Wanted to search up something similar to high tea since that's what I love doing at new locations I visit and this place popped up. Boyfriend and I came after doing a cave tour so we were dressed in normal clothing, nothing too extraordinary. He had ordered water for us and we put in some teas and desserts. The tea was good but came in an extremely small pot in my opinion for the price (ranges from $5 to 8) for one person. The only issue that we experienced and that made us give two stars was the service. We had no service. We never received our waters and the people were attending to others and never came to us expect to drop our tea and food off. All the times we ever been to high tea or any restaurant, people come by and ask how is it and make conversation. That never happened here. I honestly wouldn't of mind it except it wasn't packed at all (pretty bare with people) and others were being catered too. I'm assuming it's because we weren't dressed up too par but this was a random event we wanted to add it to our day. The reviews here rave about this place but I see nothing to rave about. Wish we had their experience so I could write a better review. The place really was nice and relaxing but the way we were catered to wasn't. Again, I've been to numerous of tea time places and we never had an issue before with service. If you plan on going here, dress the part is what we've learned. read more

I have loved Seven Cups for years, and that's even more true now that other local tea places have closed. Yet, Seven Cups in all its glory remains! A friend and I came here to catch up last weekend and it was just as great as ever. It's a small cozy place, with lovely interior, traditional music and a relaxing ambiance. In a way, it's almost meditative. I've always been fond of the Silver Needle tea, but this time I felt more like an Oolong. The waiter asked if I wanted to go for something basic, but of course I decided to go big or go home. That's how I got the Big Red Robe Oolong, with its full tea service. I love getting the teas that come with a full tea service here. They pour the tea for you in a ceremonial manner and again, it feels sort of meditative. So, so relaxing. Their tea turned me into a tea snob I grew up drinking various green teas as a kid, but I really got into teas about 6 years ago when I was trying to not drink as much soda any more. Coffee was never my thing. Teas are a great caffiene because it doesn't cause the crash of a soda or coffee, and it gives my body a normal energy on those days after my insomnia kicked my butt. Anywho, they have lovely tea starter packs with green, black, and white teas. These make for fantastic gifts. Over time and assistance from the knowledgeable staff, I've been able to differentiate the flavors and develop a clear sense of what teas I'll drink for morning jolt, through the work day to keep me preset, and later in the day to kind of smooth things out. Definitely a neighborhood gem of Tucson. I absolutely love meeting friends here to catch up or for study dates. Seven Cups offers a wonderful selection of authentic chinese teas and a decent selection of "asian" snacks ( variety of chinese and japanese items). I've been known to sit here for several hours and study, sipping on my favorite floral slightly sweet tea (Osmanthus and Monkey picked wulong blend). It should be noted that as a Chinese Tea House, you'll have to go somewhere else for Darjeeling, citrus, chrysanthemum and the like. Instead, there's a wide selection of green, wulong, yellow, and herbal teas - each with a paragraph of explanation. What sets them apart is that Seven Cups prides itself in selecting teas from esteemed and producers from China. For about $5-7, you get your own teapot, which can be refilled as many times as you'd like during your stay. This place has some small snacks, but I'd recommend bringing your own, as they can be a bit pricey. If you do happen to want to try some, I'd recommend the bbq steamed buns. Seven Cups is a delightful tea shop with wonderful tea and excellent service. Their tea selection is quite extensive. The menu contains descriptions for every type of tea they offer, describing the regions each tea comes from as well as their tasting notes. Additionally they provide a list of beginner friendly teas who may be new. The service is very good. In the multiple times I've visited, my server has been very friendly and happy to answer any questions I may have (from favor notes, to background on types of tea, to history on the shop itself!). This place has been called one of the best places to drink tea in the country. Despite the accolade, it took me a while to get in here as I'm not a big tea drinker. The tea is great but I'm not an expert. However, the reviews seem to suggest that this is truly the case. The customer service really impressed me. After a very nice greeting, we sat down. But not too long after we did, the girl manning the entrance came up to us and got us up from out seats and gave us a "tour" of their teas located at the front of the store. We did not ask for this so it was a pleasant surprise. This girl was a legit tea junkie and was friendly, passionate, and super informative. She made picking the tea we wanted easier because there are A LOT of teas to choose from. The teas were delicious especially the matcha, which was prepared at the table in front of us. Very cool. Seven cups is quiet and has free wi-fi so it's a great place to study and offers a nice atmosphere. I like being surrounded by all the cute tea sets. When Seven Cups opened, I lived in Tucson and could almost walk there. Zhuping and Austin were so welcoming and warm, and their deep knowledge of tea was something they were thrilled to be sharing with the community. I've been here a few times and it's always a great experience! It's a nice, calming environment, perfect for sipping on some tea and munching on snacks. I try to get a different kind of tea every time I go, but my favorite tea is the white moonlight, I liked it so much that I bought a bag to take home! Their steamed pork buns are delicious and surprisingly filling, perfect if you want something light. Their lotus seed mooncakes are great as well, I always get some with my tea! Coming from a 100% chinese background I'm struggling to give Seven Cups the five stars that many people think this place deserves, simply due to the "unfreshness" of the food and the high unwarranted prices. The tea house itself is beautiful, many of the tea pots, furniture and decor remind me of my grandparent's tea room back in Shanghai. The teas are great and are of high quality, but I really have to ding this place on their "snack" menu. $2.25 for one tea egg? China Pasta House 2 mins away sells those bad boys for .50 each. The japanese mochis? $3.75 or was it $2.75? each? Those (the same brand) sell at Lee Lees or Grant and Stone market at pack of 6 for $4.00. The steamed pork buns? $4.00 for 2 little buns? $1.00 at china pasta house! The "Zhong zi" bamboo wrapped sticky rice at $5.75 is an outrage especially if they have been previously frozen. I also refuse to pay for 3 har gows aka shrimp dumplings that are frozen and then steamed in house for more than a dollar each. Going through the kitchen to the bathroom confirmed my suspicions, this place does not have a stove at all! Only 2 huge freezers side to side or 1 freeze+1 fridge and one microwave and 2 steamers side to side on the counter, what a disappointment. Unsure how this place can dare charge so much money for their snacks when they are not fresh. Their tea is also expensive.. they can go upwards to $10.00 for one person for one pot of tea, but it may be worth the price due to the high quality, but I refuse to pay for their food, I absolutely refuse. The mooncake I got today because I was feeling nostalgic and wanted to celebrate the Mid Autumn festival by myself was $3.00+, it was small and average, and definitely cold because it came straight out of the fridge. I typically opt for tea over coffees. That's why I'm so surprised it took me so long to visit this place. No Lipton or Red Rose here! In fact, don't even expect to find teas in individual bags, it's all loose here! I did not sit down and try their tea service although from appearances, it is laid out nicely. Instead, I opted to just browse the different teas they sell. Focusing on Chinese teas (although there are at least a couple done in the Japanese style), the offerings range from greens, to whites to Oolongs. This is the real deal! These teas are NOT processed or cut. The leaves are displayed in glass containers which you are free to open, smell, inspect. The tea you actually buy is sealed and packaged in individual packages ranging from 5 to 25 grams. They also sell "variety packs" covering a range of different teas from specific groups. Heck, even an avid tea drinker will experience sensory overload when trying to make a selection. But have no fear--descriptions are available for each tea. And if that's not enough, ask for help--the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgable. As for the tea? Well, it brews as I expected. Beautifully. Sublime, complex tastes and smells from each of the different Oolongs I've tried so far. Besides the tea, there's different spices used to accompany brewing tea, tea pots, etc... . Beautiful oriental tea room with a multiple page list of teas. Despite the small interior, it is a great place to share a pot over conversation, or to drink one by yourself and study. They have an authentic tea ceremony that you can make a reservation for, though I have never done that, nor have heard of anyone who has. We asked our hostess for her suggestion, since I was pretty overwhelmed by the dozen pages of black, green, yellow, and white teas. She gave fantastic suggestions and short descriptions of why she liked those particular teas. I'm on a continual quest to find new study spots and the ever-so-slightly cooler weather in Tucson has ignited my tea obsession, so I am delighted to have stumbled upon Seven Cups, a traditional Chinese teahouse. It's located directly across the street from Rincon Market, near the intersection of Tucson Boulevard and 6th Street. In terms of selection, I think my friend Tracey described it best when she declared "this place is the Cheesecake Factory of teas". The tea menu is extensive and detailed. Each tea is accompanied by a paragraph describing the region where the tea is cultivated and a review of its taste and aroma. But if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of your choices, talk with the owner, Zhuping. She's a certified tea master and absolutely loves to dispense her knowledge about the teas and the culture it has manifested. Every year she makes a trip to the Chinese countryside to personally source all of the teas she serves at Seven Cups. I think this is a great little business and I really enjoyed my time here. They have a seemingly infinite number of teas for every different taste. If you are in for the first time, the employees are happy to tell you how it works and offer recommendations. If I remember correctly, I had the Yellow Guan Yin oolong tea which came in a small yet ornate iron teapot. I let it steep for a few minutes and it was delicious. The flavor was very balanced and the employee was spot on about how long it should steep for. Employees are obviously very knowledgeable about the product they are selling. I believe my guest had a white tea, which came in a clear pot. She had added some "Chinese Herbal Boost," which is an option somewhere on the menu that offers additions like certain types of flowers to your tea. It really was a sight to see. We came right at the opening time for our book club and spent an hour or so just chatting with tea. I talked to the woman who had assisted us afterwards and she was very gracious about letting us sit there despite just ordering our two respective cups of tea. She said that, during busier times, guests are politely asked to leave after an hour or so, but when there are open tables, people can stay as long as they want. I thought this was very reasonable. The shop itself is very ornate and lovely. They have pots, different kinds of teas, and a great variety of decorations on display. I didn't get to look around for long but it is a comfortable atmosphere. Small dividers separate patrons from the hustle and bustle of the cars driving past so it feels intimate. The bathroom is well kept. My singular desire that would have improved my experience is that I wish I had been offered a food menu. It says online that they have light lunch/snacks. This was never mentioned to me and I would have taken them up on that offer and paid more for a small pastry or whatever.
