Waited 30 minutes, when we asked the cashier where our food was she claimed she didn't know what they were doing. The line staff was incredibly rude telling us to get back in line and start over even though they forgot to make the order. I've been to a lot of Potbelly's in my time and this was an atypical visit, simply because I was in a Potbelly's near the courthouse. Most eateries near the courthouse have closed down so Potbelly's was PACKED. It took the better part of my jury duty selection lunch to procure food. Also, I was pretty disappointed to see there was no fountain machine, and all the carbonated drinks were almost $3.50. That's highway robbery in a food dessert, not cool. Otherwise, I placed an order for a pick 2 - I ordered a hammie, no cheese and broccoli cheddar soup, plus purchased an overpriced Coke Zero. The food was prepared quickly by the production line of Potbelly employees, and payment was easy. I sat in the venue to quickly eat before heading back to the courthouse. I was pleased to find relatively clean tables and I used the restroom which was also very clean. I'd eat here again next time I have jury duty selection or serve on a jury. I didn't experience my idea of a quality customer service at this location. Nestled in the heart of downtown Baltimore As I was looking at the menu I started to order at the wrong end of the store and was rudely corrected with an attitude by an employee who must have assumed that I should be knowledgeable of where I should go. I proceeded to place my order and realized when I saw it being made that I didn't order the correct item. The bottom like is...I was refused the option of paying for meat to be added. I was refused the courtesy of just adding the meat and was told by 3 different people who were called the register that I could not be helped. That was NOT what I expected especially since I was offering to pay for something to added only to be told that "The system would allow us to do that!" I get that but what about YOUR HANDS didn't allow you to do it? What about your CUSTOMER CENTRIC attitude didn't allow you to do it? I REALLY enjoyed the appetizers but both the pastas and steak was just ok. To be a fine dining establishment, I expect to be wowed by each course. Complimentary valet is a nice plus. I'd recommend the zucchini beignets (which weren't actually beignets but tasted great and fried perfectly), the lobster curry soup, and the fried oysters. This is really decent sandwich shop with a variety of sandwiches to choose from. I decided to give this place a try since I've been seeing this place a try since I've been seeing it from my window in the hotel. The customer line moves at a pretty fast rate there were 4 employees behind the counter at the time I was there. I ordered the original Mama's Meatball sandwich and Jalapeno chips. I like how the sandwiches are toasted well and not just a super light toasting. Love that crunch. When you are near the end of the line, they pull your sandwich out of the toaster and ask what you would other additional toppings you'd like to add. The meatball sandwich was delicious. I would definitely come here again since it's across the street from the hotel where I stay when I'm in Baltimore. read more

This Potbelly is BAD. It's sad because it's so close to City Hall. Upon entering you're not greeted or anything. In fact there was one employee walking out happy she didn't have to work today. The guy came from out the back after like a min and said "Do you know what you want" and I ordered. Unlike other places. They don't have a toaster over at this location. We had just arrived in Baltimore and we were looking for something to eat after the 9 hour flight. This place was across the street from our hotel so a couple of us came in here while the others checked in to the hotel. We ordered three toasted sandwiches, and all three of them were burnt. I ordered the Sausage, Egg, and Cheddar sandwich on square bread ($3.10). It's pretty comparable to the breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks, but maybe slightly bigger. Service could definitely be better. I don't know if it's because it's too early in the morning (even though it was like 10:30/11), or if that's just how they are, but the people working behind the counter didn't seem like they wanted to help us with our order. It was our first time trying out Potbelly, so we were staring at the menu for a while trying to decide what to eat, but the people working there seemed impatient like they wanted us to hurry up and make a decision already. I wouldn't go out of my way to get food from here. It's just one of those places that you would go to if you're just walking around looking for somewhere to eat. I feel bad leaving a negative review, as the baker that came from the back was very kind. She offered us extra pastries as they were about to close up. I thanked her multiple times as it was very sweet of her. I asked her to take off the oatmeal raisin because we wouldn't eat it and I didn't want to waste it. There was a bit of a language barrier so the French woman (who I'm assuming is the owner) switched places with her. This negative review is solely about her. She was extremely rude and immediately stated "you gave them extra and they still complain? I wouldn't have given them anything!" I apologized for the misunderstanding because the previous lady had tried very hard to help us but she just didn't understand what I was saying. The owner passive aggressively dismissed us and walked away. At this point my friend and I leave confused about the interaction. When going to downtown Baltimore, I look for something quick to grab so I can go back to a meeting. Potbelly is a quick sandwich shop and they are delicious. You can choose multigrain bread, flatbread or regular bread then tell them what type of sandwich you want and any add-ons, such as mushrooms, avocado, etc. They toast it to melt the cheese and then ask if you want something different than the toppings that come it. The hot peppers they use aren't too hot but are quite a nice additional flavor to the sandwich. After taking a bite you will know their bread compliments the meat quite nicely and will devour the whole thing. read more

I ordered half A Wreck sandwich and a cup of Cream of Broccoli soup after asking which was the most popular soup. Hi everyone it's been awhile but now am back. So potbelly is one place that am truly happy to come into. I only do th3 north Charles street location so this is only for this one. Moving forward it's always clean so that helps. If you come before 9am it's better line wise after that based on what I've seen. The surrounding work offices well converge at one time. So pick your poison. Next location wise it's either this or dunk in donuts and so that by itself is a hit to the which side are you on. Health or unhealthy. I love the giant jar of pickles I would take the whole thing home but.....not sure they'd be okay with that. I mean there a dollar each. I'm in Baltimore for a training, went to Potbelly's for lunch. My napkin fell off the table and when I went to pick it up and saw a dead ROACH right next to it, directly under the table. I took a picture and as much as I was disgusted, I did not make a fuss because it was the middle of lunch rush and didn't want to gross out everyone. I instead discreetly showed an employee. She said nothing to me. It looked like she went to tell another employee about it. I waited around for a bit to see if ANYONE would take care of it, or say ANYTHING to me about it. Nope. Being stuck for jury duty at the courthouse, I was forced to find a lunch place. I have been to Potbelly's only once before and liked the sandwich better than say, Subway or Quiznos. Anyways, I didn't get anything too crazy...it was just an italian cold cut kind of day. The sandwich was good enough, but what was so awful was the customer service and the dirty store. I had communication between 3 employees, and not one of them were even remotely pleasant. In fact, the female employee who collected my money was downright rude. What the hell ever happened to customer service? How about something as simple as saying hi, or maybe just a smile? I'm afraid these atributes are no longer being emphasized, and that is too bad. Went here with our family of 5 to grab dinner before the Circus. We weren't greeted, when we went to place our order it was way too much of a bother for the employees. Okay i guess I didn't mind the sub role I thought -- too early to ask her to communicate respectfully plus why can;t i have it on flat bread. Then -- me: May I use the ladies room? Her: you can use the men's room. Now shout out to my gay, bi and trans fam but there is no mistaking I am a 56 year old woman who it would not be surprising to see me go into a ladies room. Me: I can't use the ladies room? Her: No -- with no explanation but gave me the code to the mens room. I didn't mind but was puzzled until I went back there and saw the out of order sign on the ladies room door. And the mens room was dirty btw. In front of the store is a major stop for many bus routes; so the corner stays busy with all types of people (smokers, homeless, people leaving the courthouse, rowdy kids, etc.). Every person on the staff is a pleasure - friendly, professional and efficient (even at the busiest of times). I go to Potbelly every once in a while, usually the one up at JHU, but I went to the Charles/Baltimore St one this time. Never again! I ordered their soup/sandwich deal. They were clearly understaffed on a busy lunchtime, but that is no excuse for not having a person at the vegetable area and then having the cashier yell at me and a few other people that we were not allowed to come to the cash register without our sandwiches. She actually told each of us to go get back in line and not to come back until we had our sandwiches. Then, after she left the cash register to make the sandwiches, she asked me if it was my first time at Potbelly. Since it was my first time at this particular one, I said, "yes," expecting to get a little sympathy. Instead of some explanation as to their ordering system (and at which point, I was at the cash register for the second time-now armed with my sandwich- although I still hadn't received my soup), she then proceeded to berate me as to how I didn't do it right and should have ordered my bread, then my veggies, and then should not have come to her cash register until I had my sandwich, at which point, I had to ask her (for the third time) how to get my soup.
