I love Seventh Son! When I say 5 stars, I mean it! Awesome beers, great service, perfect décor and ambience (definitely checks every box for the hipster vibe, but I'd say it's more so the unpretentious hipster vibe). Honestly, I can't even think of one thing they could've possibly done better on my visit. I came on a Saturday night around 8 or 9 PM. We were immediately acknowledged by the bartender (like before I even took my coat off) and he gave us the draft menu, which I literally held onto the entire night because I kind of secretly wanted to try all the beers. I didn't feel like standing all night, and luckily two seats opened up at the bar no more than 2 minutes after we arrived. Sitting at the bar was comfortable! There was enough space for people to still come up and order next to me, and I never felt crowded. It was also never too loud for conversation, which is one of my top recurring complaints for bars - apparently someone made up a rule... the louder it is, the more fun you're having!!! There's also a large room in the back, which has tons of seating and large tables. The beers were so great! The favorites of the night were the syzygy double IPA (I'm amazed this is so good - honestly wut how is this 10.9%), the namesake seventh son american strong ale, and sonder. Although let's be honest, I didn't have one that I did not like. They were reasonably priced too at $5 for a beer, and $8 for a cute flight of 4. At one point in time, I'd ordered another beer and they happened to be changing that keg, it took awhile (although TBH I didn't really notice how long it was taking), and the bartender gave us a little flight-sized glass of a similar brew "to sip on while waiting" - so thoughtful. I took home a pint glass and a mason jar for $3 each as a daily temptation to return. I really can't wait to go back! I'm dreaming about having a flight on the patio this spring... Seventh Son is very popular brewery in Columbus so my friends and I finally made it over there last weekend for a visit. Pros: -Cool, trendy industrial atmosphere -Rotating local food truck outside -Runs fun specials -Many beer options Cons: -No gluten free beers or ciders. This was a big issue for me since I can't have gluten. I could've gotten a mic drink but what's the fun in that? I go to a brewery to go beer. -The upstairs is so unbelievably loud (I think from echoing since there isn't much material around to absorb sound. Everything is made of wood, steel, wrought iron, etc) I could barely hear my friends across the table. Overall, it's worth a stop just to check it out and say you've been there- it's a popular Columbus destination. I've been here a couple times, because I don't live in the area. They are dog friendly outside, which currently has a fire pit (nice for chilly times). They've had a food truck there each time, which is really nice. I had their blackberry tart (forget the name), but it was TERRIFIC! I also had their saison, which surprised me that it tasted just slightly hoppy. I usually don't like hoppy beers, but this one was very subtle and very nice. My husband and I met up with my coworkers for a work happy hour, and we had a great time. It was a little hard to find parking during Friday happy hour. I guess that is telling. The atmosphere is a warm industrial style with a sort of garage setting with large family style tables. (Probably would be lovely on a warmish day! Although I can't imagine the parking then!) It seemed a little warmer and not as coldish as some garage settings. There is a resident mouser ("Assistant Manager", ha). He was too good for the likes of me though (smart cat, ha ha). First, the bartender was super helpful in picking out our beers. This was amazing because we had come in knowing that it was an IPA joint and both of us hated IPA's. We went through our limited list of types of beers we thought we might like...wheat (no), brown (theirs too hoppy), and finally landed with Belgium (yes!). We also asked "not hoppy"?!?! Finally we landed on an Abbey Normaal, a Belgium dubbel, for my husband. I also liked his selection but decided to with Oubliette, an imperial stout, that I also enjoyed. They both had a touch of sweetness without overwhelming hops. I am not sure if there was a happy hour special, but our bill was a bit steep. I guess that is to be expected since all they do is beer, and they pour their heart into it. There is no food but they had a gourmet pierogi food truck outside. It looked interesting, but we weren't that familiar with pierogies and weren't feeling it. Lastly, I ran into the owner, and he was a nice chap. read more

This place is neat! As a suburbanite with young kids who works in the 'burbs, I don't get downtown nearly enough for my own satisfaction or to get really familiar with the local neighborhoods. As such, I am accustomed to turning south off of 670 to downtown, Short North, etc. versus north to the Italian Village area. The neighborhood is up & coming, clearly gentrifying but not all the way done yet, and 7th Son will no doubt help in the cause. The evening we visited, it was my wife and I stopping by before a dinner reservation elsewhere. There is a bar that merges indoors with an outdoor patio via several large garage doors. The crowd is eclectic hipster cool, but certainly welcoming of us long-in-the-tooth suburban professionals as well. I am more than a little interested in beer (to drink, to make, to talk about, and in a previous life - to sell) and this is clearly a place that caters to that interest. Several very good house-made beers on tap along with some thoughtful guest-tap selections. Bar tender was pleasant. Made some new friends at the bar. No real food options here - there was a food truck parked out front on the Saturday night we were there; no idea if this is a permanent fixture. Beer was good, scene was cool. Good people watching as well; in particular my wife and the new lady-friend she met at the bar enjoyed watching two emo-ish youngsters making out on one of the outdoor benches...gave us all something to comment on when conversation hit a lull. Another of the wonderful craft breweries that have become so popular in the last decade. I hope these guys survive the economically inevitable consolidations that will hit this sector in the next few years. Why? Because they make a damn fine product and run their business in an innovative way. The upsides: great brews, super knowledgable staff, locally made hard alcohol drinks, and a repurposed building in a neighborhood that needed entrepreneurs to roll the dice and help catalyze the renovation. The downsides: parking is very limited, those without beards/tattoos/porkpie hats may feel tragically unhip, and you eventually have to leave and go back out into the real world. Cruel. Try this place, take home a growler or two, and hope that the reason you have their bottles in your house 50 years from now is because you are still buying from them rather than holding on to the bottles nostalgically like they do with the ones above their bar. read more

We visited Seventh Son on a sunny Friday evening and had a couple beers on the back porch and really enjoyed it! They also have a front patio where a food truck was parked. I did get to see food that someone ordered which looked like fries loaded with lots of goodies-looked amazing! To drink we tried the Scientist IPA first, and then had what they call the "kitchen sink" - because they put so many different things in it they can't even classify it. It was dark in color but actually tasted pretty mild. I liked it. I noticed they have a room inside which looks like it could accommodate a big party, sounds like a really fun idea to me! This is my favorite brewery in Columbus! I love the huge expansion they have added. It's spacious with lots of seating and natural light with the translucent roof. It's almost hard to image how small the place used to be before the add on. The beer is always good and they offer a great rotating selection. Ale Trail stop #3. Seventh son is a true local brewery that is separating itself from the other guys while still keeping it retro and fun. The bar has a classic, diner-like feel to it which really made me wonder whether or not I was at a brewery. The atmosphere is different, to say the least. After talking to Drew, the bartender, and perusing the vast selection, I started with the IPA and eventually graduating to the Blackberry sour. Both we're exceptional. After a while I noticed a furry friend brush up against my leg and little did I know that it was the Assistant Manager. He was a pretty cool dude but I feel bad for the guy who didn't get the job over a cat. Overall Seventh Son was a fantastic experience. Will be back. Many more times. read more

We visited seventh son Brewing on the "Ale Trail" while visiting family in the area. The atmosphere is excellent and inviting. They do a great job of making the taproom feel like a community gathering spot. The beer was great with a large variety to please many pallets. They didn't make food, but there were food trucks by the road. We ordered some food to snack on and had a great time. The final thing that made this place feel like home was the assistant cat manager - now director of pest control. This cat was very down to earth and did not hold his corporate status over our heads, but instead welcomed us with a friendly meow. Definitely stop by here and sip Some suds. read more

It wasn't as busy as I expected it to be for a Thursday night, but that worked in our favor. It was pretty cold that night though. We had no problem finding a table and getting our beers. There is a lot of outdoor seating here - more outdoor than indoor, which is great for the warmer months. I tried the American Strong Ale and Golden Ratio IPA. I was pleasantly surprised with both of these choices. In fact, I'm pumped to go back and try more of them! But I'd be torn considering I can't wait to have these two again. One of the guys we were with doesn't like beer and this brewery had liquor as well, so that's a bonus for those that like to vary it up throughout the night. My only complaint is that the music was WAY too loud in the main bar area. I know, I know. I'm an old man. But our group could not possibly stay in the bar area, because it wasn't possible to talk to each other. Lucky for us old guys in our 30s, there is a room in back with tables. We were outside for a while until it was too cold - that's the best place to enjoy this bar. There are food trucks many nights per week if you're looking for food. The decor was nice throughout. It seems to be a converted former car repair garage. So it's impressive what's been done with the place. There is not a lot of parking in the private lot, so plan on street parking in the neighborhood. I didn't mind the walk myself, but I wouldn't want my wife walking back there. End result: I'd go back when the occasion presents itself. Seventh son impressed me enough to have me back, considering all of the local Columbus brewery options. This is an outstanding place, VERY clean and very customer friendly, just an comfortable environment to enjoy some beer and cocktail and hanging out with friends, perhaps a place to bring your date that drinks? They have tons of beer selections, there are regulars and there are seasonal, I would suggest to try the flight if you are here for the first time. The only disappointment is that they have very limited selection of bottles here, as an out towner, I would love to bring some back for my friends in CA, but since they don't have the bottles I wanted, I had to go to a grocery shop to purchase the beer. Well I can't really say much about the drinks at this place because I do not drink alcohol. I came here mainly because Street Thyme was going to be there serving the burgers up off their food truck. I did however had a chance to get a non alcoholic ginger beer. That was pretty good. The thing I can talk about is the ambience and the service that you receive from this establishment. When my family and myself arrived. There were a bunch of people here. They must of had a craving for some burgers as well or this could have been their normal crowd. Either way it was a pretty chill bunch. The establishment itself is very trendy yet minimalist in decor. I loved the table and bench set up. It allowed for interaction with people that you might not had the chance to interact with any other time. I also liked the separate event room that they had available. The hubby and I visited Seventh Son Brewing several months ago. Unfortunately, I was 7 months pregnant at the time, so I didn't get to enjoy the full experience. However, I really enjoyed my time here! I staked out a sofa at the entrance of the brewery and spent my time on my phone and people-watching. There were plenty of tables, a large bar area, and outside seating by a food truck. A large kid's birthday party was also going on in an adjacent space. I genuinely think it's the size, decor and atmosphere that makes me wish I could pick this place up and move it out to the countryside. This main space isn't huge. But not, like, creepy crapped. Intimate. But all about "Hey, meet your neighbor!" kinda vibes. They have an extra room off to the right of the bar, as well as the front and back patios. I've always been a big fan of the wood-mixed-with-concrete theme. This is obvious here - score! The white lights hit all the right places. The plants/shrubbery that surround the front patio is just simple classic. While their main parking lot is not ginormous, there's plenty of street parking, so just keep an eye out. Coolest brewery I've been to in a while! I'm from Cincinnati and we've got some awesome breweries, but Columbus truly has a gem with Seventh Son. They have such a dope aesthetic and killer indoor and outdoor spaces! I especially love the rooftop on a beautiful spring day! A top 5 favorite of breweries in the Columbus area. So happy that it's expanding! Love the outdoor space in the summer - but it can also be enjoyed on somewhat less frigid days of winter thanks to the fire pit. Last night we went to enjoy the Girl Scout Cookie/Craft Beer pairing flight. I love beer ALMOST as much as I love cookies - so this was a treat. The price was super reasonable $12 for 4 tastings and 4 cookies. I enjoyed them all - I may have even dipped my cookies in the beer. Was in town for a friends birthday and this was on the top of my brewery list. It did not disappointed. For a Friday night it was pretty packed, but we were able to find a table to squeeze into. Now down to the beer...sadly, this was the 4th stop on our all day drinking tour, so I can't remember all of the details of the beer...but I can say that I enjoyed it, they had a wide selection and there was only one beer that I thought was a little bland. I tilt towards sours, IPAs, and stouts. They offered a wide selection and there was a really good double ipa, but I can't remember the name. There is plenty of space for whatever you please, whether you prefer outdoor patio space, a dining area or the taproom and bar. The beers are fantastic. This place is always hopping, especially if the weather is nice! We stopped by around 4 on a Saturday to try their beer and grab some tacos from Dos Hermanos. First thing, love the food truck concept and Dos Hermanos is fantastic. The garage doors were open and patios were buzzing, but the bar was a bit of a disaster. I understand the order-at-the-bar concept, but have some sort of process to order drinks at both ends of the bar instead of a beehive down the entire bar. Few people were sitting at the bar and it took 15 minutes for a swarm to clear to grab two stools. We wanted to try their beers and have a flight and I think it is easiest to do that sitting at the bar and not on patio tables. Once we did get seats, people were generally respectful of the fact that you were there to enjoy your beer and not order in-between my husband and I. The bar tenders were attentive and the beer was great. I understand why Seventh Son is a Columbus institution. We would have stayed longer but the place was getting busier and all the people smoking on the patio was making me nauseous sitting inside at the bar... I guess that's a risk you take. read more

A great place to chill and catch up with friends, even a large group if you time it right. We brought a group of ~12 here on a Friday evening around 7:00 and had no problems grabbing a table. The space is open and airy, with plenty of seating out back. I love that they saved the old roll-up doors from the previously existing garage and that these doors can be rolled up to connect the bar to the outside. Decor is pretty simple--a friend characterized the benches out front as very reminiscent of the bier gardens he had experienced in Germany. The beer selection is pretty small, with 5-7 beers to choose from (a few of Seventh Son's house-made pours and a few others). Someone commented that they thought that perhaps Seventh Son started their brew process about 6 months off from when they were ready to serve their beers, but I'm sure this is something they'll work through over time (although it seemed odd that they didn't have a wheat beer). I did like that you could see all of the beer-making equipment off to one side of the pub. Food selection consists of whatever food truck is parked outside that day. With only one truck, I would guess that there could be a bit of a wait if the place was pretty crowded. Ladies, the bathroom seemed pretty clean (I think I'm going to start including that in my reviews from now on). Other reviewers are right--I think parking is pretty limited. However you can probably find a spot along the street in the surrounding neighborhood. But, be careful--I think there are some places around there that might make you nervous walking back to your car alone at the end of the night. For anyone looking to grab a beer with friends in the Short North area, this is a more mature, relaxed alternative to the drama-filled, hyper-sexed Park St. scene. read more

My go to bar!! It's nice to go to a bar that the lights are dimmed instead of needing sunglasses to go into a bar. I don't drink beer but come here anyways! They have scotch!! Which is semi hard to find in Columbus. I love the smell of the fire pit, you can be outside and not be gagging for air from second hand smoke. They allow dogs on the patio! It does get really busy but the crowd has a wide range, hipsters, families, yuppies, and local bar flies. Makes me feel like I'm in brooklyn :) I can bring my kids here without feeling judged. read more
