Cobb salad

We were in Chelsea to attend a performance at the nearby Joyce Theater. We had just enough time for a light meal, and Shafers was the perfect answer. We were immediately seated and treated like old friends. The food was exceptional and promptly provided. By the time we left, we WERE old friends. Highly recommended.

Was with a few friends looking for a spot to get something to eat and drink. Found this spot. It was very welcoming when we walked in. Bartenders were dressed as Llamas for Halloween. There were some patrons who were Google employees. They were definitely memorable. They were very accomodating; they were helping us to get more stools to sit at the bar. Steve is one of the regulars. He could also be a welcoming host. But he's a patron. The bar is also spacious! Great place to watch sports. I believe I counted twenty televisions. I had the delicious and well seasoned shrimp tacos. Two in our party ordered the veggie burger. Both were pleased. The French fries were crispy and yum. The side salad looked good! The owner came through and checked on patrons, always a plus in my book. I believe his name was Keith. Shout out to him! Happy customers are usually customers who will return. Customers remember how an establishment made them feel. This place brought my group joy! We will be back!

Shaffer's burger (beyond version) - mouthwatering!

If you are looking for a go-to spot in New York City, look no further than Shaffer's. This place is a gem! My friends brought me here for a bite and drinks and I was absolutely blown away by their burgers - mind you I am vegan. Seriously, their Shaffer's burger is out of this world, but what truly impressed me was the owner's willingness to create a mouthwatering vegan version just for me. Talk about top-notch hospitality! The drink menu is equally impressive, with delicious cocktails that hit the spot. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, making everyone feel like a regular, even if it is your first time there. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighborhood sports bar--safe, lively, and filled with good energy. With plenty of large screens everywhere, it is the perfect place to catch a game while enjoying some of the best bar food in town. If you are in NYC, you have got to check out Shaffer's. It's a must-visit for great food, drinks, and a genuinely friendly vibe that is becoming a rare find these days.

Came to watch a football game - pretty standard bar vibe, very good food within that category. I got the pancakes (solid) and my friend ate his fried pickles in about five minutes, so thumbs up. Bartender was hilarious too, kudos to her for putting up with college football fans at noon on a Saturday.

Super Spreader and The New Normal

Bar has a lot of TVs if you're there to watch a game. It was also nice that they have ports for people to charge their phones (although it was dark so I didn't even notice them until I was leaving). We stopped in for a late night drink after a show to check out what had become of Flight 151. Order a pretzel which came with cheese, not bad for a pretzel could've used more salt. Appreciate the names of the drinks as they're all related to the pandemic. I got the super spreader and my boyfriend got the new normal. Would've been nice if the drinks were new creations but they're pretty much renaming traditional drinks (e.g. the new normal is pretty much just a mojito, even the waitress called it that when asking if we wanted a refill). I didn't really hate or like my drink so giving the place 3 stars.

mac n cheese burger

Came here for a Michigan game, love that they have so many food options on display. I got the mac n cheese burger. The burger was SO GOOD. It was a potato bun that was super soft, there was a beef patty that had mac n cheese on the bottom and another layer of mac n cheese on top, loved that it was oozing out of the burger too. SUCH a decadent treat. Great spot and excited to come here for the next game. Go blue!

My new favorite sports bar! The atmosphere and wings are both amazing. Can't wait to go back for the next big game.

It was my first time there but I was expecting the menu I saw online, not this new one. We tried 2 drinks: one inspired by Turkish figs and one inspired by lemons and the "Miracle Berry", which inverts your palate and turns sour into sweet! I really enjoyed both drinks. The figs one came with a sweet fig granola bite and the lemon one really did taste sweet after eating the "Miracle Berry"! I'd definitely come back to try their many other drinks.

I liked how they organized the menu by country/geography to facilitate an understanding of the flavor profiles. I got two of the date & fig-flavored smoked whisky drinks and it was a well made, balanced, and very good. Not cheap at some $25 or something, but middle of Manhattan with some creative ingredients means I guess it is what it is. Servers seemed a bit annoyed to have to deal with us shortly before close as I think they were hoping to usher people out and close down maybe a little early. One the one hand I get it, on the other hand you've got two paying customers on a slow night.

The unmarked entrance and doorbell immediately set the tone, and once inside it feels like you stepped out of Manhattan and into a dark, old New York cocktail lounge. The velvet seating, curtains, low lighting, and little private nooks make the whole place feel intimate without being gimmicky. That atmosphere is very much intentional. The Chelsea location is the original Raines Law Room and is built around that hidden speakeasy experience. The cocktails were beautifully presented, and I liked that this felt like a place where you could actually sit with friends and have a conversation rather than compete with loud music. We also ordered some meat, cheese, olives, and crackers for the table, which was perfect alongside the drinks without turning the night into a full dinner. What stood out most to me was how cohesive everything felt. The drinks, glassware, lighting, service style, and decor all fit the same mood. It feels refined and special without trying too hard. Pay special attention to the bathroom wall art. Definitely not an inexpensive night out, but for a true New York cocktail bar experience, I thought Raines Law Room was absolutely worth visiting. This would be especially good for a date night or drinks with a small group.

Patent Pending is has such cool speakeasy vibes, think dimmed lighting and candles at each table in a very intimate space. Our plan was to get wine and a cheese board however, the kitchen was closed due to a family emergency. We could only order chips or bar nuts with our drinks. Disappointing but what can you do? We ordered both the chips and bar nuts to go along with our drinks. And instead of wine, I opted for a cocktail! They have a pretty extensive cocktail menu with all these crazy concoctions. I went for the Strange Magic which was citrusy and refreshing. I'll definitely be back to visit again and hopefully next time will get the cheese board :)

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.
