Fries and spicy mayo!
Justine S.

Grenade is such a fun bar! Very trendy and hip. I visited with my boyfriend on a friday night at 9pm and it was pretty busy. According to the bartenders it really starts to fill up at around 10:30pm, when the DJ's arrive. Unfortunately, I wasn't hungry because I went after having my anniversary dinner with my boyfriend. He wasn't hungry either but we could see what everyone else was eating and it looked so good! The presentation was excellent. We did order some fries just to snack on. They came with some really good spicy mayo and some green onions on top. Really appreciated those. My boyfriend also ordered a beer (1664) and he said the beer selection was good. If you're ever in the area, plan a visit here! Will come back in the summer to try out their terrace :)

Drinks by the fire

Walked by this little bar on my way from dinner and stopped in because I saw the cool little fireplace with a few chairs around it and saw the lights hanging in the back and a little disco ball. Great atmosphere for a backyard feel. There's little blankets which is sweet reminds me of Paris at the cafes outside. Drinks were great. Service was a little slow hard to find or waitress or even to track here down to pay but she was sweet and gave us free shots :)

Tuna Tataki!

We arrived at 5pm, and were able to be seated at a reserved table which wouldn't be occupied until 7pm. Don't be fooled by the grunge-y exterior! Once inside you'll see a charming bar surrounded by tables, some with cushions! If you decide to go outside, there's a lovely garden terrasse with lights and plants everywhere! We ordered 3 entrees, a main dish, and a side of edamame beans. All of the dishes arrived one by one about 15 minutes after ordering, which really impressed me considering how fast the restaurant was filling up! Every dish we ordered was delicious, the chicken pad thai had a lot of chicken and egg in it which I really enjoyed, and the sauce was tangy and helped bring all the other ingredients to life! The calamari, crab cakes, and tuna tataki were all very impressive dishes, just big enough to enjoy without filling you too quickly. The edamame beans were tossed in a soy based sauce and caramelized onions, which I had not seen done before. And guess what: LOVED it! Quick and friendly service, incredible atmosphere, and worth a second trip!

This place used to be something else a lot more sketchy looking lol, but now it's a nice little spot with garden ligjts amd mini fireplace on the tables. Perfect for a 5@7 to mingle with friends or colleagues. Nicely decorated terrace and has a homely feel to it. The food was pretty good. We took the 5 tasting tapas and were happy with our choices: satay, tuna tataki, Thaï calamari and shrimp balls, mushroom rolls and chicken dumplings. My friend took a Pisco cocktail and really enjoyed it I would definitely come back here again.

as many previous reviews say don't be fooled by the exterior you walk into a warm cosy wonderfully decorated location. The lighting is mood which is perfect the Decour is absolutely gorgeous the outside terrace is huge and multi levels front and back. The Asian fusion style food is absolutely delicious. Their cocktail list is something great to be explored and you'll get great service from the bartender Julian . great time and will be back!

Great spot for 5@7 in the village ! In a quieter area though but still fun energy and great vibe ! Their terrasse is one of the best parts of coming here. It's very open, spacious and comfortable with lots of Space for groups with enough music for ambiance without being too loud. Our service was a little slow but it was pretty busy that night so that being said they still checked in on us and we didn't have to wait overly long for anything. The food was not bad -Asian fusion , mainly smaller dishes. we tried croquettes, steamed buns and grilled beef skewers all tasty and were nice as an accompaniment to drinks but I don't think I would come here just for food. Their cocktails were solid we tried their sangria and a spicy signature cocktail. I liked this place and I would definitely come back !

Great food at a decent price, lots of fun cocktails, great ambiance. Service might be a little slow when it gets busy.

Two words: Bloody Kimchi. On our first evening in Montreal, we visited Grenade, which was recommended by our host. It was a rather slow night, even though a Canadiens game was on. I had a bloody kimchi, which was surprisingly delicious and spicy. I loved it! Later, we had the poutine with pulled pork, the dumplings and the edamame. The edamame was served unexpectedly different than we know it: served in a dressing with sesame seeds. Everything was very tasty! We wanted to go back on January 1st, but unfortunately, it was closed.

Very nice place, gonna come back for sure. Reasonable price of alcohol and plenty choice of food, also the taste is outstanding in bars. Strongly recommend the fries!

We all agreed on 4 stars.....dont go here for prompt service, go for the drinks, food and vibe. Very cool place to go and some original concepts we enjoyed: steamed buns were yummy and was intrigued by all the different cool drinks to try. The gummy drink was fun and colorful!

Summer sangria!

Great Thai/Singaporean food and greatly priced drinks. It is the place to be, before more people find out about this place.

There are also sushi, chips, bubble tea and etc. That night my rideshare dropped me off close by; therefore, I could not say no to not going. This time I got the Nem Nuong but the Cha Lua and pate banh-mi is great as well. I find it a bit more "authentic". After 9pm, all the food in containers are 30% off. I forgot about that-got their at 9:03pm and a swarm of people rushed in. I am removing one star because I was charged for a 10 inch banh-mi but the lady used the 7 inch. Also, they are only $7.75!!!

My friend and I are from the SF Bay Area and found ourselves stuck in Montreal under unusual…read morecircumstances. We had been looking around for some food in the area, and my friend found this little banh mi shop. What a great find! The sandwiches had 7-inch and 10-inch options; we each went with the 10-inch and finished them quickly. My friend also got a spring roll and she said it was the largest spring roll she had ever seen. Service is fast and friendly, and the sandwiches are priced well (compared to banh mi's we get in San Francisco). I ordered the grilled pork sandwich (#5) and my friend ordered the #1 sandwich. I felt my sandwich could have used more meat inside, but the bread was delicious and the fillings paired well. The shop is quite small inside and seating is limited. They also heat your sandwich up so the bread has a nice crisp to it. Friend's Review: "Once you get to the middle, the ratio of bread to meat to veggies is good. The bread was super warm which made it enjoyable to eat."

Good sushi and sashimi! Tuna was really fresh and nice! Strongly recommend to try. Disclaimer: I am no sushi connoisseur but it was good!!

We had been asking around for the best sushi in the downtown Montreal area for some time and…read moreeveryone seemed to recommend Kyo, including the concierge at our hotel. In my opinion, not everyone gets sushi right, specifically with the freshness of the fish, so we were pleasantly surprised to find Kyo. Our group included 4 people who are absolutely obsessed with Sushi, and so I was curious what their take was. I tried the Snake roll, edamame, and requested an avocado/ cucumber roll which they made for me. The rest of the group tried the rainbow roll, chefs choice Maki combination, chefs choice sushi combination, tonkatsu pork, and the beignets for dessert. Let me start off by mentioning the incredibly kind service we received from the hostess, server, and staff the entire night. On an incredibly busy Friday night, they maintained their patience as the restaurant was completely booked, and were kind and pleasant in every interaction. The restaurant itself is beautifully located in downtown, clean, and spacious. You do not feel rushed to eat. The food was so good we have decided to go back for dinner one more night before traveling back home. The vegetables and fish are fresh, the portions are perfect yet generous, and overall, id rate this restaurant a 12/10. Highly recommend if you're in Montreal and looking for good food.
