I googled places for alterations and I found this place. When I went there I ask if the can cut my jeans to the length I needed and the measure to the length I needed and they're are perfect. Location: Sew N So Blackstone Date: July 10, 2025 Service: button sewn on Earlier this week I went to Sew N So for a repair on my sweater the button fell off. I did find the button so all good. When you arrive at Sew N So they have a sign on the door stating they are going on vacation next week and not taking any new orders. I was disappointed naturally but I chose to speak to the supervisor, owner or manager on duty they were able to assist me and take my sweater. My sweater will be ready for pick up hopefully before they go on vacation this month. People be aware and prepared. Their prices are reasonably and they only accept cash payments last time I checked. I branched out and went to this location of Sew-N-So because the one near my home was closed and nearly looked shut down (hope not? ). The service I needed was to hem a pair of work pants. Anyway, I was already out and about with my pants, so I went to this N Blackstone location instead, rather than keep trying at the closer location. Just like the other Sew-N-So locations, they tell you that you can pick up a week from when you drop off, which was fine with me. When I dropped off, a guy was practically begging them for same-day service, offering to pay extra, etc., and they said no, they just can't do it. So plan accordingly; they need a full week. Several people are working hard in the business. They seem to have a lot of work, with many customers constantly coming and going. They did a beautiful job on my hemming and it was ready to be picked up on time. And in addition, for only $15, it was an excellent value. The only hitch was this -- before I picked up, I checked on yelp to see if they accept credit cards. Yelp says they do. But no! Pay attention, my fellow customers! They do NOT accept credit cards. They only accept cash or check. There's a sign in the store which says so. So then I was slightly embarrassed and had to leave and drive around looking for an ATM. First I went into the (pretty skeevy) liquor store and cash-checking place next door, looking for an ATM, but they didn't seem to have one. They had a big check cashing window with a long line. So then I drove a bit south on Blackstone and found an ATM in an AM/PM. But just save yourself the trouble and be sure you bring cash! :) Really great business. read more

Only negative: I got my work pants done and each pair ripped the 1st day wearing them at work. The alterations were really good besides that and It is considerable that I have a very physical job where i do a lot of bending (which is when they ripped). I never tried bringing them back so im not sure how they would have responded had I brought them back in. i fixed the holes myself by hand, but i could have never done the alterations myself and do not regret bringing them to this shop. read more

With the exception that they only take cash or check (checks, really?!) They are great. A little dissapointed they were not open on Monday for me to pick up my slacks, but that was muy fault for not checking before hand (they were ready on Saturday, but I wouldn't be back on that side of town until Monday). **must read** I NEVER leave reviews. This place totally scammed me. They did a great job with the alterations I asked for but it was an absurd amount of money they asked for. For one, they did not give me a quote. I went to pick up my items 1 week later(also good, very timely) and they said "that'll be $130"... for 4 items to be taken in. (Dress hem, skirt set taken in to make smaller, and a denim skirt repaired) Not really excessive alterations. She tried to say it was a lot of work, which I'm sure it was, but I'm sorry. Alterations should not cost more than the clothing items themselves. I tried to tell her I'm in college and can't afford that and she told me AND I QUOTE "use your mom's money or put it on a credit card". Long story short, she talked to someone and they lowered it to $100. Which I still think is ridiculous. Especially after reading other reviews of $15 here and $40 there... totally scammed. read more

As far as doing phenomenal work well, they definitely do that. And at the end of the day that's wut it's all about. If there was any area of improvement I would say it's communication & the time they give you for completion is almost never correct. Is it a big deal? I bought a bargain pair of new with tags alpine pants via online consignment...only for them to arrive with a hole in them! Agh! I can't sew for the life of me, so I started looking around for alterations and came across Sew n So. It was a really small repair on a synthetic-type material, and Sew n So was really helpful and accommodating. They did such a great job on my pants and working with the synthetic material, and the price was quite reasonable. They were super fast, and my pants were ready the next week. The shop is super clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. They also had really cute custom face masks for sale, with a pattern for everyone! Update on recent alterations (from my previous review) I had a suit, a sportscoat, and 3 dress shirts altered. When I had taken them home my family had thought I bought new clothes. Everything fits perfectly! My sister also had some jogger pants altered and although I had thought the pants looked fine before, they fit her really good and she is very happy with how they turned out! Needed a formal dress hemmed for my short stature and they did just that. They had me try on the dress and stand on a pedestal and ensured I was okay with the length it was going to be hemmed at. Sew-N-So on the east side of Blackstone close to Herdon had wonderful employees and saved Me from an embarrassing situation when I showed up to have new pants shortened WITHOUT A SECOND PAIR OF PANTS TO WEAR HOME. I would have had to drive home in my shorts and walk out to my car in shorts also!! Instead of putting me thru all that they put me behind a thick CURTAIN - measured the pants , took off the inch needed and reminded me the 30 inch length I've used all my life now needs to be purchased as 29 inch length as people like me in their 80's SHRINK AS THEY AGE.
