Been going here for many years. Went the other night with a friend. This visit was very disappointing. Hostess didn't crack a smile all night. Food was so-so, at best. Overpriced for what it was. What happened to the pretty decor? Swathes of fabric and soft colors. Now it's dark and drab-black ceiling and walls. C'mon, really? In Seattle, a city which gray for months of the year, really? This place is amazing...like mouthwatering, think of it at least twice a month, can't wait to go back, top 10 dining experiences kind of amazing. The service was top tier; our server was friendly and attentive despite it being totally packed. It gets very busy here so definitely make a reservation! He was prompt but didn't rush us and even brought us a taste of red wine on the house to go with the red meat :') so thoughtful! The braised short ribs became an instant hit and I'm really hoping they still have them next time I go! If not I'm sure whatever I end up with will be equally as delicious. The meat was tender, flavorful, and balanced. The portion seems smaller but I was full after the meal and left completely satisfied. Such a beautiful restaurant! Parking was relatively easy on a weekday evening. We made a reservation pretty easily for a party of 4, but there were many open tables so you may not even need a reservation. The host stand is located more centrally in the restaurant, so you'll have to walk a bit inside before checking in. We tried the focaccia, asparagus, and arancini. The olive oil with the focaccia was lovely and the asparagus was flavorful with tasty boquerones and the arancini were nice and moist on the inside. For mains we had a seasonal salmon risotto and the eggplant melanze. Everything was so delicious and portions were pretty generous. Would definitely recommend this place for a cute date night. Location--Corner location, outdoor dining, no view of lake, pets okay--I witnessed a dog patron on the patio with their owner, parking was non-existent. Service--after FINALLY finding a parking spot, we walked into the restaurant. There were only three of us (my husband, daughter, and myself). She asked how many, and I stated 3, then she said it would be a 15-20-minute wait, and we said okay. I noticed that she did not write our name down. We asked for a menu to get an idea of what their dishes and ingredients were and the hostess handed us a paper menu. We proceeded to wait outside. There were many empty tables and yet there was a wait??? Extremely puzzling... Ambiance--As we drove past, it seemed nice but once we parked, and walked in, the restaurant seemed tired, dark and not fresh. In a Nutshell--The experience was not great, and it did not feel welcoming for tourists who were exploring Seattle, like us. The entire time we waited, the bartender and waiter stared at us but never offered us an update on our table. After waiting for about 15 minutes, my husband walked in, placed the menu on the counter and we left. Background: We are from Southern California who were exploring the lake area when we got hungry. I've been wanting to try Serafina for a while now and can happily say it's definitely worth paying a visit! I met my friend here for happy hour and we sat near the bar. Highly recommend the spritzer on the hh menu! It's worth mentioning that happy hour is only in the bar area unfortunately. At 5 o'clock they opened for dinner and we relocated to the cute patio area. We split the eggplant lasagna and burrata per our server's recommendation and I would order both again. The lasagna was a unique because it included noodles, which I wasn't expecting. Al dente. Great but the only thing I tasted was salt and pepper. Chocolate Cake: It sort of tasted like chocolate but if you blinded folded me I don't think I could tell you what it was. I landed on a Thursday and we were making some impromptu dinner plans. Serafina is close by to our friends' apartment and just so happened to have a cancellation for a table of 4 so we were able to sit down right away. We had great and attentive service all night from Jeffrey. For wine, we tried the Gonc which is a Slovenian bottle per servers recommendation for a different / bold red wine. It was good! The second bottle we tried was an Italian cab and it was on the lighter side. For food you can never go wrong with their focaccia service (so warm and soft... I want to sleep on it lol) and their burrata which comes with this amazing squash and pickled grapes. For entrees, everyone else got the melanzane (eggplant) and I ordered the spaghetti with clams. The noodles were perfectly Al dente with a nice crunch with the toppings. The clams were a little fishy tonight which made the whole dish a little too fishy for my preference. I tried my husband's eggplant and it is just as I remembered from the last time I tried it... rich and acidic atop a bed of delicious angel hair. I live for the eggplant dish - Melanzane and had it two weeks in a row when I was hosting work dinners. This is a nice, neighborhood Italian restaurant. The outdoor patio is great when the weather is nice. Be careful to make sure your chair isn't too close to the edge of the landscaping since there's not a lot of space. I almost fell backwards into the bushes! For appetizers I tried the bruschetta, arancini, and burrata and liked the burratta the best. They have a nice wine menu and can give you suggestions if get stuck. I also tried the cavatelli, which I enjoyed. I also got the BUCATINI to split with my friend and it was TERRIBLY SALTY. The shrimp was cooked well so we just ate that. I told the waitress and she said "okay." I saw another table ordered it and they also just ate the shrimp off and left the pasta. It's such a shame since it could be such a good dish if it wasn't so salty. I've eaten inside during the summer and it gets really hot. Ended up here by accident because Cicchetti is closed on Monday (now you know that fact as well). But they share a patio with them, so you're not at a total loss. During happy hour on Monday, it was a 15-minute wait for a patio spot on a sunny summer day, so if that's your calling as well, be prepared for a potential wait, especially if you've got more than two. We were hungry but not famished and ordered the cheese plate and the meat board. Both were amazing, and the server's knowledge of the various eats was impressive. The different options were so varied, and the accompaniments were great. I wouldn't change a thing. The pate was especially good. To drink, I had one of their roses, again the waiter was super helpful in describing them. My companion got a cocktail that was amazing, so you can't really go wrong on the drink options. The food was meh. The service ruined the night. Our server didn't seem to be too into it. They offered no recommendations, pepper was inconvenient for them and when they carded the birthday boy they didn't even notice the date and wish him a happy birthday. To close out our meal the busing staff swooped in and took his bowl while he had the last bread in his hand that he was about to finish off in the sauce in the bowl before we could say anything. The four stars would be minimized if we were allowed to dine in. This is a Coronavirus restaurant review of take out pasta and meatballs. Take out is a "new ballgame" for many restaurants, and take out pasta seems to pose issues for most kitchens. My wife, being Italian and having learned to prepare pasta from Grandma, was going to prepare pasta and meatballs for her birthday. The rolling pin was already on the counter. I refused to allow her to work on her birthday, and ordered out from Serafina, our first taste of Serafina's cooking. While the Rigatoni Bolognese was cooked al dente, they were very heavy and the sauce rather bland. We were in Bologna in December, so maybe our taste buds have a spoiled memory. The meatballs were made with pork and beef, but the pork punched out the beef, and the flavor was decidedly piggish. Not my personal favorite. Desserts were good, but overly sweet, in my opinion. We will try Serafina again when dining in is a viable option. Seattle has few Italian restaurants, the Northwest not a particular stop for Italian and Sicilian immigration. We're used to NYC, Chicago, and Italy unfortunately. I do miss Il Covo, which has disappeared under the crunch of Covid-19. I could drive to West Seattle to get Il Covo's pasta, but with the bridge out, that's a schlep. Who know's what Seattle's dining scene will look like once the curtain is lifted? read more

We sat +10 minutes before anyone came by to offer a drink or anything for that matter. There were only a few other tables..so not sure if everyone as on a break or something?? We started with the meatball appetizer oh my gosh we thought it may have been the cheese on top but it was the entire meatball...so SALTY!! Our entire meal, everything was so salty. I ordered the special pasta with mushrooms and my husband had the Amatriciana and he ate about 1/4 of his meal. We both were shocked at the amount of salt in our dishes. We asked for bread and our waiter brought a few slices and then charge us $4 or $5....can't remember exact amount but for two slices seemed ridiculious. The restaurant was extremely cold as well..no coziness going on and I recommend NOT siting near a window especially in the colder months. Our water service was good. I recently chose this restaurant for a date in Seattle, and it was lovely. It was dimly lit & well decorated, with a welcome vibe. My date was a chef so I let him order and we tried a few entrees to share. Our server was good and the food was tasty overall. My favorite part of the meal was the gnocchi, the flavors were so good together and we finished it all. The steak was good but the potato squares were a bit dry. It was not quite cooked to medium as I requested, but I still enjoyed it. The chicken wasn't edible, as it was undercooked, the bones inside were still bloody and raw. We sent it back and were told by our server that it's due to the brine that the chicken is marinated in. My date, a 20+ year executive chef, disagreed. I asked for a second drink, but I think our server forgot. We weren't charged for it so that was fine. We did not have dessert because we were just too full, but it was an enjoyable dinner experience & a memorable date. read more
