We've been here a couple times for tastings as wine club members and the experience has been fantastic every time. We most recently had Gary help us and I can't say enough great things about him. He was very knowledgeable, charming, entertaining, and funny. As for the wine, Sequoia Grove is known for their reds, specifically their Cabernet Sauvignon, and they do an amazing job! They have a great variety from Cabs you can just drink on their own and enjoy, to more full-body Cabs that would pair well with a nice steak dinner or cheese platter. If you're strictly a white wine drinker, this may not be the best place for you, as they generally only have Chardonnay. It's a decent Chardonnay, but that will be your only option. If, however, you're a red wine drinker and want to have some of the best Cabs Napa Valley has to offer, do yourself a favor and come here! read more

If I had to recommend a place to do a membership, this is definitely top 3! Not only are the wines amazing, but it's the only place where u can share your membership with friends and family that come to town without you having to be there! Lowest bottles were about $30 and the higher were about $165...so not bad when considering other places are usually $50-75 for the lower bottles. Here your membership is buy 3 bottles per quarter vs a dollar minimum at other places. So say you like the $30 wine...that's $90 per quarter, vs other spots where it is a $200+ per quarter membership fulfillment. I bought a bottle of the 2015, $155, which I was told will last a number of years. I really liked the 2013, $165, tho so decided on our following trip to get a couples bottles of that, plus a few others. Definitely looking forward to using my Coravin to start on some of these wines I've picked up. They were also doing a Christmas sale, so wines are even less! The ambiance with the little private fireplace was amazing and the customer service we were given when we went back to pick up wine...top notch! Highly recommend trying this place, especially the Cambium tasting. They do have other items not on the menu that are good as well. read more

Nice little gem here, tucked away with a beautiful open outdoor seating. I was pleasantly surprised how spaced out all the tables were - very Covid friendly so I felt very safe coming here. They offer two types of tastings - current release or single vineyard (all reds) and also a cheese & charcuterie pairing ($20). I was able to try the current release tasting ($40) as well as the vineyard tasting ($50) and was very pleased with what I tasted. Prior to starting the tasting, we were poured a Chardonnay not on the list and it was a great palette cleanser- a nice crisp start. I enjoyed the 2017 Haire Vineyard Chardonnay as well as the 2016 Reserve cabernet sauvignon from the current release tasting, and from the single vineyard tasting, the 2015 Tonella Vineyard and 2016 Stagecoach Vineyard Cabarnet were both outstanding. Yes I ended up buying 4 bottles in which by then I realized joining the membership to get the discount made sense. Haha. Yes, they got me but I walked away with some very good wines. I wish I could remember her name but we also had a great server. She's a student training to be a sommelier and was super knowledgeable and kind. If you get her, you're in luck! read more

Sleepy tasting with very mediocre wine. We were so excited to try this on our first trip to Napa, based off all of the reviews. It was very disappointing.. The staff was nice but the entire vibe of the place was very sleepy, and perhaps old fashioned. It's very beautiful there! But it all just felt a little underwhelming. We were totally willing to not care about any of that if the wine was great! It was not.... Sounds like food pairings might be the way to go here? I hate leaving bad reviews but I would have appreciated someone saying this to me before we booked a tasting here. One of my favorite experiences during our trip to Napa. We only did the wine tasting but I was so bummed that we weren't able to do the food pairing because it looked incredible. I think our wine expert was named Michael and he was so knowledgeable and gave us a great time. The outdoor seating underneath the huge trees was such a vibe and a perfect setting for a nice wine tasting. Michael even let my wife try multiple different white wines that weren't on the traditional tasting because she doesn't like Reds (yet) so we felt very welcome. Highly recommend: The Stagecoach Cabernet Sauvignon was my favorite wine that I tasted throughout my trip -If you're able to do the wine pairing DO IT -Their Sauvignon Blanc sells out fast so if your there when they have it you should buy it. read more

I also appreciate that they are one of the easier places to get reservations at in Napa, it's all done online too. 40 pp for their current release tasting. As a recent bay area transplant from San Diego, I am always looking for new places to bring family when they visit. I booked a Terroir tasting this past weekend for my visiting sister and fiancé solely based on yelp reviews (hence why I feel it is important for me to leave one here). Unfortunately, my family (in-law side) experienced an unexpected loss the day before our reservation here, so I was completely torn on whether to keep the reservation or not. The circumstances were extremely complicated with my sister in town, and I ultimately decided to move forward and take this as an opportunity to spend quality time with my one and only sister and process the loss. Struggling to maintain composure, I explained my situation to the staff, whom were all ultimately very accommodating. Whilst this visit was an emotional rollercoaster, the overall experience was as all the positive reviews have stated. I could not have asked for a better food-wine pairing experience especially in the state I am in. Some notes: The grounds of this winery and the Cambium room where the tasting took place is beautiful. Our host and chef Britny were very thorough when explaining each pairing. The seating was spaced well enough to be comfortable during these times. I look forward to returning with more friends and family in the future and leaving a more comprehensive review. read more

Introduced to me by one of my husband's coworkers, Sequoia Grove's Chardonnay has become one of my favorites! So naturally, I had to go to the source on my last trip to Napa. We were welcomed to our tasting with a splash of a very unique Chardonnay that was actually made by 2 different winemakers: started by one and finished by another! It was so good, I definitely bought a bottle to bring home Our sommelier, Oscar, was an extremely knowledgeable wine educator and brand ambassador. Not only did he make the tasting worthwhile with great descriptions and history behind the grapes and wines, he also made it special by bringing us the most delicious brownies to taste alongside a killer Cabernet. Tbh, I loved every wine I tried You can also go around the main building to see vines planted for different varietals. Since we went during/ towards the end of Harvest, a lot of grapes have been picked, but the leaves were still so pretty with hints of autumn I can't wait to go back and visit (especially the winery dog)! read more

And their fancier Cab Franc. We also had their small bites. Fried green olives, Focaccia and Romanesco & too crisp/brown pita chips. I suggest the Focaccia! Made a reservation here for our 2nd stop in Napa Valley, and this was a great winery with a beautiful, open outdoor tasting area. (Didn't see get to the interior due to Covid) Mason attended to us, and his friendliness made the experience wonderful. We felt very lucky to have him introduce the wines. We got the Current Release wine tasting, which started with a Chardonnay followed by a Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and a Cabernet Sauvignon. Mason gave us a bonus taste of the Syrah at the end. This is a tough one. Did the food and wine pairing. Our hostess was fantastic. Pleasant, informing and engaged. The food was ok. Falafel and cod were okay. Duck empanada dry and cool temp. The steak and fries were poor. Fries were underdone and greasy. Steak was fatty and cold by the time I got to it. Whole experience was less than an hour. Not worth the money. We have traveled the 29 hundreds of times always passing and never stopping at Sequoia Grove Winery. My wife put a stop to that and requested we make an appointment for a tasting. We are not novice wine drinkers. We take this subject pretty serious and our collection of fine wines represents many visits to wineries throughout the pacific region. I did my research online and booked my tasting for two on Sunday afternoon. We arrive and are shown a comfortable spot on the patio with very padded chairs and a small table for our wine. Our wine server Tom inquires as to what we would like to explore on the menu and suggests that we allow him to bring us a sampling of most of their wines. Done says I. We enjoyed almost all the wines; tasting most of their cabs as well as various other varietals and their 2 chardonnays. Everyone around us seemed to enjoy the wine and the atmosphere was very fun and festive. Sequoia Grove also has a food program and we watched people order off the menu and enjoy some pretty sensational looking dishes. They also provide a food and wine paring experience when safe (outside of the pandemic) which compares to that of a 5 star restaurant. There was zero pressure to join their wine club but learning that wine club members had access to their sister winery St Francis, free tastings for up to four guests at both wineries, 20% off of wine and discount on food and other items, I decided to join. Yes, this makes the 7 wine club membership. But, this place you seem to get a return on your investment. Our experience at Sequoia Grove was positive hence the 5 stars. We are already planning a visit in March and also plan to bring some other winophiles to experience the wines and atmosphere of Sequoia Grove Winery. This place earns an easy 5 stars. read more

My group of 3 were frazzled about finding a place last minute for a weekend tasting. We were able to do a walk-in, and wow this place's interior decor and surround landscape was so beautiful and rich in history. Kate was the one who took care of us for the most part. She was super down-to-earth, professional, knowledgable, and very kind. Any questions we had she answered in-depth. Our tasting was fabulous where we got to try several different fragrant wines, plus they were generous on the pour. We had a few questions on what made Napa wine special and Kate had Gary take us out to the vineyard where we were able to get rich insight to the process of cultivating their grapes into wine. He is incredibly passionate about the craft and made the wine making process very interesting to our group. We left the tasting very satisfied and with a lot more respect for Napa wineries. It's hard to give a service business one star during the pandemic, but there was nothing that was done to make it two. We came here the day after Thanksgiving with our 4 month old baby. We had a reservation and for those of you who are parents you know what it takes to pack a little one for a day in Napa. When we arrived the staff told us that "we used to be family friendly but we no longer allow children or dogs." While we were trying to figure out if there is a way to save the day, someone with a dog was let in. Apparently the dog was a service dog. I get it: dogs reduce stress while little babies increase it. That is a joke because of course it made no sense. We have been coming to Napa and Sonoma over the past several months with our baby and prior without. Wineries are basically a restaurant in a middle of a vineyard, heavy on wine and light on food. No issues having babies in those as long as you are distanced from other patrons and staying outside. Somehow some wineries decided to stop being "family friendly". This policy doesn't seem to be recommended by the government or any medical authority I could find online. What gives? Silly arbitrary stuff which is arbitrarily enforced. read more

Rustic elegance is how I would describe this winery, gorgeous woods all throughout and fiercely elegant all at the same time. We were cheerfully greeted by Mason who poured us glass of light crisp rose and soon after that we had a very tasty Chardonnay, I'd say an excellent way to start our food and wine tasting day. Not long after that we got to meet the delightful Lisa, she was an absolute delight she gave us a tour of the grounds and we discussed the wines and had a tasty little Dungeness crab cake with the 2015 Haire Vineyard Chardonnay so delicious. Now onto my very favorite part, which of course was the food and wine Pairing we were extremely privileged to meet the owner Steve, he spoke of his excitement about this new offering and we were the very excited to get started. The first course was the Alaskan black cod with lentils, caramelized fennel and parsnip it was paired with the 2014 Tonella Vineyard Cabernet Franc, This was a match made in heaven. The second course was the ricotta gnocchi with vegetable Bolognese roasted heirloom tomatoes and mushrooms with shaved picorino and was served with the 2014 stagecoach vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Third course duck three ways roasted duck breast duck coffee toasted Farrow and current and the hazelnut gremolata served with the 2013 Henry brothers Cabernet Sauvignon. Fourth course Cabernet braised short rib served with brown butter squash and a Cabernet Demi this was served with the 2013 cambium. And our dessert was a salted caramel brownie in this beautiful gold box the perfect way to finish our incredible pairing. Britney was the Chef and I must say she has incredible skills in the kitchen, everything was done so exquisitely, Thank you Britney for these amazing foods and the amazing wines that you paired were a perfect match. During the food and wine pairing, there was a whole lot of quiet which is rare and that's because everybody was just enjoying every sip, and every bite of every moment. Absolutely DEVINE I highly recommend doing this and I can guarantee you I will be back.
