the heart of downtown and is easily accessible if you are spending the day around the inner harbor. Parking is a bit difficult, although there is a parking lot across the street that usually has availability if you're willing to pay for parking. Be careful... you will see many people parking illegally on Commerce Street... but eventually a parking cop will ticket you. The staff are friendly and efficient and very professional. The only negative aspect of this particular location is that there are always people outside begging for money, but you can't really avoid that in downtown Baltimore. read more

After walking around inner harbor we needed a place to eat so we stopped in to shake shack since it had a shorter line than Chick-fil-A. I made my order and then we waited for about an eternity for our food to come out. My bad for not checking my receipt, but one of our meals didn't make it on the order and by the time we realized it when we picked up our food the line was so long we would have been waiting forever to get our meal, so instead one of us went hungry. Maybe it would be helpful to have the cashier read the order back to the guest to be sure everything is accounted for. Went here twice over the course of this weekend due to other eateries being packed. There were quite a few customers in Shake Shack but not as many. I placed my order and began observing. The kitchen staff was extremely non chalant, having side conversations, laughing and joking hugging and just generally not moving orders forward with any sense of urgency. AirPods in ears, pants hanging. It just didn't appear that anyone was in charge. I ordered the Black Truffle Burger and I was not impressed. I got the single but the single in the picture looks different from the actual item. My burger was the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger for $12! Outrageous! And the kitchen staff basically threw it together. I showed it to someone at the front who just said it's a single. Wow... look at the pics. I don't know who I need to call but this is utter nonsense. Ate here for dinner around 6pm by myself. It is after Thanksgiving so it is very slow. Restaurant is clean inside and out. Have had much contact with staff as I entered my order on the kiosk at the front counter which to me was very simple to use. Food arrived hot and fresh and fairly quickly. Prices are slightly higher than I expected but not too bad. I would however have expected to have a little more lettuce and tomatoes. The fries were a large portion and fresh. Ordered a milkshake after my meal, it was just mixed chocolate ice-cream, and not mixed well. Would not buy anymore shakes here. I still enjoyed my food and would consider returning. read more

Shake Shack delivery is timely, not over priced, and gets that burger to you while it's still delicious. The burger is a classic. Probably my favorite secret sauce of all time too. The shroom burger is less dangerous when ordered for delivery! No scalded tongues from not being able to wait for the cheese to cool! The chicken shack, definitely avoid the gochujang which is overly sweet and has a strange color. The regular chicken shack is a little lacking in flavor but has good crunch (even after delivery). I just could not with this restaurant. Almost every part of our order was wrong, it was just bizarre. Iced tea had no ice, ranch fries came with no ranch, but the burgers were the biggest problem. I had ordered one with avocado and the avocado was totally rotten, in such a glaring way I wasn't able to trust the rest of the order to be safe. My friend's burger was supposed to be GF/lettuce wrap but it was not and had battered ingredients in it despite us asking for it to not. We did have a shake that was good, and I ordered chicken pieces but I was so sketched out that I couldn't eat them. The bathroom was a disaster, too. It's why I'm going to the one I'm Union Station on my lunch break this week. However, be sure to stand at the counter while waiting for your order. That day, it was a petite young lady trying her best to yell out the names on the orders as they were ready. But her voice only carried so much over music in a full restaurant of chatting customers.
