Stopped to grab a quick drink here before our dinner reservation. Seems like a pretty cool spot to hang out after work or before any late night shenanigans. Nice bar staff and a decent collection of brews. I'll be back in the future read more

I stumbled upon this little sports bar and decided to stick around to catch a football game. It does get pretty packed, but they also have outdoor seating with TVs, which is a nice touch if you want to watch from outside. The atmosphere is super chill and I really liked the overall vibe. I only ordered a snack--the mozzarella chips--and they were delicious. I'd definitely come back for brunch if I'm in the area again or on game day. read more

We were in Chelsea to attend a performance at the nearby Joyce Theater. We had just enough time for a light meal, and Shafers was the perfect answer. We were immediately seated and treated like old friends. The food was exceptional and promptly provided. By the time we left, we WERE old friends. Highly recommended. read more

Wow, this entire establishment is top tier. From the bartenders, the delicious food, the large selection or drinks, and the atmosphere, I see why this place is so popular. Schaffer the owner is so intentional in making sure his guests have a great experience and I so appreciate his effort. He greets everyone by name and takes the time to see you. You've built a solid team. To everyone there from the servers to the bartenders, thank you for your attentive and positive attitude! Schaffer, they treat your customers well even when you are not around. That's the making of a great business. read more

Great sports bar. The signature Shaffer burger is amazing. Don't let the pineapple throw you off. It's totally worth it. Owner is very friendly and the vibe is open and welcoming. I arrived late and needed a place to eat in Chelsea and this place did not disappoint. Open late, good vibes, great burger. I'll be back every time I'm in town. read more

We Love Shaffer's. We're from California wanted to watch Monday night football game with our friends and teenage kids. Called Shaffers Celine picked up the phone so friendly and told us to come in. We walked in and felt like home!! Shaffer and his staff (Celine & Hector) took such good care of us. The food is Shaffers mom's recipes and delicious. Those meatballs are a must my son loved the wings! The drinks were spot on and kept flowing. Dessert don't miss out perfect way to end the night. We didn't want to leave...we will definitely be back. Thank you Shaffer and your crew for treating us like like family! read more

Came with a group of 10 including some kids. The staff quickly put some tables together. Shaffer, the owner, greeted us and was an absolute pleasure. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The group ordered various burgers and drinks. Everything tasted great and the recommendations were spot on. Everything was clean, including the restrooms. It was the first time in New York for some in our group and they noted they would return if in town again. read more

Great food and amazing service! Went out to eat with family and the kids loved the food as well. Try the Schaffer burger

Came here to watch the Michigan vs Alabama game. We didn't get a table but they told us we could stand. We find a space in the back where we're not in the way and order some nachos, drinks, and shots at the bar. It's super crowded with more ppl standing around. The waitress with dark hair and glasses got mad at us and told us we were in the way and that she wasn't able to work w us standing around and if we weren't going to order drinks we had to leave. We told her we did order drinks and food but she didn't want to hear it. Lots of attitude and was super rude!! There were so many people standing around in more problematic areas and we were in the back where we were out of the way. Such bad service from this lady especially considering we ordered a lot of food and drinks already. We told her this but she didn't want to hear it. I understand she was stressed but there was no need for her comments and weird that she singled us out and that she didn't yell at anyone else. Such a shame...Also the diet coke is not good, it was extremely watered down, so terrible. The only redeeming quality is that the nachos were big and yum and only $15. I don't recommend this place. read more

Was with a few friends looking for a spot to get something to eat and drink. Found this spot. It was very welcoming when we walked in. Bartenders were dressed as Llamas for Halloween. There were some patrons who were Google employees. They were definitely memorable. They were very accomodating; they were helping us to get more stools to sit at the bar. Steve is one of the regulars. He could also be a welcoming host. But he's a patron. The bar is also spacious! Great place to watch sports. I believe I counted twenty televisions. I had the delicious and well seasoned shrimp tacos. Two in our party ordered the veggie burger. Both were pleased. The French fries were crispy and yum. The side salad looked good! The owner came through and checked on patrons, always a plus in my book. I believe his name was Keith. Shout out to him! Happy customers are usually customers who will return. Customers remember how an establishment made them feel. This place brought my group joy! We will be back! read more

If you are looking for a go-to spot in New York City, look no further than Shaffer's. This place is a gem! My friends brought me here for a bite and drinks and I was absolutely blown away by their burgers - mind you I am vegan. Seriously, their Shaffer's burger is out of this world, but what truly impressed me was the owner's willingness to create a mouthwatering vegan version just for me. Talk about top-notch hospitality! The drink menu is equally impressive, with delicious cocktails that hit the spot. The owner and staff are incredibly welcoming, making everyone feel like a regular, even if it is your first time there. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a neighborhood sports bar--safe, lively, and filled with good energy. With plenty of large screens everywhere, it is the perfect place to catch a game while enjoying some of the best bar food in town. If you are in NYC, you have got to check out Shaffer's. It's a must-visit for great food, drinks, and a genuinely friendly vibe that is becoming a rare find these days. read more

I do of course hate dating myself, but I remember this location back when it was the glorious old dive bar Flight 151. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high, but this just felt like a dirty, dingy bar in all the wrong ways--uncleared tables, bad drafts from unclean taps, a burger that didn't taste great going down and felt iffy afterwards... and an uncomfortable, fratty bro vibe to boot. I'm a big a fan of sports bars and sometimes feel like we could actually use a few more legit sports bar options in the city, but this really didn't feel like my kind of sports bar spot. read more

Best service I have ever experienced in my 44 years of life. Must visit! Surreal experience like if I was royalty.

Came to watch a football game - pretty standard bar vibe, very good food within that category. I got the pancakes (solid) and my friend ate his fried pickles in about five minutes, so thumbs up. Bartender was hilarious too, kudos to her for putting up with college football fans at noon on a Saturday. read more

Grabbed a quick beer after work once - good service, decent choices and prices given the area! The food smelled good (especially the wings) though I didn't partake as I was on my way to another dinner in the area. Next time! read more

There's a reason this establishment is a success and it starts at the top! James Shaffer is always present thanking guests and ensuring you are having a great time. We moved our daughter to NYC for school and stopped in for lunch. He came by our table and looked my daughter in the eyes and said "your parents are on the other side of the country, if you need anything you come here and ask for me". The food is great, the games are always on and you feel at home. We stop in every time we visit and James always remembers us. He's a class act running a great restaurant! You won't be disappointed. read more

Bar has a lot of TVs if you're there to watch a game. It was also nice that they have ports for people to charge their phones (although it was dark so I didn't even notice them until I was leaving). We stopped in for a late night drink after a show to check out what had become of Flight 151. Order a pretzel which came with cheese, not bad for a pretzel could've used more salt. Appreciate the names of the drinks as they're all related to the pandemic. I got the super spreader and my boyfriend got the new normal. Would've been nice if the drinks were new creations but they're pretty much renaming traditional drinks (e.g. the new normal is pretty much just a mojito, even the waitress called it that when asking if we wanted a refill). I didn't really hate or like my drink so giving the place 3 stars. read more

5 stars for a University of Michigan bar. Electric atmosphere and great appetizer foods. Would recommend the Chicken Tenders, Tats, and Buffalo Wings. On nice evenings, they open up the front for a hybrid outdoor patio feel. Fun spot to enjoy sports and a drink. read more

Came here with a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon to hang out, grab a few drinks and lunch. The place is air conditioned, so I was already a happy camper upon entering. The drink menu is very creative, as it was COVID themed. I ordered the N95 ($14), consisting of Ketel One Botanical, gin & fresh lemonade. Definitely more alcohol as it was super strong. I also ordered a Quesadilla ($14), consisting of flour tortilla, black beans, cilantro, onions, peppers, mixed cheeses, pico de gallo, sour cream. Tasted great and filling. Service is not too bad. Wished they gave us more than just one bottle of water as we were able to empty the entire bottle amongst the 8 of us after pouring everyone a cup. FYI: There is a 3% credit card fee. read more

Came here for a Michigan game, love that they have so many food options on display. I got the mac n cheese burger. The burger was SO GOOD. It was a potato bun that was super soft, there was a beef patty that had mac n cheese on the bottom and another layer of mac n cheese on top, loved that it was oozing out of the burger too. SUCH a decadent treat. Great spot and excited to come here for the next game. Go blue! read more

Came here for college football game watch. Seems like a few different alumni associations coordinate with Shaffers to host game watches here. They've got around two dozen TVs so every spot inside or outside has a view of a TV. Really fun atmosphere to be with other fans. They were also agreeable to putting other games on if all the patrons in the area agreed to it. Beer selection mostly focused on macros but there was a good variety so anyone could find a style they like. Food was good too. The fries were great. They were on the slightly thicker side but were still very crispy. I shared the Mac n cheese burger with my wife. It's monstrous, messy, and quickly become a fork and knife burger. Definitely needed a nap after finishing it. The waitstaff did a good job attending to us despite how busy they were. Never had to wait a long time for anything we ordered. read more

It was a rainy day and we needed a spot to duck in for an hour. Found Shaffer's. It wasn't too crowded at around 2pm on a Saturday with some groups by the bar and juke box. They had a whole section on the menu for coffee & tea, so I ordered a latte, but was told their machine was broken. So I got plain coffee. It took a long time to arrive (at least 15 mins) and when it did, it was lukewarm and came with no cream or sugar. I asked for milk on the side. When we got the bill we had a random "food" charge - turns out it was $3 for the milk I asked for - almost as much as the coffee itself. Had I known, I wouldn't have asked! If I do come back here, I'd stick to alcoholic drinks. read more

Great place to watch sports. They have plenty of TVs, lots of drink options, and classic bar food.

I've been coming to this location since he first opened it. One of the most loving and caring people I know. He is truly down to earth. Cool dude. The food and service is excellent and suggest all should try. The Shaffer burger is to die for! Perfect mix of spicy and sweet. The pretzel is always a classic favorite. Fries are my favorite; crispy and flavorful! Never soggy and that is important. Drinks are worth the price! NOT WATERED Downed! && that's a plus. Plus the music ... fucking phenomenal!!!!!!! LGBTQ2S+ Friendly, 420 friendly area, and all are welcomed. A place to come and unwind and be yourself. Was just there this Thursday and it was an absolute blast. Stopped in today after a play and was surprised at how much of a poor experience this was after reading some rave reviews. We arrived at 1pm and did not have a reservation but told we could sit at a 2 person table that didn't have a party coming in until 4pm. Both the waitress and the server either didn't want to work today or they were bothered that their social time in the back corner of the bar was being interrupted. My friend never received the cream she asked for with her coffee so we flagged a kitchen worker who brought milk. I only recieved half of my food order. We were given plastic cups for our water and one was broken; the water spilled and the waitress watched as my friend tried to drink it quickly then she never brought additional napkins after we used both to clean up the spilled water. Both the waitress and the server were cold bordering rude each time they were at our table. To be fair the waitress has a lower back tattoo so I'm assuming good choices aren't her forte but if you don't want this job then perhaps find another that is not in the service industry. I'm only giving two stars because the food that did come out was delivered very quickly and the manager whom we had to flag down to ask for our bill apologized when she gave the news the remainder of my food wasn't even entered. read more

Shaffer's has really transformed from its former name/look (flight 151). They've made impressive renovations and revamped their menu to include signature cocktails. As a pitt alum I come here for game watches and this past Saturday I felt the staff did a great job trying to handle all of the fans sitting inside and out on the street and kept the drinks coming. Im happy they added the panther bomb to their menu which I've have not enjoyed since my days at Pitt but glad as a game watch bar they accommodate Pitt fans. read more

Food was decent but guy at the bar made my friend leave a credit card at the bar even though we were having food at a table - then when we paid ended up giving my friend the wrong card back (someone else's). Went for a drink with 2 friends and really no way Shaffer's could've messed it up. UNLESS they served us 3 mixed drinks without a drop of booze.
