We have been going to Sergio for years. Is our background kitchen. Today we went at 5pm. The hostess on duty was a total nuisance. We got there, asked for a table for 4. The hostess offered us a table outside that needed to be clean, besides a table occupied by a smoking client while having a complete area empty. She said the area was closed. We asked again if we could be seated on an empty table but she kept saying that the area was closed. We ended leaving. We can understand that they might be understaffed but the hostess's attitude as a first impression had much to say. We will think again before going back. read more

We stoppped for breakfast on a Saturday morning not having a clue of what to eat (out of towners). We found parking with ease & were seated right away. We opted for outside seating dispite the overcast. They had "Big Ass Fans" that kept us from melting. Our server was generous & served us promptly & was very attentive the entire time! I've been a loyal patron for years. Recently, the menu has changed and I must say it's definitely for the better. The brunch options are phenomenal. Highlights include eggs Benedict served on Cuban toast. You can choose between adding bacon, ham or salmon. You can't go wrong with any selection. They are all delicious. Secondly the items are decently priced and so are the mimosas and bellinis on the weekends. The outdoor patio is always a great seating choice. As far as the service, they're always on point. Crema de Malanga has soothed me of every ailment I've ever encountered. Luckily, they make it here which is the reason why I love them so much. I'm a vaca frita kinda girl but they have plenty of other dishes I've grown to love as well. Only they understand me when I ask for A LOT OF LIME because I basically put it on everything and it's a requirement for me in every dish. They also have some modern twists to the traditional dishes which work for people who have a different palette and even for picky kids. The ventanita is the way to go if you're there for a quick colada or empanada. They even deliver for those lazy days on the couch when you can't fathom moving. The best way to get into this Sergio's parking lot is by heading East on Coral Way (it's an easy right turn once you pass the McDonalds off your right). If you're going West on Coral Way it will be a difficult approach because U-Turns for the most part are illegal. This Sergio's opens at 6AM. They offer an amazing breakfast selection. Their "La Flaca" menu offers healthy choices for those gym rats or maybe just anyone looking for a healthy bite. The women that work here always provide excellent service. This Sergio's has a huge parking lot compared to the one on Bird Road just east of 97th Avenue (I think?). There's an outside counter/window for quick orders like a cafe con leche or a croqueta (Cuban protein stick). They accept all kinds of payment forms. Where can you go on a Friday night when you want to watch the rest of the Yankees game AND eat Cuban food? Malanga's was too far -- so we headed to try out the nearby Sergios. And we lucked out sitting in front of one of the few TVs. We were served a heaping basket of Cuban bread topped with a bit of cheese. The basket didn't last long. I went kind of Gringo. Ok, make that very Gringo, with mojo shredded chicken, mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. Very delish. The rest of the group got a wide assortment of dishes. I just ordered door dash and the food was warm when it arrived. Tasted like homemade Cuban food. Ordered the chimichurri chicken with rice and black beans. Let me preface this by stating that I come from an entirely Cuban family and accordingly, am a really tough Cuban restaurant critic. This chicken chimichurri is juicy but still light and tastes like it was just grilled on a charcoal grill. It's absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The white rice is also well cooked, which we all know, is hard to come by in a Cuban restaurant. The black beans are the perfect consistency.. not overly watery and not overcooked mush. The food is delicious. I will gladly order this again. An added plus is they are open until 11pm on Sundays. read more

Being that this our neighboring Sergio's restaurant, we visit often and multiple times every week. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner; they never disappoint! For starters, their breakfast items are delicious. Our top favorites are their pancakes and egg combos. I love how they also include a separate kids menu for the same items but at a smaller scale. We sometimes order pastelitos or tequeños to share because they're THAT GOOD!! Lunchtime can get very busy! If you're ordering delivery, expect a lengthy wait unfortunately. Their pan con bistec is a staple in our house. The croquetas are always hot out of the kitchen and their array of soups are always a treat. My favorite is the gizo de maiz or crema de malanga and/or the traditional chicken soup. Dinner time is the most popular because there's no other vaca frita like Sergio's vaca frita with moros and maduros. Their Cuban fried rice, grilled chicken, masas de puerco and steaks are all a must! I don't think we've ever been dissatisfied with any of our orders. Again, their kids menu is a huge plus for parents. At the moment, they're undergoing a huge construction project remodeling the inside and outside of the restaurant. Indoor seating isn't allowed but they have a couple of tables set up outside if you wish. They are offering curbside pickup, delivery or take out as well. La ventanita is still operating but all employees are wearing masks and behind a plexiglass. Honestly, they're doing an amazing job accommodating all the new COVID regulations. Had a horrible pickup order experience. I ordered probably 3 hours ago. I showed them my order nobody seems to have an answer. They finally went into the system and supposedly found my order. Then an 30 minutes later passed and i still dont have my food. I only ordered pallomila steak and beans and yuca. I asked for the manager 30 minutes ago and i can see him talking shop with other coworkers and joking. The organization of this restaurant is horrible. As im taking my time writing this i still havent been provided a solution. Ive already paid so im being looked over as it doesnt matter. Advice if youre ever in miami there are plenty of places you can go to that you can receive better food of the same style with better service. The restaurant is not busy theres 8 tables and it isnt near capacity. They have a full staff with bussers servers and hostess and nothing. read more

We were starving so didn't have time to take pics of the chicken and chorizo croquettes. They were delicious we added the lime they gave us and OMG what a change it makes. Also our favorite empanada was the Maduro and carne ... sweet but savory! When you go to Miami especially a Cuban staple like Sergio's you CAN NOT leave without have a cortadito. They currently only have take out and not every location is open but if you do find one near you GO! Following the advice of my fellow Yelpers after the talk thread inquiry, and mindful of a pre-Yelp visit awhile back, I ended up at Sergio's tonight. Learning about things like hubs, routers and Firewalls for 5 hours straight can make a man hungry so I started with what turned out to be a huge plate of mariquitas (plaintain chips) - chips, there go those computer terms - to be dipped in their hevenly garlic sauce. These came out with the bread and were closely followed by the meal so I couldn't finish them. However the mariquitas would be great to munch on throughout the meal or while recovering from drinks at nearby Club Renaissance. Main course was the Chimi-Chicken. It's a fancy name for the Pollo a la Plancha served at most Latin restaurants, but topped with chimichurri sauce. It was certainly an improvement over the one served at El Pub. Although the chicken breast appeared smaller here, it was leaner and you didn't taste the grease. The Moros were also lean. and even had a bay leaf for garnish. Flan was good; I liked that it was aerier (not as creamy as other places). The sweetness was also just right. Ambience: after a long night of school, it was a pleasant sight to be treated to the cougar eye candy getting ready for a night of fun at the Club. While on the ambience though...the Muzak could stand some cheering up. It seems that every time Ive gone (even pre-Yelp) they play the sappiest ballads - think the Delilah show on 97.3 only sadder). If the place is decorated as a tropical place, cheerier music would be much appreciated. The soda refills were also a little slow in coming. Still and all, for the food quality (and the cougar crowd ;) I will definitely be back. PS - Even though the place is named for me, I still didn't get a free meal. read more

Great place to order delivery from for lunch at work when you're in the mood for some good Cuban food. I ordered morro, boiled yuca and the mojo shredded chicken. Everything was extremely flavorful. I have been coming to this location for over 15 years and I am sorry to say I will not be coming back. I have always loved their Vaca frita and it used to be delicious, last night it tasted like bottom of my shoe (suela vieja), I think it was at least a day old, the quantity was tiny compared to any other times, I don't eat much and I always used to be able to eat twice with one serving, this time I ate and didn't even feel full. The mojitos... omg los mojitos, it was sugared water with a piece of grass in it, they used to be amazing, absolutely terrible. What can I say about this place.. I feel as though their "big expansion and renovation" they've gotten a lot busier and hace sacrificed service and food quality. I took a friend that was visiting from Germany. He, of course, was enamored by "something different", but I was like meh, plus the server was just so blah, dont know if it had been a long day for him or whatever, but he was so concise with us. The server was a Cuban male, and I noticed another Cuban male sat close to our table, and our server was a bit more upbeat and attentive. This spot is super cute with delicious, authentic Cuban food and a dedicated staff. We had chicken soup - classic Grandma style - fried malanga (a root vegetable), Vaca frita, tamales and a Cuban sandwich. We were sharing the Cuban sandwich so they sliced it up for us - big, juicy layers of pork and ham. The tamales were fresh and savory. I love other chain Sergio's but this is second time I've ordered delivery here and they've failed to provide good service and food. I placed an online order at 11am and set the time to arrive at 11:45... 12:15 rolls around and I'm starving so I give this place a call to check the status. The lady on the phone tells me the computers are "broken" and they probably didn't receive the order ... WHAT! So I ask, as anyone would, why have online ordering if it "doesn't work" she then asks for my number and miraculously the ticket comes up... she repeats the order and says that it hasn't been sent yet because something with the computer and the ordering. Okay, so you got the ticket... the order was placed.. but there's something wrong with the computer so you can't send out the prepared meal?? Whatever. I ask for the new timeframe to be delivered and it was about half an hour. My coworkers and I sucked it up and waited only because finding another delivery at 12:15 in coral gables would have been a NIGHTMARE. The food arrives and I swear my piece of chicken was no more than 4-5 oz! I understand it's the la flaca but that was the smallest piece of chicken ive ever received from there and I dine in the kendall location quite often. The roasted vegetables I received were charred and absolutely disgusting. They tasted like nothing more than burnt remains not to mention I received one piece of red pepper, 4 thin slices of zucchini and 1 slice of eggplant.. for an additional .99 cents? The Maduros were the only good part of the meal. I had also requested for sides of chimichurri for my chicken and for my coworker and they didn't bring it. Wonderful. So now I have a bland, dry small piece of chicken that amounted to No more than 8-10 bites and burnt veggies which didn't even equate to the same amount of bites and 3 maduros... that doesn't sound appetizing does it. So extremely frustrated especially because the order was already 30 minutes late and then didn't arrive until 12:40 when I placed it at 11am to beat the lunch rush ... they still charged a $4 delivery charge even though they messed up and to top it off the food was terrible. My coworkers meal also came cold but at least it was edible and had flavor, not just a burnt taste. Never delivering again. read more

I honestly don't know what is going with this place lately. Maybe a change in owners? Or just a lousy service period? I ordered a churrasco for delivery, and after an hour, the food arrived. I asked for the meat to be cooked medium-well, but it came medium rare! When I called the restaurant, I was transferred from person to person until I was able to speak with someone. The "manager" offered to redo my order, and to my surprise, the meat came overcooked!!! I don't know if they are doing this on purpose, but this is a really bad joke! Restaurants nowadays don't care about the customers, and they keep forgetting they are in business because of us! We pay for your services, and with our money, we keep you up to float!
