This was a great restaurant until the new owners took over recently. My Goddaughter's clams oreganato all had sand in them except one. I ordered the burrata app. The cheese didn't have the creamy center I expected. The prosciutto was sliced too thickly and was tough. Both were plated on a tomato half which was very hard and tasteless. My husband's arugula salad was fine. The skirt steak over pasta was far more raw than Al Dente. It was grossly undercooked. My husband's shrimp with tomato sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce. I ordered the ribeye with creamed spinach. There was perhaps a 1/2 teaspoon of cream sauce on the plate covered with a pile which looked and tasted like defrosted chopped frozen spinach. The ribeye was so tough that even with a steak knife I struggled to cut it. I was about to ask the waiter to cut it for me when the knife finally went through. I personally hate mashed potatoes. The menu mentioned the creamed spinach; it said nothing about mashed potatoes. I would have preferred something different that I would have eaten. The bus boy removed the bread before we were finished eating it. Later he grabbed the complimentary olives, a delightful touch, off the table and I had to speak up in a voice loud enough for him to hear me and return them to our table. The waiter bent over backwards to "make things right" for us. But at that point there was nothing that could have corrected the problems we incurred. Our waiter and his attitude was the only redeeming factor in our whole evening. What a disappointment! We ordered no dessert and since it's a BYOB location there was no alcohol on the bill. To pay $200 for a meal for three was a total waste of money that none of us were happy with. When I was speaking to the waiter, the owner came over and listened to our woes. No comment from him. No attempt to remedy the situation. What a negative attitude for an owner to have! We're sad to have lost the Sergio's we knew and loved. Cozy, high level Italian cuisine in a quaint atmosphere that reminisces of a little family restaurant in northern italy. Everything ive had here over the years has been perfectly done. The only downside is the price. It is very expensive. But, it is special. You get that high level restaurant feeling that you couldnt possibly make this food at home, and that is the difference. Most Italian food is easy to make and you can do it yourself , but the flavors here are what sets it apart from the other restaurants in the area. Nothing is overdone or underdone. My son brought me to this beautiful restaurant. This quiet place with wonderful music and beautiful decor made my birthday dinner a special one. The service was awesome and food was delicious. We sat down and a basket of warm fresh bread was brought to our table with butter on the side. We decided not to order wine, but their wine menu was excellent. My son and I were hungry, so we ordered penne with vodka. It came in a reasonable time. The pasta bowl was perfect size with perfect portion. The waiter brought Parmesan cheese with greater. We asked for freshly ground black pepper and dove into our pasta. Several types of water were available. We chose plane bottled water. Service was courteous. Ambiance was relaxed. We did not feel rushed and took our time to enjoy each bite of pasta. I also asked for dipping oil and a bottle of extra virgin olive oil was quickly brought to our table. Great little Italian place hidden in a parking lot from the world. This place is definitely a place to try if you're looking for good authentic Italian food. Atmosphere: The restaurant is located in a parking lot and hidden with a sign that isn't that visible. The decor is very dark and red which creates a romantic ambiance for their patrons. Food: The was just amazing. The portions were just right. Enough to get you full, but not enough to share. We ordered a couple of the specials that evening. One of them being a steak and a lamb pasta. The steak was cooked to perfection and the lamb in the pasta was tender enough to melt after each bite. Service: We had a great server that took the time to explain the menu and all of the specials. The server actually explained the menu twice because people were late picking up wine. This place is a hidden gem. You would never see it just driving by. Its right in between the walgreens and the lodi police station in a little strip of stores, all the way at the end. When you walk in, you automatically feel like you are in a old italian grandma's house with all the italian decor. Its a very romantic setup. The staff was SUPER. They read so many specials- almost too many. It could have been a completely different menu. They were quick with the food and helpful. For food, we got the calamari (it was ok- not bad not great), the spiedini (same) For entrees we got the penne vodka with chicken and the chicken sorrentino. Both were good. I've had better which is why i'm not giving it a 5 star, but it was still pretty darn good. For dessert, we got the chocolate mousse cake which was AMAZING.. We have a picky eater friend who we dine out with so he's the culprit ordering mozzarella sticks at a fine establishment like this, not me! Seriously, though, they're damn good mozzarella sticks so I ain't even mad at him. Beautifully decorated, intimate, romantic Italian restaurant. Perfect date spot. It's BYOB and there's a liquor store located across the street near the Burger King. Prices are very reasonable for the first class meal you're getting. Sergio also has another place in Clifton called Sergio's Bistro. The menus, service and everything are exactly the same. This Lodi location is larger though. You probably wouldn't know this place is here because it's located near Walgreen's in a small strip mall next to a sushi place. Sergio is a super nice guy. When you walk in he will greet the men with a firm handshake and the women with a kiss on the cheek. The food and service are always on point. I went to Sergio's Missione last Saturday night around 8:30pm. I really liked the atmosphere- dim laughing, nice decor, just what I was looking for. It was mostly older families. The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating! Food: We ordered the eggplant rollatini, clams on a half shell, and a special which was shrimp stuffed with crab meat. The clams were good and the shrimp special was very tasty (I posted a picture of it). I was a little disappointed by the rollatini because the sauce was not that great. It tasted like it came from a jar! [ I was spoiled growing up with ONLY homemade sauce :D ]. For dinner I got the salmon special and my bf got the veal francese; decent-size servings. The sauce on my salmon was very salty and the salmon was a bit dry. The veal was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We are big eaters so we cleared all of our plates- appetizers and meals. I would go back again to try different things on the menu. I really enjoyed the ambiance. The reason I gave 4 stars is due to the rollatini sauce not tasting homemade and the salmon being dry/salty. I live in North Jersey, good Italian food is not hard to find. I was here with my family and we had a 7:30 reservation. We arrived on time but did not get seated for at least 15-20 minutes. The waiter came over and brought us bread and some water and opened our wine and then never came back for at least 30 minutes... is this some kind of Italian thing? I got stuff to do here, lets go. After reading off their list of about 30 specials they offer i barely could remember half of them and i placed my order. The food took a very long time to come out and i felt like i was melting into my seat. The food was good. I think the menu options were great and everything was cooked perfectly. But the experience itself drops it a few stars in my book. I'll be nice and put 3 though. I don't know if i would come back here considering all the places for great Italian food around the area, this place is a bit pricey and i should have brought an over-night bag because i didn't know dinner would take almost 3 hours but it was good. If i can offer a tip or two, Have someone type up the specials for the day, not everyone can remember 30 specials and it probably will take 2 minutes to print a copy for each table. I neglected to write a review about this place when I went on NYE. First off, it was NYE and the line to get in was wrapped around the place (I later found out why). My boyfriend and I had a reservation and I was surprised to find our table READY TO GO in the midst of the chaos (which I enjoyed- ITS NYE!) The food was delectable. My boyfriends veal (special) was to-die-for and I had the fish special which was extremely tasty, a little over cooked to my taste but honestly, I'm being nit picky... The flavor was absolutely perfect, proving its authenticity. Fish isn't easy to please coming from a first generation American Italian. Sergio's proves to stand out from the crowd of Italian places I've been too. It's fish was certainly unlike other "Italian restaurants" (if that's what you want to call them) I've come across where the fish is just drowning in butter (NO THANK YOU!) With my parents straight from Italy, 4 stars on my first visit is impressive! The service was incredible. The place was absolutely SLAMMED and the waiters were all ON POINT. I have to say- I was also impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant. The location is VERY deceiving. It's certainly not a bad area, but it is right around/located within the major strips of Lodi so the charming and detailed decor when you walk in, is a pleasant surprise. I live in hasbrouck heights and I'm glad they popped up on my feed so I could review them and keep the location in mind. It's always incredibly awesome to find an authentic Italian place right around the block from where you live. HOWEVER this place is worth the drive if you are not local. It's one of a kind. I plan to go back on standard week or weekend day (a non holiday) to update my review... The wonderful place this was again. This is still one of my favorite places that I love to go to from time to time. It's been a while and I know I've written bad reviews before but ignore those I could've just been the night. Every restaurant experience is not always perfect but Sergios always goes out of his way. The man's got a big heart really cares about his business and his customers and it shows. Please support his local business at this time and give him the best you can possibly do. I suggest though from his review, in what he said to me is you don't know what goes on behind the scenes to the restaurant you don't know the sacrifice. Me writing this review is good for him but also more effect of what every elite should be considering when they do write reviews. Even if they're extremely negative experiences you never know what the restaurants going through. Please take this into consideration not just for this review but for others. Everyone's entitled to having a bad day but every business deserves a second chance. First things first it's BYOB! Come prepared but if not there is a liquor store near by. After a long time of hearing how amazing this restaurant I finally got the chance to come here this Saturday with my boyfriend and another couple. The restaurant is very romantic with an intimate decor and really beautiful to look at. We did not make reservations and we arrived there at 8 pm on a Saturday that was our fault but the host accommodated us and we only waited about 5-10 mins for a table. He didn't have to do that but I was so glad he did.. our meal was amazing. One thing that I strongly recommend is to really listen to your server when he is reading the specials for the evening..there are a lot but they are amazingly delicious and you definitely don't want to pass up the opportunity of eating some of those options. Once seated they brought out fresh warm bread and spicy olives along with olive oil with herbs inside. Try dipping the bread in the olive juice its really tasty. The waiter opened our wines for us and brought us a large bowl of ice because we didn't chill our wine like the idiots we are. As I looked over the menu I found so many things to choose from.. and after hearing that they had a stuffed artichoke appetizer special I was sold. Stuffed artichokes are one of my favorite meals ever and this one did not disappoint me and my taste buds. It was stuffed perfectly with a bread filling along with pine-nuts, salty capers and served in a yummy broth. I ate every last leaf of that artichoke and I'm craving another one as I'm typing this review. My boyfriend ordered the eggplant rolatini and he said it was perfect. For my entree I ordered the spaghetti carbonara. It was delicious and creamy in that silky sauce loaded with bacon. The only thing was that I found a screw from the pan it was prepared in, in my plate. But honestly I didn't find it till I was done with my meal and to be really honest I was white girl wasted and didn't care. My boyfriend told the waiter what I had found and as he apologized numerous times as I preceded to tell him its fine these things happen the food was delicious either way I was just happy I didn't choke on it lol. Regardless of what happened that didn't effect my review or my opinion of the restaurant at all, I realize things like this do happen and needless to say this is still 5 stars in my eyes and yes I still wrapped it up and took it home. Where do I begin?!?! After reading the reviews about this place...I knew I had to plan on going there when I wasn't timed and wanted to relax and catch up with old friends because reviewers said they were there for a long time. But if you want to go and get out...make a res for 6p and they'd appreciate your table for a 7pm reservation because the table of 4 next to us turned over twice. Our reservation was for 6pm and the place was empty...we were seated by Jose (fantastic FOH mgr) right next to the fire in the Blue Room = fabulous location! Photo below. FYI - By 7pm...it was standing room only. This place was hopping! To start...we were given delicious warm crusty rolls with oil and spicy olives. Our waiter rambled off about 20 specials...so you must pay attention bc you won't want him to repeat them all. For Apps, we decided on a mussels special(delish) mozzarella sticks (yummy) and fried calamari (perfectly cooked) Now listen carefully...the calamari comes with a very good marinara sauce AND a ginger sauce...once I tried it...I wanted a gallon of it...absolutely to die for!!! My hubby always orders Chicken Parm wherever we go and said it was really great...he couldn't finish it...that big of a portion. The couple we were with ordered Chicken Sorrentino and he said it was great and she had a salad with jumbo shrimp and loved it...they both cleaned their plates which says a lot! Now here's my order...I love salmon so I opted for the one on their menu...Salmon Croccante which is pan seared crispy salmon w/balsamic vinegar on top and mashed potatoes and green beans. The minute I took one bite I knew what this dish was missing...the ginger sauce from the calamari app...I asked waiter for a side of it and he brought it right away...can I say this made my dish a 10!!! Everything on my plate was fresh and cooked perfectly and I devoured it!!! Now it was time for dessert! We all got a cappuccino and they were on point! My hubby got a cannoli...said it was great...our friends got the tiramisu...loved it! But then I got the must delicious of them all...are you ready...white chocolate bread pudding...there are no words for this dessert except You.Must.Try.It!!!!! So when all was said and done the bill totaled $190 (b4 tip) and we all agreed that this is forever going to be our place. Was very sad that I spoke with someone who was very rude and short with me on the phone. All I wanted to know is that door dash said that they pickup/deliver between 4-1030 so I was just calling to see if that delivery service runs now since they are open or do I have to wait till 4. I come to Sergio's often for lunch. The atmosphere is really cool - complete with deep red colors, cherubs, funky light fixtures and curtains. They ALWAYS have a long list of specials but I usually get the Caesar salad (w. the dressing on the side) and the eggplant rollatini appetizer. The salad is crispy and the dressing is excellent. The eggplant rollatini never disappoints, which is why I order that about 9 times out of 10. You get warm sliced bread while you wait for your food (and if you're lucky, you get the rolls which are amazing - soft and fully inside with a crispy crust). This place is a byob so come fully loaded. The prices are fair - but certainly not "cheap." The food is really good though so you get what you pay for. The portions are pretty big too! I really used to love this place. The food and flavors are reallly great. However the service has been seriously lacking. We took my mom here for her 60th birthday dinner, as she does love the food. But the service was off, food wasn't as great as it usually is. And to top it off we brought a specialty ice cream cake (they charge a cake fee) in a freezer bag that was completely frozen when we brought it. Someone must have forgotten to put it in the freezer, because it came out completely melted. They brought it out and had to rush it away instantly. They weren't apologetic. I had called after, and was told Sergio would call me but he never did. Again, we gave them another chance last night. But the service was the worst I've ever experienced, ever! He took our order and NEVER came back. Anything we needed attended to we had to grab a bus boy to bring it out, which took 2 asks. We waited 1.5 hours for our dinner after our appetizers. It's like our server was not aware, and never checked to see what was going on or to give us an answer. We sat down at around 8:15pm and didn't receive our entree until after 10:30pm. We were offered dessert which we didn't even really want at that point, and the server threw it on the table, and continued to be off putting. It even took forever to get the check after. My entree was the pork chop which was dry. They never completely cleared apps from the table. Never refilled water. I never got a Diet Coke I ordered. Another person never got chili flakes they asked for. I used to recommend this place to people. I won't continue to do that. I understand things can get crazy on a Holiday. But to a certain extent. Sergio's is a throwback to the old school Italian joints my grandfather and father used to frequent. Great owners, great service, great food, and reasonable prices, what's not to like.... I used to frequent Sergio's original restaurant in Clifton, now closed so he can concentrate on this newer, larger spot. I haven't been to this new spot, but as we entered, Sergio recognized me and after greetings, whisked my lady and I to a set in wall table slightly privatized by sheer curtains, allowing you to be part of the crowd, but have enough seclusion for intimate conversation. Happy to say, the sangre red walls and the biblical cherubs and paintings made the journey to Lodi, setting a surreal vibe. What also traveled well was the excellent service steered by head waiter Oscar who cheerfully opened the vino and recited the always wide array of specials offered nightly. The staff was exceptional, filling water and clearing plates timely but not being intrusive. Sergio checked on us throughout the night, making sure our evening went well. We settled on stuffed meatballs and oysters Rockefeller style. In short order, 3 large provolone stuffed meatballs appeared and a plate of 8 large oysters. Both were quickly dispatched, as they were perfectly seasoned and tasty. Next up, we split a plate of orecchiette alle cime di rapa, ear pasta, LOL, grandfather's joke due to its shape, actually an old school pasta from Apulia and the surrounding southern italian areas, this version included sausage, again well executed and a healthy portion. Main courses were squid ink risotto and scallops for my lady, while myself settled in for a nice swordfish steak. No complaints from either of us, as the entrees were polished off and the 2nd bottle of homemade vino nearing the bottom. Oscar appeared and took our dessert orders, a fine tres leches cupcake for her and a slice of pistachio ricotta cake for myself. Decadent, they went well with her cappuccino and my double expresso with a gratis shot of liquid sugar provided by Oscar. Fully sated, we expressed our gratitude to Sergio and Oscar promising to make regular appearances. Our waiter took the order from everyone and forgot to ask 2 friends what they would like to eat. Then he disappeared for 30 min and my poor friends asked the manager where is our waiter. Finally he showed up and I had to say him that he needs to pay attention to my guests, give us appetizer plates, and bring more bread and water! I don't know his name but he was very rude. Never again. we have been regular customers, not every week, but we go there when we would like a nice dinner with friendly staff and pleasant ambience. We arrived at 5:40 for a 6pm reservation hoping that we'd be seated at one of the side tables, as requested on the phone a week prior to making the reservation. But they were busy and we were seated at a table for 2-fine. There were more 2 large parties going on. We ordered our appetizers and entrees. The appetizers came after quite a while-longer than usual-fine. 45 minutes later, no entrees, but multiple waiters carrying trays loaded with plates for the 2 parties were coming out the kitchen, often. We finally asked if our food was coming. We were told 'a few more minutes'. We spoke to the owners wife-she said she would check, but she set up another table for 8 in the meantime. We asked for the check and the owner's wife asked us 'what did we order'-----really? After getting the check for only our appetizers with no apology or any sort of nicety, I let the Owner know that we were leaving without ever getting our entrees. He actually got in my face and said in a very rude, agitated tone "what do you want me to say "? If the owner doesn't know what to say to customers having to leave because they didn't get their meals---i'm not sure how to respond to that. I never leave a review-good or bad, but this was unacceptable. I'm sure it will not make a difference to the establishment, because as long as they have parties and a crowded restaurant, our business doesn't matter. BUT we did give them business during and through out the pandemic because we cared and didn't want to see them close. We won't be going back again. read more

OMG!!! This is definitely a 5 star place. And for sure the best place to eat in Lodi! From the moment you enter you feel in home. Sergio, the owner is in the front with a big smile to welcome the customers he will take you to your table and poor your wine. The menu very classic and balanced with typical Italian food which is DELICIOUS! But if you really want to taste the real deal you should order from the specials. The chef really knows how to amaze the customers. The service is impeccable. My water was always full. The bread warm and the spicy olives delicious!! It is a BYOB place but if you forget there is a liquor place across the street. 100% recommend this place you will love it! read more

Sergio and staff are some of the most welcoming people I have ever met. They have always treated their guests as family. I have been going to their restaurants for 5 years and never have had a bad experience. We have celebrated birthdays, Mother's Day, etc. and the service and food has always been top notch. I have read some poor reviews for this place and would like to clarify some things. 1. They DO NOT discriminate against any race, nationality or religion. Everyone is always greeted with a smile and a hug. 2. This place is NOT takeout quality. If you think it is, you don't know food. 3. If you are waiting awhile for your food, it's because every dish is made to order. It's not sitting under a warming lamp. If you don't want to wait, go to Burger King across the street! Outstanding Italian food! The owners/ management here are top notch. They always remember their regulars and always take great care of me when I come. Very old school vibes to this place (which I LOVE!) Last night had the chicken with spinach and peppers, and the mushroom ravioli was incredible. Must try! I have so many positive things about this restaurant. First, when I called to make a reservation I called to the one in clifton (very friendly guy who answered the phone). Unfortunately they couldn't accommodate 20 people for my mother and I's birthday dinner. The gentlemen recommended this location. I called to this location and again, I spoke to a very friendly guy. Making a reservation for 20 people and the day before, only took me less than 10 mins. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by this sweet girl who took our coats and directed us to where we were going to be seated. At 330 in the afternoon, this restaurant was packed. They reserved us the second floor in which was very nice and intimate. I felt in love with the simple decor and how private it was. Everyone in my family loved how intimate our dinner was. Our waiter was Leo, who was FANTASTIC!!! He was all we needed when it comes to service. For appertizers we had fried calamaris and eggplant. We had other things but I cannot remember the names. All I can tell you is that everything was delicious. For our main entree, I ordered the lobster ravioli with shrimp and a mushroom sauce(it was to die for). Everyone in my crew enjoyed their dinner. Portions of the food we're perfect. FYI, this place is BYOB. I have to say that my first experience at this place was EXCELLENT and I look forward to creating more memories at this location.
