Great location and ambiance. Unfortunately the food is mediocre at best and the service is SLOW. Some of the typical Thai dishes have weird interpretations. For example, the Tom Yum soup had a tasty broth but was loaded with noodles so that it was more like a ramen bowl than a soup. The "red curry" was made with a sauce that tasted of coconut and soy with no trace of curry. The tofu in it was tough and leathery. Delicious!! We were actually looking for another restaurant and saw this one and decided to try it. Very good attentive service. Food was so fresh and tasty. In today's competitive industry, it is inconcebible that service is slow anywhere. The service at this particular restaurant was extremely slow, so slow that we left the bar without even ordering a drink. Actually we did order drinks but they never were made.I have one rule when it comes to dinning, if we don't get our first drink within 20 minuetes (we out). They failed the test badly. This is a review I should have written in September but it slipped my mind . Honestly I don't think I would go back to this location at all, I would perhaps go only to the one in the Quartier de Spectacle. We were only a group of 9 , under the 10 people limit which wasn't a big table of orders. 2 of the girls ordered the sharing menu, 3 of the girls ordered the exact same thing , 1 compromised her dietary restriction ( shes vegan but was served chicken?) & 3 of us ordered individual dishes. It's barely understandable to mix up 6 dishes and come out cold and the meat tough but it is completely not understandable how someone could mix up tofu and chicken, that's just irresponsible. The drinks were probably the highlight other than the birthday girl getting her dessert. The service was mediocre and it took them over 40 minutes to bring us our bills. Normally it is normal to do that when the restaurant is full, but as we looked around us , other tables were getting their bills except us . We had asked them if they can at least comp our drinks as a result but they said the value would be too much ( which made no sense since we've ordered maybe 60$ in drinks and over 100$ of food ). At the end they gave us 5$ off coupons which we gave away to random passerby's since we had no plans of returning . The food is great, but for the price of it, I would expect a sit down with service rather than a cafeteria style dinning. The food is really good. I ordered the general Tao lunch special which came with the option of a soup or spring roll, a drink and a main. The spring roll was somewhat disappointing. It was a little too oily for my liking. I also wish they provided a plum sauce for dipping rather than a fish sauce. Additionally, I was expecting it to be a little bit more bigger/thicker. The general Tao was by far the best I've had. The chicken is crunchy but full of ACTUAL chicken, rather than just breading. The sauce was also really good. It was not too sweet and just enough tastiness haha. The dish was served with rice and vegetables. Nothing to complain about the rice, it was cooked perfectly. As for the vegetables, they could have been steamed/cooked for a little bit longer. The broccoli was way too crunchy (also would've liked to have a couple more pieces of broccoli). Overall, great experience. The staff are super friendly and welcoming of new customers. My boyfriend asked the waitress if they were vegan and stressed he doesn't eat any animal products very politely. She assured him they were fine. The imperial rolls came out fairly quickly, there was 2 in a serving and they were fairly big. But they came with fish sauce. Thanks waitress. Unfortunately the waitress was so hard to find we weren't able to ask for a different type of sauce. We waited a ridiculously long time for our food. There were people who came in way after us being served ahead of us. The server wasn't friendly and we asked 3 times for water before getting any. To finally get to the food, both me and my boyfriend thought it was terrible. Mine had no flavor at all. None. I had to add a bunch of rooster sauce and soya sauce for it to have some sort of flavor. My boyfriend also had to add a bunch of rooster sauce, and also agreed it was bland. Neither general tso's or peanut sauce chicken should be flavorless. Perhaps the only good thing I can mention about the meal was the fact that my boyfriend's tofu was crispy, which doesn't happen often with tofu sadly. I've had the pad Thai here, my reaction is- meh. It's really heavy on the pad Thai sauce. I've also had the general tao poutine which I was so excited about because I love poutine and general tao is sometimes a guilty pleasure but the execution failed. The fries were not up to par. They were stingy on the cheese. The general tao was also wanting. However, I did come here once with a friend and they ordered a salmon salad that looked awesome. One word: amazing. My husband and I have been lucky enough to live in/near places known for their Chinese food (San Fran, Philly, NYC) and Sesame completely caught us off guard.
