I've been a loyal customer for years and this used to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Tucson--but after tonight's experience, I'm honestly shocked and disappointed. I placed a mobile order and arrived to pick it up, only to find that our cheese bread had half the cheese missing. When I politely pointed this out, the employee said, "I've been working here for 12 years and that looks good to me," and then walked away. No apology, no offer to fix it, nothing. I then asked another employee for his name, and she smirked and said, "You can ask him." At that point, I went to the counter and requested a refund. I was told their systems were down and it would take a couple of days, but that I'd be refunded. I sincerely hope that happens, but even more than the messed-up food, it was the rude and dismissive way I was treated that left me flustered and upset. It's incredibly disappointing to be treated like an inconvenience instead of a valued customer. I won't be returning. read more

Guests before us waited longer than we did for cheesesteaks. Guests after us got their pizza right away. Quality of the food was good! Ordered a burger and substituted a veggie patty. Got fries on the side and they were warm and fresh. We also ordered the chicken sandwich that was good as well. Tried to get tater tots as an upgraded side but we were told the only upgraded side option is fries, which is weird. That was a little annoying since you can pay extra for fries but can't pay extra for tater tots even though they have tots on their menu. The staff wasn't even willing to ask the kitchen if getting a side of tots would be an option. They have a large selection of beers on tap. Walk up counter to order your food / fast food style. Was prompted for a tip? ... so another 15% on top of my order. You're essentially tipping a delivery fee for someone to walk your food to your table from the kitchen. Staff never checked back in, you fill your own drinks, you bus your own table, etc. it's a fast food setup, but the owners want you to supplement the wages of the staff. Food came out 20min later and it was ok, nothing to write home about. I would say the food is not worth the price. I could have gotten a steak dinner with all the fixings for that amount of $$$. Also not sure why it's allowed but the kitchen was blasting music which was louder than the music in the dining area. Ended up with Kenny Loggins competing with a mariachi band. Walked into a very clean restaurant, very open, nicely lit, cool decorations, and a "welcome in folks" greeting from the staff. The food came out very quickly and looked as good as it tasted. We came for lunch and it was difficult to abstain from one of the 25 beers they have on tap. We will be back to have a beer and a pizza! I gave this place three chances and all three let me down. Which is a real bummer as I live in the neighborhood right behind it. I ordered pickup, and half my items were missing. this place is a hidden gem. you walk up and order your food and then are given a number to bring to your table. we ordered burgers and a side of fries. the food was delicious. everything about this place is clever. all of the items on the menu are themed in the name to different horror movie characters. there is a lot of beers from local breweries. Food was ok but not worth the wait Placed my order for a custom burger and fries. Took the restaurant 30 minutes to get my order out. I chose to do the custom burger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion pickles and cilantro mayo (I had asked for chipotle mayo, but the cashier rang up cilantro instead). The burger was ok. I had to add ketchup, as I felt it was pretty dry. The mayo was disappointing. There was hardly any on it and it did not add much flavor to the burger. Regular mayo is free while their flavored mayo is a 50¢ up charge. I did like the pickle slices they used. I chose their Cole slaw as my side for the meal. I enjoyed the slaw. I also had an order of their fries. They were good, but way too many for a single order. I wish that they did half orders or allowed substitutions to the current side offerings (baby carrots, Cole slaw, potato salad or a tiny bag of Lay's potato chips). Prices are on the higher side and that's fine if the food is worth it. $13 for a burger not bad, but to get fries with it, it's not an option so u have to order a full size order of fries for $8 so $21 for a burger and fries. That's pricy but fine if it's really good. Every time food has just been ok. This last experience the bun was soggy and the fries were so hot. So I'm assuming they made the burger realized they didn't have fries so let's the burger sit for a while while the fries cook and it ruined the burger.. We ordered through the online website which is super easy to use and no hard at all. We came during the time of pick up and we had to wait an additional 25mins. What made it worse was that people who walked in got their ordered before us and there was only one table who had their food already. There is something seriously wrong with the Cortaro location. Every time we have eaten here since it opened, whether just our family of 4 or with our in laws or friends, the wait for the food has always been exorbitant. However, we do enjoy the food and have never complained. But on Wednesday, July 19th, my husband and two daughters went there for dinner. We ordered at 6:10PM and still didn't have our food at 6:45PM. People who ordered after us started getting their food. We didn't order anything crazy...salad, two plain cheeseburgers, fries and a cheesesteak with NO SPICY peppers. I had to go up to the counter and ask the young kid what was going on. He got flustered and said he was going to go to the back and help them make our food but he left people in line. Within a handful of minutes, he brought our food out. The food itself was good. Except when I started to eat my cheesesteak, I thought it had a little kick. By the time I finished half, my entire mouth, throat and face were on fire. My husband looked in the other half of my sandwich and there were straight up jalapeños WITH SEEDS mixed in with the peppers. He ate one to see if I was being a baby and he immediate started coughing. They were extremely spicy. That was the last straw for me. I went up to the same kid and asked him to send the manager out. He came out annoyed and stood behind the bar and glared at me. I told him he needed to come out from around the bar and come talk to me at the high top table I was standing at. He was visibly pissed and annoyed. When I explained the situation, he rudely asked if I wanted a refund or what. I said yes. He stomped back around the counter and tapped at the tablet and went back to the kitchen without coming back to our table. As everyone else finished our meal, I was unsure if the refund happened or if he was going to apologize for the horrible service or mistake with my sandwich. Nothing happened. As we were leaving, I went back up to the counter to ask the kid if the refund happened. He said he would do it and tapped on the tablet for a minute. When he couldn't get it to work, he went back to get the manager and he stormed out of the kitchen and told me "I already gave you a refund, lady." I will say that was the wrong thing to tell me. When I told him his customer service was appalling, he said I was rude to him about coming around the counter and he shut down. He also had the nerve to tell me he had a really bad day. Keep in mind he never once apologized or attempted any de-escalation of the situation. We exchanged some loud words. If a restaurant's kitchen is backed up and people are waiting 40 minutes to get food, a good manager is aware and attempts to mitigate things by coming out and checking with customers, offering an appetizer or SOMETHING. This guy did nothing and inflamed the situation by being hostile and nasty to me when I called him out for his BS. After I marched out, I called the River location to ask to speak or the owners or have them call me back. The River manager listened to this whole story, apologized, took my name and number and said the owners would call me within 24 hours. They never did. So needless to say, customer service is clearly not a high priority for Serial Grillers. While the food is good when you actually get it, the extreme wait times and substandard service mean we and our entire family and friends will no longer be dining here. I especially will be going out of my way to warn anyone and everyone about eating at the Cortaro location. read more
