Notwithstanding the fact that house cleaners make more than teachers, I am happy to recommend Jose Serrano cleaning services for house cleaning and window washing and carpet cleaning. The team is very thorough, very friendly and very professional. Jose communicates by text or phone call which is convenient. He is courteous and calls when running late. He is careful with my oriental rugs and does not use an overly-powerful vacuum on them. He does an excellent job deep cleaning the wall-to-wall carpets and he keeps the hardwood floors healthy and shiny. I am especially pleased with his care of the bathrooms' shower tiles. The grout stays clear of mold and soap residue. His prices are reasonable and I was especially pleased with his window-washing quote. I almost took one star off because he did not wash the outdoor sills; but I'm not sure if anyone does that. I never paid attention to that before. It was a bit disconcerting to spend so much money on the windows but see the bird droppings on the sill. If that is important to you, you might discuss it with the window washer. read more

Windows (inside and out), carpeted room, floors, baseboards, shelves, ceiling fans, and cabinets were all cleaner than when we moved in. Exceptional carpet cleaning service, one of the only few using the rotovac 360i in south bay, which takes bit more time and efforts than the typical "wand" but the results are much better Jose the owner is responsive to my calls/text and always arrives before or on time, he's very efficient and careful in his setup and puts in the extra efforts to ensure absolutely best possible cleaning for the entire area. Extremely unprofessional. Tried to set up a cleaning service by first making a phone call, then sending an SMS and finally sending a message on yelp, but no response. Cleaning is very mediocre. They do not clear the trash from kitchen and bathroom (All the cleaners I've had in the past do this) and do not clean the kitchen drain board (which is one of the dirtiest things in the kitchen). Jose's company did a fantastic job doing a move-out cleaning of my rental house. You don't have to have carpets to hire Serrano Cleaning Services - my house had all oak and tile floors. They even did a bunch of cleaning I had forgotten to ask for: pulled out the fridge and cleaned behind and under it, cleaned baseboards and window sills, all the Hunter Douglas shutters, etc., etc. Jose is very responsive to email, which I found to be a great convenience. Jose is a professional! I have used Stanley and Chem Dry on my carpets for years and tried Serrano Cleaning Services for the first time and I was very impressed. I was a little embarrassed as I had no idea my rugs were that dirty. My carpets came out beautiful and about 5 shades lighter. Since it's just my husband and I, the house is not too dirty and Jose comes once a month. But he and his team are SO fast. 4 people cleaned our 4bd/3ba house in an hour! I needed a whole house deep cleaning prior to putting my home up for sale. Although Serrano wanted to do the estimate over the phone I insisted on an in-home estimate to ensure that the cleaners would know exactly what I wanted and that the pricing would be accurate (supposedly, an in-home estimate cannot be increased). I was quoted a price of $610 for whole house cleaning, blind cleaning, and carpet shampooing for 4-rooms. I was surprised as I had anticipated paying twice that and checked again that my specifications would be met (cabinets polished with Murphey's Oil Soap, etc.) I understood that they could not move large furniture (ie., beds dressers) for the shampooing, but was shocked that they did not even scoot over chairs, coffee/end tables in order to vacuum beneath them! One closet had a few small items (lamp, bag) inside and they did not vacuum or shampoo it! If they were uncomfortable moving the stuff they could have asked me to do it, I was at my home during their entire visit. After 6 hours (with as many as 5-people working at once) they were finally finished, or so I thought. I came in and found that NONE of my furniture, wall hangings, décor had been dusted, cleaned, or vacuumed. When I called the company they explained that "Whole house cleaning" does not include furniture. Huh?? They argued that since I was moving out they thought there would be no furniture and quoted me based on that. However, during the initial walk-through I specifically requested that the pet hair be vacuumed off of all the upholstery and wiped off of all shelves, tables, etc. (I have a witness who has verified this). The kitchen cabinets also clearly weren't polished and when I showed the girls a bottle of Oil Soap they claimed that was what was included in their spray bottle (very diluted, did nothing even after a repeat treatment). The company finally agreed to let two of the housekeepers stay for an extra 2-hours at an additional charge of $60. I SHOWED them everything that I wanted done including running my fingers over framed wall art and showing them the dirt that came off. I told them that I wanted the entire upstairs and downstairs done. After 1 1/2 hours they said they were finished and I let them go. They were clearly exhausted and I actually felt bad for them. After they left I realized that there were entire rooms (ie., office) that had not even been touched! The furniture that had been "cleaned" had been wiped with a dry towel, anything that was crusty, sticky, or required more than a quick once-over was left. This was also true of the hardwood and tile floors. The company said they "lacked the equipment" to clean food out of tile grout. Hmm, a toothbrush has always been adequate equipment for me. While the couch cushions were vacuumed, the sides, backs, and bases are still covered with fur. The frustrating thing was that I was willing to pay more to have all of this done but was assured that it would be taken care of for the lower price, which is why I chose Serranos. So, now I have an open house this weekend and no time to hire new cleaners. I will be spending my entire day polishing cabinets, mopping wood floors (with an actual wood floor cleaner), moving small tables to vacuum beneath them, cleaning up crumbs from along the baseboards where they were pushed into by their vacuums, and shampooing the closet that was left neglected. One of my rooms contained exercise equipment and I decided that it didn't need shampooing, and while I was reimbursed the $35 shampoo cost for the room, they did not even bother to go in it to vacuum or clean anything! WTF?? The shampooing was a huge mistake anyway. My carpets are less than 4-years-old and after the shampooing the whole house reeks like a wet dog (no dogs have ever lived here). So I will also be renting a rug doctor and using straight water to try to remove the horrible stench. The only reason that I gave them 2 stars is because all of the workers were very friendly (though none spoke English and using their office assistance as a phone translator was difficult). The workers are fine, but the company itself is not. Consider yourself warned. read more
