This Subway happens to be in my neighborhood. My neighborhood happens to be a great place to Live. Nice restaurants, beautiful area and a college, elementary & nursery school are right here - all walking distances. A Subway should really THRIVE in this 'hood. I admit, I never gave this place any thought, tho. It's very tiny looking, from the exterior. Recently, I decided to give them a try. Mistake #1. Here's my overall takeaway... KEEP DRIVING, DO NOT STOP ON GO, STARVE!!! Trust me... all of these suggestions are better than the disgusting treatment you get in this establishment. 1st, I am soooo happy there are reviews for this place. I thought I'd Now, I don't know who this cantankerous shrew is behind the ultra thick bullet proof glass, but SHE and she ALONE is the reason this establishment will NEVER get a dime from me. Allow me to break it down for y'all... I approach the door and it's locked. Upon reading other reviews, I NOW know that it's a 'buzz in' situation. There might be a sign explaining that but at night, it's not visible. Be the 1st (that's how inconsequential this spot is). As always, the place was empty (I pass it every day). There was one customer and he heard me pull the door and he came and let me in. Upon entering, there is a woman behind the Uber thick bullet proof glass. I say 'hello'. She looked right at me, rolled her eyes and walked down to the Fixins area. I look at the menu. She asks what I want. I tell her I'm still deciding. This is where the 'attitude' begins. She proceeds to take out bread (I never said anything about what I wanted NOR the flavor of bread). Actually I wanted a salad. I tell her and she's so annoyed that I want a salad. It was obvious. She says, 'are you sure u didn't want a sandwich? You really want a salad'? Ummmm WHAT?!?! 'Yes. A salad'. She picks up the salad container and asks what I want. I start with spinach, onions... then I remember that the salads are supposed to be made in those huge bowls and chopped w/ that cool blade. I politely ask, 'Will you be chopping this salad? I'm just curious'. At this point, this harpy went from zero to DEFCON ONE... out of nowhere. I mean, I know I was very polite bc I felt her tension. Anyway, she proceeds to shrill, squawking, 'how tha hell am I supposed to know you want it chopped'?!?!! Ummmmm again ma'am... WHAAAAT?!? I respond with, 'well that's how the salads are made. I was wondering why you didn't start with the bowl. Well that must have been her 'trIgger' bc she went ballistic and proceeded to just yell at me... What Tha F@#%?!? They advertised they had the foot-long cookies and the lady informed us they hadn't gotten them even though it's been weeks since the ad has been up. No one came to the door.. we waited in the cold and were about to leave then a woman came to let us in. She saw us waiting with our child and continued to make us wait. 2- the business hours say it closes at 9pm. Even on Yelp the store hours are til 9pm. As soon as we walked it (4:59) the rude woman says, we are already closed! Then I don't know why she even let us in! I've been disappointed by this location too many times! I came here for lunch. It's an average location fine for a quick easy meal. I paid for part of my meal for myself and one other person (2 footlongs discounted at $5 each, 2 cookies, 2 bottles sodas) with a coupon over mobile app. I arrive to pick it up, the employee asked if I paid for the drinks I respond "yes, I used a coupon". I proceed to walk out, the employee runs out after me yelling that I didn't pay for the drinks and need to either leave them or pay for them again at the register. I show her on my phone the receipt of how everything is accounted and paid for. She then insist that this and I am incorrect because it shows up differently on her end; therefore I must be trying to cheat her and steal. She does not believe me and then yanks the two drinks out of my hands saying "you didn't pay for this, you're stealing. Never come back again" I honestly think she does not understand how the pricing and discounting worked based off this experience and from other reviews. I reviewed my receipt and the one printed at the store. They both total to the same price, only difference is that her's automatically discounts prices resulting in lower prices while mine shows original prices for everything but still includes discounting of items. I was so taken about by her disgusting attitude, and accusations that it didn't even register to me until I got home that she was not wearing a mask. How does this woman still work here? The lady in there just now took 15 min making one sub for someone while gossiping with another lady while I waited service. I decided to add ice to my cup while I wait. She told me I must leave the store for stealing ice (yup frozen water). I'm like I'm waiting for you to finish I can pay for my ice too. She said I must leave. It was a snow day so the place was pretty slow and the woman working was upset that I distracted her TV watching. I order a salad with Chicken and Bacon it took around 20 questions for some reason. They generally chop the salad in a bowl and I ask about it and she said they don't do that. I pressed and she went to the back and got the bowl and knife device but I guess it has to be cleaned now or something. Finally I said I only want a cup of water to drink and she said the machine doesn't do that. I walked over to the fountain drink machine and pressed the water button. Then she went to the back and grabbed a solo cup and handed it to me with my salad. Signed up just to write this review. The woman behind the counter sneezed or coughed over my sandwich while preparing it (i was looking at my phone, not her so i don't know which). This was before she put it in the oven and i mocrowaved it at home for 4 min to kill all the germs she may have gotten on it, but not one word was said to me by her concerning this matter, and i was too dumbfounded by her stupidity to say anything to her. Avoid this dump. UPDATE: so i emailed subway corporate about this and got a call from the owner of this establishment. He immediately denied it by saying he checked the camera and no one could have sneezed on my food at that time (how he can tell who sneezes when with those cameras is beyond me). I was irritated with his accusatory tone and had things to do so I ended the conversation. When he called again i let it go to voicemail. The owner left a message accusing me of making it up and ended it with saying "if you don't want to be here, don't come". The worst subway I've ever been to. The door is locked before the time it actually closes and they lady that works there makes her own hours. If she doesn't want to open the door (the door has a bell) she won't. She has a very nasty attitude and after encountering her, I wouldn't trust her to fix my food. I was in there once when a customer had to ask the lady to change her gloves before preparing her sandwich and she got upset. And yes, you can barely hear a dam thing through that think plexiglass. The lady has a 'short temper' too esp with the kids from the school near by...once she short changed a little kid of 10 cent and when she asked for the correct change the women threw the Dime towards the kid. This is probably the worst Subway in the entire world. The one employee has very bad English, racist, never listen to the customers, and always charges more than you ordered. I bought 2 6-inches subways and 2 Sodas, and the Middle East employee told me that I have to pay cash, I told her I don't have cash and I will come the next day. The next day I came to the subways and pay the money but employee told it was $30 dollars. I asked for the recipient and she refused to give me and told me I supposed to pay the previous evening. Trust me, if you really want to eat Subway, call Uber Eat or something don't waste your time on this one. read more

Awful experience here. Beware! I will not return. Signed up just to write this review. -They do not honor subway coupons received via mail. -They handed out their own coupons, for a specific day, just for their location. When we went, we were not informed until checkout that they would not honor those coupons! It even had their address on them! Many others who went that day said they would not come back. -Final experience: As I was about to pay, I realized I was being over charged by about a dollar. (Price on board was $4.75, i was being charged $5.80) I let the lady that I usually see working there know that the price was wrong. I almost didn't realize that I was being overcharged! Usually i pay with a card, this time i paid with cash and realized the price discrepancy as I was handing over the money to pay for my sandwich. The lady who usually works there, blamed it on the manager not putting the correct prices when ringing up the order at the register. She said It had happened before to other customers and there was nothing she could do because she was just the employee. Giving her the benefit of a doubt, I asked to speak with the manager to let him know that as a customer I felt it wasn't right that this was happening and they should fix the prices on their board to reflect what the customer was going to be charged. Was told that the manager, "Al", was on vacation. I was hungry so just said ok, paid and thought that I could come back another day with my receipt and a picture of the prices listed on the wall. (Really tried not to make a big deal of this, I just wanted to eat and there was another customer waiting in line) The employee freaked out and just started yelling at me! She didn't give me my receipt. Gave me a cookie instead. Said I couldn't take a picture of the prices that were listed there for all to see. I tried to explain that I just wanted to show the manager the difference between what was listed as the price on the board and what I was charged. At this point I should've just asked for my money back. I was just in shock of what was happening. She just continued to argue and telling me a bunch of things, while ignoring the other customer who was still waiting next in line. At first she said the manager would be back on Monday and I could speak with him then. Then she said the manager would be back the following day, Friday, and SHE would tell him about the price difference. I tried to let her know that I had no problem returning on a day that the manager was there and letting him know what had happened. As a customer, I had no issue with returning and trying to make sure this didn't happen to others. The employee didn't want to hear anything that I was saying and continued to argue. At this point, the next customer in line, who was still waiting, asked for the address of the location. The employee said 1600 and (some street I have never heard of). The customer quickly replied saying "we are on McMehen and Mount Royal." The employee just replied "it's all the same thing!" Seriously I was just in disbelief at this point. I live in the neighborhood and I had never heard of whatever street the employee had given. Returning to the issue, I tried to let her know that as an employee I understand that sometimes you are unable to correct mistakes. Although if this issue of the register overcharging customers was already known, why was it not fixed? Or at least fix the prices listed on the board! It just makes this place feel seedy and just wrong in regards of the way they are treating their customer. Also, if the manager is always "away" isn't there suppose to be an assistant manager or someone who is able to handle this type of responsibility? I find it seriously difficult to imagine that the store is being constantly left to this just one employee, a lady who I have to say was just very rude. Final take away: I will NEVER come back to this subway location. I will advise others to avoid this location if asked. Go to the subway on Charles st, St. Paul, any other location! I understand that some places charge different prices and that's fine BUT a customer has a right to know what they are being charged! If I had paid with a credit card i wouldn't have even noticed. P.S. This doesn't even include the part where the lady got mad at me because I had ordered a breakfast STEAK, egg, and cheese. I repeatedly said it and when I pointed out that there was no steak on my sandwich she got mad! I tried to let her know it was no big deal but she continue to complain about the order and about myself as a customer for not letting her know. Also, their bathroom is always out-of-order. Bullet proof glass in Bolton Hill? Go figure. You can barely hear what the workers say through the 2 inch thick glass, and they can barely hear you. The food is typical subway food. This place is the worst. I wish I could give it zero stars. When I went in they gas a sign stating that they didn't accept credit cards at the time. I'm not one to carry cash but had ten dollars handy. So it wasn't a problem until I realized this subway is more expensive than the one back home. Which also wasn't an issue. When she rang me up I noticed my chips had a huge hole in the bag and she was coughing the entire time when making my sandwich and heated up old cookies and sold them to me. Due to prices being a little higher than what I was used to I needed an extra $0.65. I told the cashier that I was going to run right outside to my car and get the rest. She said it was fine that I didn't need to but then continued to scold me for not having enough money. I asked her if it was such as issue why didn't she just let me go get the rest of the money from my car and she continued to say that it wasn't her fault I didn't have cash (which I did) Maybe put the sign stating that you Aster accepting credit cards on the entrance door so customers can decide prior to entering the building whether they want to deal with the inconvenience. I'm vegan and ordered a veggie delite no cheese. The lady put mayo on my sandwich, even though I did not ask for it. When I said Noooooo! No mayo! She just scrapped it off with a knife and rolled up up my sandwich! I asked her if all the mayo was off and she said yes........ It definitely wasn't. She should of made a new sub. The worst managed Subway I have ever been to. The hours online (and on the FRONT DOOR) say that the store is open until 10PM, but they close at 7PM nightly. There are never more than 2 employees working at any given time, and even that is rare. To make things worse, the owner decided to put up 6 inches of bullet-proof glass between the customers and the employees so you have to scream your order. It is far from "fast" food. I love Subway, it is my favorite sandwich franchise, but this store gives the chain a bad name. read more
