This place, while the food was great, gets 3 stars from me because service could definitely be better. First the good. The food is well done. I mean REALLY well done. My Cuban Sandwich was a great size for the price I paid. The bread was crusty and hot and the pork and ham nice and warm. Great taste and texture contrast. Now the bad. Service could definitely be better. There were so many times that our table got ignore or order would be taken halfway around the table and suddenly stop, meaning half our table got food before the other half. While I understand it was a busy Saturday morning, it would help if the servers could be a bit more attentive. It took me an extra 15 minutes to get my check after everyone else in my group had got their AND paid for their meals already. So please, don't change the food or how you make it. Just improve the service. Once that happens, another star can be added. read more

A version of its former self . That's what I would say about the current Sergios. The portion of the food has gotten smaller and smaller. Twice I bought palomilla steak to go. First a few months ago and yesterday. No change. Actually portions was smaller. Plus the rice was undercooked. Raw in some parts. This was totally unacceptable back in the day when Sergios was probably managed by different people. I ordered a big soup. When I saw the size of the container, I asked if there was a mistake. The girl said "that's the size of the big chicken soup . It has always been like that" No it wasn't. The other Cuban restaurant at 8th street still keeps the same size of the soup. Enough for 2 people. Sergios size is like for 2 spoons and you are done. Now the palomilla. Stale. Nothing to write home about. Probably the old Sergio sizes and tastes won't ever come back and that's a shame. read more

Last time I went to Sergios was for dinner but boy did their breakfast make a huge difference! I went a couple weeks ago because I was n the mood for a "Cuban" breakfast with Cuban toast and cafe con leche so we decided to give it another try. So glad I did. My husband was in the mood for a pan con tortilla. It was H U G E!!! I ordered the South Beach platter with scrambled eggs white with ham, onions, spinach, tomatoes and peppers. It was a pretty big portion. Very tasty too! Plus a side of their Abuela's French Toast. Hubby knows how much I love guava so when he noticed it on the menu he urged me to get it because of the guava topping plus coconut flakes. My gosh it was so freakin G O O D! Tremendo creation! Horrible service. Item missing from order. Once I called to claim the replacement of item, it was refused and staff hung up on me while I was talking to them on the phone. Seems as if I was bothering them with my call and claim. Very rude and uncaring. Will take my business elsewhere. There are other options near by. Sergio's is not the only option in town. At this rate good luck to them. I've always seen leaving a tip as something you do for service when you dine in. since pandemic started I started tipping for pick up for obvious reasons. I ordered the following via uber eats: a ropa vieja with two sides (broccoli and grilled veggies) for $15 only to receive the tiniest portion I have ever seen. The broccoli included literally three pieces of broccoli (which they charged me .99 more!!!) and the 'grilled vegetables' were one grilled green pepper (which I had to toss put because I HATE peppers) To top it all off they sent ropa vieja in a tiny tiny container (couldn't have been more than two ounces). I feel like you can never go wrong with sergios not just because of the food but the service. The waitress here are always so sweet and kind. I had the guava mimosa and it was so refreshing, it had strawberries and blueberries inside. Also, I had the pollo a la plancha with rice and means(love their beans). This location itself is very cute. Food is alright. I can't really say this chain is on the top of my list, but like I said, it's alright. The complimentary bread is really good though and their croquettes are pretty good too. They have a variety of empanadas, so that's pretty cool. General menu though is not too large. Not too varied. They seem to be trying to go for some kind of trendy- fusion restaurant. They came up with cuban nachos and black bean hummus - not sure if it's their best bet. How to rate this place? As a straight up Cuban restaurant based on just food and ambiance? How to account for the fact that alone amongst the Myriad of Cuban food in miami they actually have healthy sides and entres? Heck they even have lactose free milk so lactose intolerant people can have their cortadito? They put effort into salads as opposed to most that give you a plate of lettuce with a a couple of tomatoes on it. I'll start with the food. It's all straight up traditional and very good but when you compare to the gold standard (Havana Harry's or malanga cafe) it's maybe at a 3 vs their 4 or 5. They have some great appetizers but I am old school and their mariquitas are pretty good. On this visit I had the masitas de Puerco and while good an juicy they don't come up to the best which is a crispy outside with a warm center. Then again the cauliflower rice was pretty good and saves like 200 calories from white rice. Their beans are pretty good although I would like a bit more flavor from ham and onions (sofrito). My wife had the vaca Frita which again was good but I personally like it crispier. Service is excellent and the ambiance is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. This is a chain with several locations around town. I usually prefer the coral way location (better service, nicer outdoor setting ). Free parking which is becoming a big deal in the 305. So bottom line I give it a 3.5. If you are from out of town try this place. it's a nice place to taste Cuban food, if you are a Cuban food lover and want the best food see my comments above. read more

This place was amazing. Went to UM this morning for an appointment. After leaving the office, my doctor told me to go on Miracle Mile. There was many restaurants. Was looking for Cuban food. Stopped at Sergio's. The food was amazing, I had the Lechan (Pork). Came with boiled yuca with a marinade. Rice, beans. My mouth couldn't believe it so tender and juicy, even got some on my shirt. Took my mom too. She had the Pollo ala plancha. Also great. Finished with a super amazing tres leiches cake and a cappuccino. The staff was great too. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Typical looking Cuban restaurant. It has very nice outside seating . They also have good amount of free parking . I usually come here to get a quick cuban coffee or a cortadito , I think they make them really awesome here . The Cuban coffee is really strong but also has sugar so it doesn't have that very strong bitter taste. The cortadito with evaporated milk is super yummy it's like a latte but with more calories and tiny . The service they give you is pretty average, if they are really full it might be a problem. The food is pretty good usually get breakfast. One thing I really like about them they open early and close very late ; so if you have the munchies this is your place. I've been going here for years! Was there last Saturday, while waiting on Hurricane Dorian to pass us, and was happy to see they are looking to expand that location. They've made more parking spots, which was needed, and soon will have more indoor seating. The food is amazing, and their Flaca Menu makes you think you are cheating on your diet! SOOO GOOD! And the papa rellena was so comforting and good for breakfast with perfect cafe con leche. Food is amazing! I also came out for when they had the world's largest croqueta party and it was a fantastic event, even the mayor came out. I am a fan of their breakfast and the avocado salads. Generous portions and all the breakfasts come with warm buttery Cuban bread. Service can be improved (quicker at taking orders) but I also understand there is a staff shortage nationally which affects timing. Their pastries and empanadas are also tasty and filling if you need something quick on the go.
