Two stars bc my powder dip w/tip manicure was great despite my tech cutting my fingers twice w/the nail file (she was younger and def a beginner) but the pedicure I received was horrible, two different nail opi paints are either off or faded after less Than 24hrs, unacceptable, $20 soak off of acrylic sets and yet my big toe nail completely ripped off bc they used a drill to take off my no chip toe nail Polish WHY AM I PAYING 20$ For A Soak off if ur going to over drill my toes to the point it literally rips off by simply walking around on acarpet rug!? Make it make sense. My big issue is with management and owners putting new techs on folks and charging full price for services they aren't ready for. The techs were nice and respectful and did the best they could however charging top tier tech rates (143$) for beginners who took 3 hrs for a mani +pedicure (yes our appointment was at 3 ended at 6) makes no sense. I came to Shades for the first time on Christmas Eve! I had been wanting to try it out and I was NOT disappointed. Hands down, Calvin gave me the prettiest set of nails I've ever had. They were so delicate and well placed. And he totally captured my Asthetic and style the very first time! I'm in absolute love with these nails. And the atmosphere of the place is fantastic, also. Gel on my Sunday pedicure chipped by Tuesday. When we arrived (had two pedicure appointments) the shop looked empty and closed. A girl moving pretty slowly finally opened the doors. I try to be empathetic but they were not busy at open. My friends pedi got started right away with a guy named Travis - he was GREAT!!!!! but no one came to do my pedicure.... Finally they tell me the tech "didn't come to work or overslept" so I would have to wait another 30 minutes.... Travis was a gem and did BOTH pedicures and did an amazing job. It would've been a lot more frustrating if I was waiting alone, but luckily I had my friend to talk with. After Travis did my pedi and base color, he passed me off to another tech who was going to do the French tips. She did fine, but she seemed kinda annoyed and also talked about her coworker in front of me which was awkward. Not sure if she was the one who overslept for my apt or not. They did offer us a discount which was appreciated but then I had to return two days later to get my chopped polish fixed. For the service and prices, I wouldn't recommend. read more

This nail salon is the best - it's fun and friendly. Most important though is the staff has skills. They provide an exceptional service. I have been going here a short time; however I had a complete set of gel pink and whites before the Covid 19 shut down. I have not been able to go for a balance in 5 weeks and my nails still look pretty amazing. I have NEVER been able to go this long between fills - granted I have no choice right now - however, they are not peeling or bubbling. My natural nails are Growing out but the gel is still adhering wonderfully. I am so happy my nails are not looking haggard yet. THANK YOU! When we are able to return I am there! It was our first and last time at Shade. It's been 3 days since I had dip and at least 2 nails are cracking and chipping off which has never happened to me in the past at other nail spas. The experience was terrible. It took 1.5 hours and felt like we were at the spa school. I went with my daughter. She waited 20 minutes before someone came out of the back room to get her. Calvin provides me with top quality service! I've never felt so welcome at a nail salon. I did not feel rushed or like a number. He first introduced himself and told me a little about his background. We are in the same industry so we connected easily. Calvin is VERY particular about the service he offers. He soaked my dip set off and applied a new set with the most amazing, all acrylic, geometric design. I have received so many compliments on my nails it's insane! Calvin is worth the price. His sets lasts 3-4 weeks before a fill is needed. He is very humble but also very aware of his worth! His wife Lisa (I think that's her name) does AMAZING pedicures. Our party was there on time but they didn't have the promised staff to handle our party. We were there late as they had two people working 6 people! The water was cold and staff dropped f bombs while talking to our 11 year old daughters. Not a good experience all around. Ruined a fun Spring break activity for a mommy/daughter outing. I used to love Shades but my last time in I had a terrible experience. I was scheduled for a gel pedicure. The woman who did my toenails cut three of my toes to the point where they wouldn't stop bleeding, which she then said that she "didn't know what to do," and made a joke that she hadn't been there in awhile so she forgot how to do nails. Then, she began picking at my cuticle on my big toe, and went so deep that I started bleeding again. She then said that it was my fault because I had a "fold" on my skin. I have been getting pedicures for YEARS and never once has this happened to me. I was actually in so much pain from my skin being cut that I couldn't walk right on my right foot. It felt like they were all just practicing. The only time it would be worth going is if the owners are the ones doing your nails. Otherwise, don't waste $65.00 trying to get a pedicure that won't leave you limping. read more

I want to start off by saying, I really wanted to love this place. Going to get my nails done is a big deal for me, I do not do it often. So when I do I get the expensive package and I tip well and I expect quality. Unfortunately, I did not get the quality piece of this equation. I do the gel, so I do not ruin it because I'm horrible, and I've never had a problem with the polish lasting a good week usually two. The first night while showering polish came straight off a nail. I went in the next day and they fixed it no problem. However, I left for a conference and on the way to the conference I noticed other nails had small bubbles. I left them alone praying for the best, but with no luck the second I took another shower water got under the polish and took pieces of the polish off. So here I am at a work conference with some extremely messed up nails looking for a nail place to be able to fix what I just spent $110 on getting done 3 days ago I don't know if it's low grade polish that's being used or what the deal is, but this has never happened before and it definitely happened at the worst possible time for me. read more

I have gone to Shades several times now, and have gotten gels and pedicures. The people there relate to you and you connect with them, they are not afraid to share their life stories, advice, and are not just out to get your money. The quality of the gels is fantastic, and the pedicures are great, but I mostly go because of the overall happy atmosphere. All of the employees have a special connection, and you feel like you belong there. Everything is sanitary, and high quality, and I highly recommend it. They are also working on getting a liquor license, so that's a definite plus. My friends and I will definitely have a "girls night" soon there! I had to get a Yelp account just to give this place a good review, I don't understand how someone could have a bad experience here! The only downside to this place is that sometimes it takes a while to get everything done, but I think it's because they take their time to make it high quality and establish relationships with clients. read more
