Do not go to this place if you have a tear as they do not repair tears. I walked in today and the young man asked how ge could help me. I laid out my coat on the table and showed him about an 8" tear along my right front pocket. He said they have machines and do not repair tears. I gestured if he couldn't hand sew the tear but he said it was not cost effective. Seems some Millenials don't know how to measure time costs. $25-35 range would have worked for me. I have other alterations needed without tears. Will go elsewhere. read more

My go-to for my alterations (both locations Blackstone and Herndon). I've taken my formal dresses, work pants, and jeans. They are very friendly and are always able to get them done on time. They get super busy during wedding and prom season, so if you need alterations during that time make sure you go ASAP! The cost varies depending on what you're getting done, but is pretty affordable, my multi-layer dress cost $40 to alter and hem, while my sister-in-law's one layer dress cost $20 to hem. read more

I have come here multiple times to get multiple pairs of clothing sewn and altered. They are always very friendly and happy to see me and are very expeditious with the repairs that I asked them to do. Last year I had to get a pair of pants brought in an emergency. I'm giving one star because there's no option to give zero stars. My friend was in a wedding for which she ordered a velvet bridesmaid dress from Revelry, the same exact company my sister and I ordered our velvet dresses from. I got the recommendation to go to Sew-N-So from that friend. When I called the shop, I informed the woman on the phone that our friend had a dress from the same company and recommended the shop. She then told me velvet is hard to work with, so I would still need to bring it in, so that she could look at the material. My sister brought her dress in today, 09/10/2022, and a man in the front went back to talk to the seamstress. He came back out and told her that velvet was hard to work with, and she said no. My sister again mentioned the work our friend had done on her own velvet dress at the same store, to which the man answered by saying "she doesn't want to do it.". The seamstress did not even look at the dress nor did she talk to my sister before saying no. While it may not seem like the smartest decision to turn away business, it's a personal one, and would be fine, if she had at least come out to look at the dress and have a conversation before saying no, OR never told us to bring it in to be looked at. What a waste of gas and time. Business must be good because if we had been treated better, we may have gone there if we needed something else altered, now we will not use this business at all. read more

**It's been two years since my original post, but Sew-N-So deserves tons of praise. WEDDING ALTERATIONS: I have been a bridesmaid almost a dozen times, and I always ALWAYS go to Mia and Hiep. Mia's work is fantastic and SPEEDY, and her attention to detail is better than any other work I've seen, and trust me, I've been in enough weddings to know which alteration spots in town can deliver! Took a dress in, needed it let out, straps taken in and a hem. They let the dress out, I came back a week later to try it on and get the hem length and strap length, four days later it was good to go. It was a bridesmaids dress. It was so well done one of the girls in the wedding commented on how well the dress fit me. I told her I had it altered and she goes we all did but our dresses don't fit as good as yours. We ordered my daughter's prom dress online and when it arrived, it was too big. I took the dress in and the seamstress automatically knew what needed to be don, which was no small undertaking. She needed to completely remove the skirt portion from the top to make the top portion not as long and the sides of the top portion needed to be taken in. When we went back in to pick up the dress, my daughter put it on once again for the seamstress and the dress was BEAUTIFUL. It fit my daughter perfectly. I can not thank Sew-N-So enough. I had a pair of jeans that needed to get taken in and they did an amazing job! They were able to take almost 2 inches off the waist without leaving any noticeable seams or overly scrunching the material below the waist band. I've used the other location on Shaw and fruit for years. After moving to clovis I was happy to still be near the same family for alterations. I took a basic hem in and it came out to $15 a little more on the expensive side for a basic fabric hem but the owners were very nice. I would come back if I was pressed for time. read more

I went in for alterations on a dress I had purchased for an Airmen's Banquet dinner. The staff was very friendly and got it at a ridiculously perfect length. They were short a day, promised Thursday but I had to go in again on Friday to actually get it- but it was Halloween week and the lady said she had a lot of costumes she was trying to finish. No big, I went in early enough so it wouldn't be a problem. When I went to pay, I was blown away by the price. I even asked her if she was sure that's what she wanted to charge me because it seemed too cheap. Now I recommend my husband over there for his uniform patches and alterations! read more

Brought in a formal gown for a wedding on August 29; was told it would be ready on September 12. Wedding was in October, so plenty of time remained. Dress merely needed hemming and for the shoulders to be lifted; no extraneous details or fancy materials, a straightforward job. On September 12, the owner called to say she had run behind and the dress would not be ready for two more weeks. Still no problem. Went to pick up dress on the 26th. Was told then that it was not ready. She said she had started it but needed another hour. I told her I was going out of town and would not be back before wedding to pick it up. She said, ok, give me a half-hour. I said I still could not wait and needed the dress back. When she went to find it, it was still wrapped in its plastic and nothing had been done. So, not only did she not complete the job after having more than a month, she lied to my face. I will never be back. read more

This isn't the first time I've gone to Sew and So, but Mia did such a wonderful job, I had to write a review. I ordered a dress online and was so glad when it arrived a day before my niece's baby shower. That joy was cut short when I realized the dress was huge! There was no way I was wearing it to the shower, so I decided to try to get it altered before my trip to Florida so I could at least wear it there. I ran over to Sew and So at about 10:30am. Mia was happy to help and got the dress pinned to fit perfectly. She asked when I needed it and I told her about my trip to Florida on Tuesday, and how I was bummed I wouldn't be able to wear it to the baby shower the following day. Without skipping a beat, Mia said she'd do it for me! She said to come back at 7:30 and the dress would be ready. She was true to her word and the dress is perfect!
